power user update:

please note comment from previous deal:

You really should tell people that these are dodgy links - I went last night using our emailed tickets to the Southbank session. Our names were not on the door and it was an event specifically for Yelp users. I don't know where you got that link from but it wasn't valid. Luckily some people hadn't turned up so we squeezed in but it was pretty embarrassing.

similar to atom/metromagazine deals, these might be taken-down/unpublished

fyi the event cinemas hack :)

      The Backlot Studios
      65 Haig Street
      Southbank

It is a ticket to a Backlot Studios showing session. If you do some research you would see that "The Backlot Studios is Australia’s first purpose-built private cinema & events space suitable for corporate / private events and post-production."

Its not a surprise that the private cinema and event space would have a guess list.

It could be a different story with event and village ticket.

      • +1

Hmm, I'm of two minds about this one now. One one hand, I grabbed tickets to Innaloo which is a huge cinema but probably has private function areas and I don't imagine it would be much more than scanning the ticket at the regular register and heading into the cinema as normal, since it only recommends you are there 15 minutes beforehand.

On the other hand, there is a second showing at Innaloo which is for late comers and includes pizza and beer, which sounds like something that might be a bit more controlled. Maybe there will be some sort of guest list but I wonder why you would include the second showing at all?

It's a decent drive from me but I think I'll take the gamble and just find a cheap meal nearby if I get rejected, you know to make it somewhat worthwhile. Worth the gamble I think, this film looks like great fun. I'll definitely see it at the cinema one way or the other.

      Embarrassment for free seating? Deal!

    • +1

That tixeachitem hack doesnt seem to work for me. Tried typing it in the promo code box and also typing $('.tixeachitem').show() in console, nothing happens.

  • robina still working. accidentally got tockets for shellharbour! sounds like a place in gc oops and also got tix to eddie the eagle at harbourtown.

Historically this hasn't worked very well.

  • k

  • 1958 robina works

  • 1941 works can admit up to 4 for the new snoopy film for the kiddies

    • date?

  • dose anyone know anything about this "ORCHARD MARKETING PTY. LTD." that owns the "foxrsvp.com.au" domain?

The site looks dodgy as hell.

Trailers are so bad it's actually embarrassing to watch. Looks so "EDGY TO BE TOUCH YEAH!!!!" man I'll be shocked if this is actually good <SWEAR WORD!> <GORE> <SWEARING MORE> <SMARMY QUIP! WHOAH BBBBAAAAZZERK!>

    Nope

  • +4

Based on the last outcome of the same deal you'd think people would have learnt by now…..

    • One outcome at one cinema? Has anyone else claimed they got previous ticket through Fox RSVP that got declined?

      • That's what I am trying to work out. Was it just one person at one Cinema?

The tickets I managed are for Radio Metro, most likely a promo event for listeners anyway.

        • The person that got invalid ticket in the last deal went to a cinema that deal with private event and corporate function. That would be one reason why there is a guess list.

I highly doubt that event or village would dedicate some staffs member with a guess list of 200+ people standing by the door checking everyone name.

        • @highdealer:

Same thoughts here. If you have a valid ticket, they should admit you.

Does it come with a free time machine?

  • +2

If you used 1959 for the Feb 5th 6PM Sydney screening, there should be no problem getting in. I saw this link on Facebook promoted by V (the energy drink) as a public screening for whoever could get it before tickets sold out (they also had screenings for I think 4-5 other states but I didn't pay attention).

However, these may have been sold out before this post went up.

    • +7

      http://v-energy.com.au/world-of-v/deadpool

This is the general promo link for V :). Apparently VIC, QLD, SA and WA are yet to sell out.

      • -1

Tried QLD but sold out. Can anyone who got tickets to Chermside using this link (1953) let me know which cinema it's in? I got tickets to same time and location but through other link and not sure if it's the same session.

Also, could have sworn the header which states the business (V energy drink, Nova etc) was not there yesterday.

      • -1

Vic has sold out, looks like they haven't updated the page yet.

      • Vic now sold out

  • Can't edit my post above.

Just wanted to say that there's no Company listed.

    Cheers

  • Chermside Brisbane all gone.

    • I believe the term is "Ozbargained!"

      :-(

😀 Let me know how you go before I go on the 10th

    • +1

What Organisation did you put down?

    • +2

      me lol
I put down Village Cinemas.. couldn't think of something better.

  • +3

Got 4 tickets to event at Robina for Tuesday week (9th of Feb) seems 50/50 chance we'll turn up and be told to go away… so, since I have nothing to lose and nothing else to do on a Tuesday night - I'll be there waving the OZB flag - thanks OP

    • +2

Pictures or it didn't happen (that you were waiving an OZB flag).

      • +2

crap! err.. hastily prepares OZB flag

    • Same, may as well go and get dinner there and worst case we have to go home.

    • +1

I'd be surprised if the odds are 50/50. My guess is 90/10 against this working.

      • lol… it's either going to work or it won't… that's still 50/50 #optimist

        • +5

When I drive my car to work, I'm either going to arrive safely or be killed by a semi trailer before I arrive. That gives me a binary outcome (50/50) but I'd hope those are not the odds! #realist

yes please people that go to the earliest session post the outcome here. or even better video from when approaching the ticket gate to the seat..

    • +10

even better video from when approaching the ticket gate to the seat

And during the whole movie too. Then upload it in 1080p.

      • chilbro: we do not support piracy… ;-)

  • Tried for all Sydney sessions. No tickets available unfortunately

  • Tried all Bribsane sessions. All sold out :(

If anyone doesn't want to go, I'll be happy to take those tickets.

  • -1

I still have these 2 Tickets for anyone that wants them.
Message me your email and I'll forward the email verification with tickets to print out to you.

    Sydney sold out

  • -1

    This deal could be expired.

  • +1

Are Fox really so stupid that all their premiere signups are done on just one site?

IGN are doing a promotion thing where you can win a ticket to "their" advance screening of it in Sydney, here's where you can go to skip signing up and jump right to the winning part http://www.foxrsvp.com.au/Register.aspx?partnerID=1991

Also if you go before 1900, there's previews for Joy, Snoop, and Revenant, among others.

  • I normally wouldn't complain about offers for free tickets to early screenings of a movie but annoyingly as somebody who is a reviewer, some of these sessions are designed to be for media screenings and thanks to OzBargainers there are now no more seats available for those of us who want to review the film.
    Awesome thanks guys >:|

    • +2

I couldn't agree more. Some of these tickets should be reserved for you guys.

    • +6

I'm sure there's enough people going from here that can tell you all about it :P

Seriously though, sure, maybe it shouldn't have been ozbargain'd but really the fault lies with the promoter for the way the site is accessible.

      • +2

I don't deny that they should set up a better level of security around how the tickets are acquired but the fault actually lies with the person who shared it with OzB in the first place. The distributors send these emails out IN GOOD FAITH to their distribution list with a disclaimer saying that it's meant for industry and friends and family only. But fat lot of good a "disclaimer" is when nobody actually adheres to it.

        • +9

In my defence, the thing I got was from a PROMO for V energy drink that anyone could use and was even posted on facebook by V for the PUBLIC to hammer. A friend of mine in the Ent. Industry just pointed me at it. The rest is just down to luck and poor web design.

        • how do you become a reviewer?

        • @furythree: Find a publication such as a newspaper / online blog that needs a writer and provide them with examples of your work and see if they'll take you on. More often than not they won't pay you, you just get free tickets to stuff.

The site I write for is an independent Australian entertainment based website, we've worked hard to build a good reputation with publicists by delivering quality content on time. If you don't you end up blacklisted and not invited to events, therefore it's not easy for us to get the invites. Hence why I was a bit pissed that all the tickets for Deadpool got snatched up by general public members which means we get shut out from going along to do our "job" purely because there's no spare seats available.

        • +1

          @Todes Angst:
I appreciate that you were sharing a link for a different promotion and that the nature of this site encourages people to find the freebies and good deals. I also acknowledge that part of the fault lies with Fox for not having a more secure method of distributing or allocating these tickets.

That still doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be annoyed that because of your initial post, it's now resulted in media representatives missing out on the opportunity to review the film. As in media have a legitimate work related reason to be there, as opposed to general public members who are just tight-asses and don't want to spend the money on buying a ticket so they use OzB to score a free ticket.

        • @trvllngjwllr: I'd hardly call the role of a movie critic legitimate, or even important. I tend to disagree with most movie reviews these days. They either hype a movie I found boring, or pan a movie I really enjoyed. Call it age difference, intelligence level, mood, or just state of mind, but we're all uniquely different these days, and finding some semblance of agreement with another person's subjective judgement is becoming too hard an ask. To be honest, I but Empire for the articles. The reviews suck. Five stars for the latest Star Wars, really?

        • @divergent: Force Awakens is three stars at best. One star for the FX, one star for the new characters and one star for not having Jar Jar Binks.

      • Yep, if you can access it, it's up to their dev team to secure the site.

        • I completely agree, but it may not have been brought to their attention that this is happening.

If it has and they haven't done something about it, then those of us who miss out then just have to wear that consequence.

    • +1

      Blame Fox for their stupidity.

    • +5

I'll review it for you. Is good.

  • Anyone want to swap a ticket to the Adelaide screening 10th Feb 7pm for a Melbourne screening :)

  • I want to go see this movie. test 123. It's all about a man stranded on a boat who makes friends with a Tiger. Sounds awfully like a rip off of another movie though.

This was one of the V ones

    • messages have been disabled. did you give yours away?

i'd love to get those tickets

Sorry, didn't realise. Tickets are yours. I'll sort it out shortly :)

        • +1

Is the barcode in your email still showing up?

        • +1

@gospursgo: Hey wow you are right, I printed mine out about 7 or 8 hours ago and it still had the barcode but now when I check my email the barcode and other images just don't come up. Doesn't bode well I suppose.

Mine is listed as a V promo one too though so it's unlikely they'll cancel it (hardly an 'industry' event from the look of it).

        • +1

          @gospursgo:

Yeah, have already forwarded the ticket on, but you're right. No barcode anymore. Hmmm

        • @Talonparty:

could you tell me the format of the number of the barcode. I didnt print mine out and I was able to pull an invitation key in my google cache
i just want to know how many digits and if it stats with a "3d" or not

this is the format of the number I pulled in my cache "3d1234567890123"

        • @dpt90:

If it wasn't reissued, it's not worth the hassle.

        • @dpt90: Hi dpt90 I replied to your PM, the gist of it is unfortunately I'm of the same opinion as others, if it wasn't reissued it's not worth trying, unless you are very close and it's not wasting much of your time.
