Mod:

MESSAGE FROM TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX Please note that all tickets obtained via this site and comment thread are invalid and/or illegally procured. While most of the sessions posted here were never real (as a few comments have already confirmed), any patrons attending cinemas with illegally procured tickets may be subject to investigation. Employee at Fox

We have removed links from this post and you should consider any tickets received from this deal not valid for use.

Got sent this by a movie industry friend. There are several screenings in what looks like Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide on various dates.

Paste the URL : Mod: URL Removed into your browser and change the last 2 digits to find screenings still available. Then just put in an email address and BAM!

George St. Sydney: Mod: URL Removed
Maroochydore: Mod: URL Removed
Chermside, Brisbane: Mod: URL Removed

etc.

power user update:

please note comment from previous deal:

You really should tell people that these are dodgy links - I went last night using our emailed tickets to the Southbank session. Our names were not on the door and it was an event specifically for Yelp users. I don't know where you got that link from but it wasn't valid. Luckily some people hadn't turned up so we squeezed in but it was pretty embarrassing.

I was expecting Fox to say something like:

    Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
    Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
    Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow!
    A-hee-ahee ha-hee!

Guys I just messaged V energy Australia and this is what they said: "Hey Ryan, the tickets are for the full Deadpool movie and are free! There was a security issue though so we'll be resending the tickets shortly, be sure to check the classification before heading to the cinema!"
Now I am confused as shit, and don't know what to do after reading this thread.

    • Did you get your tickets through V? If so, they're probably sending you (and all the entered via the V landing page) new tickets with a new barcode.

      • Yeah I did, is it worth going ?

        • Yeh, I don't see why not. While I cannot comment as I'm not from Fox or V, the impression I have gotten is that Fox have allocated x number of tickets to V to distribute as they see fit.

If V have said they are resending you the ticket, I don't see why it wouldn't be valid. Perhaps the Fox rep could confirm?

        • @tomsco: that's what I was thinking, not really doing anything wrong ?

        • +12

@tomsco: Hi guys, I do want to assure you both and all others affected, that the Deadpool tickets that were obtained via the V landing pages are legitimate and will be honoured at the V screening. V is working through reissuing the tickets to those who signed up via their landing page. If this was you, then look forward to seeing your tickets soon.
You're absolutely correct, Fox will often partner with organisations at the time of film release. We release a number of promo tickets, in this case, to our close partner V, and they use what method they think best to share them with their valued customers and fans. Fox personnel and security teams are present at all pre-release screenings (partner or otherwise) as that's just part of what we do to protect our content and ensure the best experience for our guests.
Fox has been using the RSVP system in Oz for many years to distribute tickets to our press, media, close partner companies, cinema staff, typically ahead of the general public release. We send personal invitations to people via email, directing them to the RSVP site to claim their tickets. For years and years this has worked nicely. The system was never designed with tokens or silent redirects in mind - it's absolutely been by choice up until now. The relaxed URL protection has never been a problem and has allowed us the flexibility to share links more broadly as required. Whilst there may have been a few tickets end up in others' hands in the past, it's never been to the level that was worth changing things. Deadpool changed all of that…
Deadpool is a fantastic movie that we're really excited about and proud of. Whilst it won't appeal to absolutely every movie goer, it's going to be loved by so many people around the planet. It's clear just how many OzBargainers want to see it and whilst we wish we could give everyone a free ticket, that's just not possible. Feb 11th is the Aus release and we'd love to see you at your local cinema to enjoy the experience.
When the RSVP links were posted online via an OZB member (with some URL manipulation thrown in), we suddenly found ourselves with 30+ screenings across the country for email-invited guests only, all filled up before the intended guests had even RSVP'd. Not a bad problem to have with regards to interest in the film, but a real problem for us to deal with when those snapping up the tickets were not invited in the first place and there were no seats left for the guests. If you obtained a ticket via Ozb and never received a formal email invite from Fox, then unfortunately you're not entitled to a ticket. I realise that sounds a little harsh, but please see it from our perspective. As we know all of our email invited guests by state, it's therefore really easy to void and reissue new tickets.
The reason we are encouraging you not to turn up on the night with your pre-printed ozb tickets is purely so as to avoid you travelling unnecessarily and especially to avoid any possible embarrassment on your part. The RSVP site is designed to respond to an invitation and we'll make this a little clearer for all future releases so as to avoid all of this frustration again.

        • +2

          @Squirry1010:

          A much better response.
The vast majority here don't and wouldn't want to do anything fraudulent - which is why they are largely philosophical about the tickets being invalid.
Check the odd forum topic where somebody asks for help evading tax and it is pretty obvious. Bargain hunters =/= frauds (otherwise we'd be advertising 'five finger discount' deals).

This kind of situation is a timely reminder though for business people to keep their websites/other technology solutions up to date. Just because something has 'worked in the past', doesn't mean it is overdue for an upgrade with potentially serious consequences. Just remember, keep your technology solutions up to date :)

        • -7

@Squirry1010: As you are a business (read: have lots of money) and we are OzBargainers (read: have so little money we search for bargains), what are you going to do to smooth out this debacle? You have our email addresses, and an opportunity to appease our anger over having thought we were getting a free movie ticket, only to find we were summarily threatened and evicted from the cinema (so to speak). You can continue to throw words like theft and fraud at us, or you can be the bigger organisation, who doesn't want a large percentage of movie lovers to dislike and distrust you, and offer us some sort of compensation. I know I will see Deadpool outside of the premiere, so losing the ticket is not the issue for me, but your reputation from the way you handled this has well and truly fallen in my eyes. Also, consider how many people took up the deal, and that a lot of them were ignorant of what was happening, and don't subscribe to these comments, and will still probably innocently turn up to the cinema and be turned back. What of their continuing upset from all this? This is an opportunity to send emails to everyone and state the issue clearly to make sure they don't turn up, and maybe offer something in its place as a kind of saving grace to this mess. I would hate for you guys to leave it as it is. Fox already has a lot of negative publicity - Rupert Murdock, Phone Hacking, Bias Reporting, and any number of other conspiracy theories - and this just adds to it. We were not wrong in applying for these tickets, and to lay the blame at our feet and make us the bad guys is just unethical and very unbusinesslike. Food for thought.

        • @Squirry1010: so as long as you were originally emailed the ticket via the V promotion, you will still be able to attend? Just a confirmation

        • @ryeyo: that's my understanding Ryan. If you signed up via the special V Deadpool page and they sent you a ticket, then they'll send you a new one via email, ahead of the screening.

        • +9

          @divergent:

          So to summarise:

          • I am annoyed this deal didn't pan out
          • I want a free ticket, just because
          • I deserve the free ticket, just because

Is that about the gist of your comment?

Seriously, give it up and move on. Stop acting entitled, and like you need some sort of compensation. And stop acting like you're talking on behalf of anyone that took up this deal. You're just talking on behalf of yourself.

OzBargainers know when a deal is legit and when it isn't, it doesn't stop us from trying, be they hacks like this and past Event Cinema hacks, and pricing errors. You know when you click through that the chances of a 'win' are massively stacked against you, yet you 'try'. If you succeed, then you get 1 hell of a bargain. If you fail, you move on. You sure don't start attacking the company for not being able to pre-empt your dodgy behaviour.

So just give it up and move on, Fox don't owe you or anyone else any sort of compensation for this.

        • -5

@Spackbace: Umm, no, that doesn't sum up my comment at all. Seriously, did you actually read it? I wasn't even being anti, I was being sincere. If you knew anything about CRM you'd understand where I was coming from. And it is YOU who is talking on behalf of ALL OzBargainers ("OzBargainers know when a deal is legit and when it isn't"). How marvelous it must be for you to know what EVERY OzBargainer knows and doesn't know. My comment was that A LOT would be ignorant of the progress of this thread after gaining the ticket because I know for definite that it is common practice to remove yourself from the subscribe list because you get spammed with all the comments. And don't tell me that isn't the case because I constantly see this happening on popular threads. And, last but not least, don't tell me what to do, or judge me. You're simply not qualified.

"Fox has been using the RSVP system in Oz for many years to distribute tickets to our press, media, close partner companies, cinema staff, typically ahead of the general public release"

Who are these people? and why am I not entitled to see it and give a amateur review? this is a total crock. I had a mate who worked for an advertisement sales agency and use to get put up in these type of pre screenings. The thing that really bugged me is he wasn't even reviewing it, just a hand out and wasn't at times even interested for the movie. It's just for entitled snobs who get secret freebies from these so called companies. Anger's me that this type of stuff goes on behind closed doors if you never had someone in the know attending these type of events, you would never knew it happen. Unfair to some of us who pay to attend movies every week (I mean every week)and never get this entitlement. Wish there was a site that movie companies together had, that would issue out a pre-screening set amount of seats in the way that V did (but it has to be one domain). That way people like me and every oz bargainer on here had a way to attend such event. I don't mind even paying for it (I see Event Cinemas advance showings all the time when they sell them) because I love seeing movies before they're even talked about the following week and having a review up on it already.

          Just got mine!!

          Legends!

          Soooo pumped for this movie…

        • @donut152: agree with you. I use to get invites and win competitions to attend major premieres and lately that has been a very rare event and competitions much harder to win with fewer tickets. Forget the Facebook allocation crap. It would be a great idea to have a website for interested people that would like to attend advanced screenings and premiers with the stars to register on a ballot system or something. Why should those that work in media or other industries take priority.

        • @nubzy:

Why should those that work in media or other industries take priority.

uh because they are associated with the product?
If you are a butcher you would expect some inside deals and get cheap meat
If you are a baker you would expect some cheap bread from where you work or a supplier/networked associate
If you work with an affiliate of fox or one of the promoters of a particular movie how would you not expect there to be some allocated perk/free tickets available?

I use to get invites and win competitions to attend major premieres and lately that has been a very rare event and competitions much harder to win with fewer tickets.

Are you associated with an affiliate company? Or just a member of the public?
If you're just a member of the public it could be there are more guys just like you that want to score this free stuff so competition for the same number of free tickets is fierce? Or it could be they are just offering less of these free tickets because they dont feel like there is the wanted outcome/return on them.
They are not obliged to offer free tickets - i mean they would only do it if they feel it offeres them more sales in the end via good word of mouth over the cost of the initial free samples.
The fact you dont understand this leads me to believe that you scored free tickets previously but didnt help promote their product at all which is what they wanted in return.

"There was a security issue though"

      yeah, they didn't have any.

    • Hi Ryan - all entrants from the V Energy drink promotion are valid and will have official tickets resent soon, if not already (replacing the originally submitted tickets which were compromised).

To clarify; regrettably, from this thread, other tickets for non-V Energy Drink promotional screenings were illegitimately obtained. Those are the tickets that will not be accepted. Some of these screenings never actually existed in the first place so the manner of cancelling those tickets was simply a clerical measure to ensure no misunderstandings down the line.

The security personnel attending cinemas will be there to ensure only legitimate ticket holders are allowed into the screenings. Hopefully you will understand that there's obviously a finite number of seats per cinema so there aren't enough seats to cater to both legitimate and illegitimate ticket holders. FYI security personnel are standard at all preview screenings as an anti-piracy measure.

      Hopefully this addresses your concerns.

      • You say

FYI security personnel are standard at all preview screenings as an anti-piracy measure

So why do you feel the need to say

The security personnel attending cinemas will be there to ensure only legitimate ticket holders are allowed into the screenings

It is coming off as a bit of a threat. Just leave it at the anti-piracy reason.

        • Hi tomsco - the guards serve a dual purpose. They're standard as an anti-piracy measure, but for these screenings they're also increased to assist in vetting illegitimate ticket holders.

When we say "illegitimate" or "illegal" we use that clear terminology so that there is no confusion if people have inadvertently obtained tickets via means other than intended.

We're sorry if you feel that terminology use is threatening. Please understanding it is intended as no more threatening than advising that a car features a car alarm.

      • And I noticed you use Alot word "illegitimately" "illegal". Must have bad experience with it..

    Email from 20th Century Fox

"The Deadpool e-ticket issued to this email address has been obtained via an unauthorised source. Please be advised that the tickets are not valid and will not be honoured.

Increased security measures will be in place at all events to prevent unauthorised entry."

    • Ditto.

    • +2

all this thread and repeating about security measure actually make me wonder if they are just bluff, because they know they cannot reject people…i am coming!!!! with weapons ready (weapon as printout email, not scary ones)

Please go there while wearing your bright orange ozbargain shirt.

      • +2

FYI security personnel are standard at all preview screenings as an anti-piracy measure. For these screenings they will have the added function of ensuring that only legitimate ticket holders are allowed into the screenings. Hopefully you will understand that there's obviously a finite number of seats per cinema so there aren't enough seats to cater to both legitimate and illegitimate ticket holders.

    • Was it a v session? I'm curious as to who here that got a V session is still getting a ticket

      • +1

I got a V session not through the V landing page and haven't received a cancellation yet. I printed out my invite before they stopped the back-end. Might be worth the adventure to see what happens and plead ignorance if they refuse.

It's going to be funny because, if by some chance they are expecting this ticket to still be used and I don't go then there'll be a couple of empty seats, possibly a lot more. Alternatively, they might reissue the tickets, but reissue to whom exactly since the V landing page was also open slather and if I took a V ticket without going through the landing page then are they just not going to reissue that ticket to anyone? Either way it seems you'll potentially have a premier with empty seats around the place.

        • Same here, no reissue and no cancellation. Wonder if we will get a new ticket from V in the end or not. Let me know how it goes.

For us, our baby sitter just pulled out with other plans, so don't think I can go either way. Will be annoying if ticket is valid and we aren't able to go :-p

But yeah, seems silly to cancel all tickets and run with mostly empty seats. If you don't get a cancellation email, you should definitely try it. The seats will just go to waste anyway.

        • I think (if this is possible) maybe Fox will be able to see the URL you came from to get to the Fox RSVP page. If it's https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/232625, then will possibly be rejected. If the V page then probably fine.

Although I have received an email, so would expect if you haven't received one, it should be fine.

        • ?

        • @gccmelb: what are those numbers means?

        • What about the other V sessions which were not linked from the V page which has been posted. It's unclear whether those are also part of the first-come-first-serve promotion (possibly posted by V elsewhere etc) or reserved for a specific purpose.

When you say security guards will ensure only correct people attend, can we assume that IF a ticket to ANY V session is re-issued, then it is in fact valid and we are fine to attend and won't get turned away at gate?

          Thanks for the clarifications.

        • @fruxo: Hi fruxo, if the tickets were genuinely obtained as part of the V Energy Drink promotion you will receive a replacement ticket. If the tickets were obtained via illegitimate channels (either intentionally or unsuspectingly) you will receive an email explaining that the ticket is invalid and will allow entry into a cinema.

Unfortunately there quite a few illegitimate links posted on this thread so the above method is the only way to be sure.

The original deal posted wasn't sketchy. The other screenings discovered further down in the comments via URL alteration were the sketchy part.

  • Can people advise on here when they get their replacement V ticket so others know they should be getting them soon. Thanks

    • agreed, im not too sure whats going on. I saw a guy post the link to the V promotion in a facebook group. Havent recieved a cancellation or replacement yet..

  • I received my reissued V promotion Deadpool tickets today. Don't expect a reissue if the ticket wasn't for one of the public V promo sessions http://v-energy.com.au/world-of-v/deadpool.

"Thank you for your RSVP to the V DEADPOOL preview screening. Please note that we need to reissue all e-tickets/entry passes for this event due to an online processing error.

Please dispose of the ticket previously received as it is no longer valid and be sure to print out your new entry passes using the link below. To gain admittance to the event you must bring a printed copy of this e-ticket and photo ID."

    • I just received reissued tickets, too. So this means we can legitimately attend the movie?

      • Yes. If you get a reissued ticket, enjoy the free movie.

        • Done. I also sent you my banking details just in case you need them.

        • Now we're just playing edit tag. :p Sorry, I actually took the time to read back and answered my own question. Appreciate the genuine reply, though. :)

  • +1

    Just received my reissued tickets

  • +1

Sweet, what a journey. After all that I ended up with reissued tickets after all.

    • You said you got a V ticket not through landing page. But was it the same session/number? Brisbane for example was 1953, not sure about the others. However, there was other links to V sessions which were held at same place and time. I'm trying to figure out if you got tickets from linked session or another V session. Not sure what the deal is with the other sessions and if public links were available for them too (I'm guessing not).

Anyway, I got a V session but from a different page number. I have not gotten reissued tickets nor a cancellation email. At this stage it's unlikely I can attend either way, but I'm very curious.

      • Yeah the same session time as I registered for before.

  • Just copped mine :) , just to make sure i have two tickets under my name, so i can bring a friend right? haha

  • +2

So i was refused entry today at 1:30 pm with my RSVP tickets that i received in my email :(

What can i do now, who to contact?

    • Did you use the re-issued ones we received yesterday?

      • I didnt receive the reissued ones

        • +1

okkaay unfortunately thats probably why, apparently there was quite a few illegitimate tickets and those who copped them wouldnt have received the re issued ones.
Just out of curiosity, what did the event look like and what were the type of people being let in?

        • -1

@ryeyo: i have no idea how could the illegitimate ones be sent out through rsvp. Normal people, few suits but most others were dressed casually. Its a vmax session and people that came would barely fill out 1/5 of the cinema…

I have no idea why they wouldn't accept the tickets and allow us in, its ridiculous.

        • @drazenm: Yeah neither, read up above if you want there's some fox people explaining it. Really? thought would be packed

        • @ryeyo:

          Really, barely 50~75 people max.

        • +1

There's no one to contact, if you didn't receive replacement tickets then the ones you had weren't valid. The only ones valid from what I can tell were the V ones as most if not all of those were reissued.

        • @rmk:

This. The ones you got weren't legit, so there's no one to contact.

        • @drazenm:

I have no idea why they wouldn't accept the tickets and allow us in, its ridiculous.

How did you get your tickets?
It might have been one of the media/family sessions - not one of the V promotion sessions.
So the idea isnt to pack the cinema but rather its a select (private) viewing.

        • -1

          @voter1:

Do you ever get tired of being always the "to be right by the rules and regulations that are in place etc"

    3d1234567890123

    • Just don't bother, if it hasn't been reissued then it's not worth the hassle

    • it's everything after the 3D starting with 9

      which showing did you get?

      • Chermside

        6:30pm

    • The reissued tickets are very different, barcode is two letters (not 3d) and then 6 numbers.

  • Any success for those who didn't get reissued tickets?

  • +1

I neither got a reissued ticket nor a cancellation email. I won't attend the session (tomorrow), but it makes me suspicious that maybe the original ticket would have worked. Would be interesting if others in similar position could comment on their success once they've tried to attend.

    • +1

The re-issued V-promo tickets have a completely different format and barcode to the original . They are also sent from a different email address to the FoxRSVP one.

    • What tickets did you get? I got the original, then the reissued tickets. I only went with the 6.30pm movie, not the one with pizza and beer.
