The quality of these shirts has gone downhill in recent years… They feel very 'plasticy' now…

      You wear business shirts jv?

      Since when?

      • +45

        Court appearances perhaps?

        • +4

None that I'm aware of. I've checked with my parole officer.

    • +7

Try taking them out of the packet.

    • Have you tried Charles Tyrwhitt shirts ? They seem to be around a similar price (a little bit more than this) and the normal (require ironing) shirts I have bought have been of very high quality.

Just be warned that I received a $8 chargeback fee on the credit card for some kind of international bank transaction when I purchased (even though I used a credit card). I did forget to use the 28 degrees in this case.

      • That's not a "chargeback". A chargeback is when you claim to get a refund through your card company if the items are not delivered or similar. Sounds like a high international fee. Nothing to warn about purchasing from CT.

CT has been discussed at length already.

Yea. Pay a bit more and buy CT or TML

Computed Tomography at Tasmanian Medical Laboratories ?

  • they seem to have removed the classic style from cotton ……. not good……. the classic has the pocket for pens, passes, etc the other styles don't also a bit more generous for us older people whose metabolism has slowed and we gain weight though not over weight.

    • Pocketless shirts are now the fashion. Personally i like them, never used the pocket anyway

      • Pocket is essential for me.. ;)

      • how am i going to store my pens and protractor these days?

  • I bought some Van Heusen shorts in the US 2 and a half years back and the quality and feel of the fabric is infinitely better than any of the Van Heusen shirts I have come across here.

    Wonder why.

    • Really? When I was in the US I walked straight past them because I assumed they were the same low quality they are here. Dang.

      • poor you - and in the time since minimal fading and thinning of the material.

  • Were can i buy a short sleeved buisness shirt?

    • +4

Don't they are out of fashion

      • +3

You got downvoted, but you're right. Short sleeved business shirts look terrible. Were long sleeve and fold it up, looks way better.

        • Long Sleeves. Conformity. A Jedi craves not these things

    • Uniqlo has white easy iron short sleeve shirts in Slim fit.

Hey, good to see you Sipowitz.
It's been awhile since NYPD Blue.

    • Try here at Charles Tyrwhitt

  • +4

For the price its not bad, however the quality is not very good. For $5 per shirt more you can get Charles Tyrwitt shirts which are 10 times better in feel and quality.

    • CT is my man - much better than VH. Havent bought a VH shirt since my graduate year… quality is shocking, especially when you're paying near retail for them!

    • Not questioning you in regards to quality but the best I can see for shirts on the Charles Tyrwitt site is 4 for $199 (so double, not $5 more per shirt)

      • +2

The RRP for CT shirts are high, but their 'normal' price is about $30-$40. You can go to CT site and go to the clearance section. There should be a few shirts at about the $30 mark, or you can wait for their 'sales' where most of their shirts go for that price.

        Cheers

        • Thanks for the heads up, I'd never heard of CT before. I just went and had a look myself and there are heaps of shirts in the clearance section some $29.50 down from $160!

        • Note that shipping for 4 shirts is $12.95, so 4 shirts works out to $130.95. So about $7.74 extra a shirt vs the Van Heusen ones (Assuming you buy 4 x $29.50 shirts.)

Can anyone comment on how true to size these shirts are?

  • I personally am a fan of Van Heusen… I got this email and brought some.

I do get a little annoyed that their primary colour is blue… makes it hard for some variety.

    • +7

      Where did you bring them?

      • Sorry I don't know what you mean by where did you bring them?

I got an email from Van Heuson this morning and ordered them off their website. I buy them for work.

        • I got this email and brought some

Shonky is referring to you saying Brought instead of Bought. Year 4 class 101…

        • @Tehcookiemonsta: I know many people that say brought instead of bought. I've no idea where they've adopted this, or how they're not aware of it.

        • @Online Bathroomware:

          Fair enough. Quick typing curse.

        • @daven1985:
No it's not a quick typing curse. The r isn't even close to the other letters.

It's misspelling a word and not understanding the difference between the two.

Dont forget 10.5% cashback at Cashrewards too

  • CT Shirts have not been $39 for a while :(

    • +1

Not true. There clearance section has them as low as $29.50 atm.

  • How's the material and thickness like for Sydney summer? I tend to sweat alot

    • VH shirts are good quality, they are my standard corporate shirt for all year wear in Sydney. I do prefer the Classic fit over Euro/Slim fit though.

      • Thanks, I suffer from hyperhydrosis so am pretty picky when it comes to picking biz shirts for summer . I bought some pelaco couple years back and regretted it. The material was retains heat and caused me to sweat like a pig lol

        • They are all 100% cotton AFAIK.

        • @CLoSeR:

Not the easy care ones though. Hybrid Cotton and Synthetic.

  • Everything is out of stock…

  • Waste of time - most are sold out. It really pisses me off when stores advertise a deal with bare minimum stock to attract buyers. bye bye van heusen for dodgy practice.

  • Weird sizes. What happened to S, M, L, XL, Morbid Obese?
