      Love it!

Anyone know how these compare to Bose QC25 or equiv? I like my bass but highs as well. I need some for holiday travelling so feedback appreciated.

    • +2

      I had QC25 hence commenting.
Bose has better NC but sound quality wise these are very very good. I love listening to Jazz on these and have solid bass as well.
I bought these for $210 a year ago and for $84 seriously you cant really go wrong.

      • +1

Thanks. I borrowed a mates audio technica Anc9 on a flight OS and they were great [95% nc]but haven't compared any others.

  • +1

How well does the noise cancelling work?

    • +1

Not as good as Bose but not bad either.

      • +1

        Cheers, thanks for that.

Edit: Picked up a pair, see how they go. =)

        • +2

Same here! OZB been getting a thrashing lately….not good for the pocket….but it feels good.

        • +3

@Scotch: How could something so wrong feel so good?

      • +2

Worth it for the current price.

    • I need to know if these allow noise to escape like beats?

      • +1

almost all reviews I have read say yes.

still a great buy, just not ideal for the office it seems.

    Need to resist….
Very similar design with my harman kardon..
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/165540

    • Similar design ? I thought it looks very different in design until the old link is popping up a different result.

      • Similar in the head band part..

  • Any comment on comfort?

    • +1

Headphone pads are very comfortable and sit perfectly over the ears…the rest I believe will be very subjective

  • I am missing something in the checkout from Amazon
"Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address." when I choose Melbourne Australia address?
    Domestic (USA) shipping only?

    • Choose sold by 'Deal of Fame'. It's still showing in stock.
Neither have they mentioned less than 'x' left, means enough stock.

  • Looks like only the silver version is available to ship to Australia … the black one does not work (even from Deal of Fame).
Makes it a bit easier to resists … but a great deal.

    • Thanks for pointing that, updated post

      • +2

Hehe … wanted the black. But I found a way to save a bit on shipping by selecting a parcelpoint drop off (which is only 500m from my house) and ended up with USD51.98 … so around $73.59 when using my 28degrees card … another $10 off :-).

There is one Amazon review which says the noise cancellation is useless and worse than the Sony … but for that price I am happy to give it a go.

  • i see the cable is 4 feet long…is it possible to get an extension to connect to tv or stereo???

is the quality of any extension important???

    cheers

    • +1

Assuming it's a 3.5mm connection extension cables are really cheap from MSY and the like. Quality of the cable has zero impact.

      • -1

Yeah, that's why people spend hundreds of dollars upgrading the cables on high end sennheisers…What you say is only true of digital signals.

        • -1

People waste money on plenty of useless things. There's no evidence anyone can tell the difference between "high end" audio cables and bog standard ones and plenty of evidence of the contrary. Here's one example by Ars:

          http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/07/340-audiophile-ethern…

        • @Autonomic:

This exactly. Have personally bought high end cables due to the placebo effect. A blind test with the same headphones will confirm that there is a lack of difference in PRAT and/or SQ between decent cables and high end cables for yourself.

Recorded and graphed freq responses even yield identical results.

        • Your article is talking about digital cables. The difference might be small, but your comment that the cable quality has zero impact isn't correct.

        • @blackmagic:

The article the poster above me mentioned was incorrect as you mentioned. This is a much better one.

Never specifically mentioned zero impact (this would be wrong, high freq graph shows variation). I mentioned the lack of audible difference in PRAT and SQ.

People don't spend hundreds of dollars in money for an audible upgrade in 'audio performance' which in itself is subjective. They spend it for the most part due to the placebo effect - and the perception of it sounding different.

          @yuuki:

          I'm reminded of this

          http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AKDL1-Dedicated-Discontinued-Man…

          Check the reviews

"Transmission of music data at rates faster than the speed of light seemed convenient, until I realized I was hearing the music before I actually wanted to play it. Apparently Denon forgot how accustomed most of us are to unidirectional time and the general laws of physics. I tried to get used to this effect but hearing songs play before I even realized I was in the mood for them just really screwed up my preconceptions of choice and free will. I'm still having a major existential hangover.

          Would not purchase again."

@DJR9000: thanks for giving me a headache late afternoon on a thursday mate :(

  • +1

thanks OP. got one. classic ozb impulse purchase.

  • Thanks Op bought one. I'm not sure when I will need it though lol. Plane? That's next year :(

  • cant seem to get the black one to be picked up in Aus anymore… :(

    • +2

I have mentioned in the post, that the deal is limited to iron/silver color. Black color for some reason is not being shipped to Aus even by same seller.
Seems I need to watch Australia's Border Protection more carefully to understand the catch ;)

      • "Colour is everything…", being houso of Marley is probably 'nuff already. Good buy. Look up your parcel point before ordering and insert parcel point name at location/post code for quick find by amazon.

Just bought one. Great deal. Tried these in job hifi and they sounded and felt great.

Completely unnecessary purchase but I just couldn't resist the bargain.

    Good job anuryry!

  • I wish there were some noise cancelling headphones that took power from the device (e.g. phone, tablet or computer). I guess that would require a USB connection or Apple's Lightning cable (which may be the only option for upcoming iPhones).

  • Got a pair after checking out reviews and unboxings on youtube. Don't know much about headphones but these are a great price and I like the look of them. Thanks OP

  • One question… OP says in this post that "They eat AAA batteries and are hungry, but run without batteries as well if Noise Cancelling not needed."

The official House of Marley website also says that "Even if they run out, you're not left stranded without music, TTR headphones work without them."

But I have looked at reviews that tends to suggest otherwise…For example:

CNET- "It's not possible to play music without noise cancellation enabled, so if your batteries are flat, you'll get no sound whatsover."

    or

geekbeat.tv - "disappointingly, they will not function at all without batteries"

So can anyone who own this is able to clarify if the headphones work without batteries at all?

    Thanks =)

  • Hey, how can i get it shipped to NSW 2145? Site says not eligible to ship to AU.

        Right just had a play
With Noise cancellation OFF (i.e. Just normal headphones no batteries), its slightly muffled almost like head in a bucket scenario - Gives the impression sound is flat but its still ok if batteries have run out.
With Noise cancellation ON there are Fantastic Crisp Highs, good mids, and Bass is good but prob prefer a lil bit more.
The cord controls have volume up, down, and pause. On my LG G3, only Pause works, so I'm guessing this is only working on Apple Devices and not Android.
Comfortable over the ears - Slight pressure in the middle of the head from the bridge - not sure how it will go on the plane for a long period of time - I'll give that a crack in a few days.
Packaging is exceptional and one gets the feeling overall, that its definitely a quality product.
Overall I am pleased - Thanks anuryry for your post.

Very well put and structured experience…i share very similar thoughts as u do about these headphones.

        • great review, I agree with all. Three additions:

          • lots of detail in the sound, great set at this price point
          • noise cancelling is ok when listening to music at the same time, not very good on it's own (when no music playing)
          • when noise cancelling is of, use a different EQ setting to increase the highs (treble), it gets rid of some of that muffled feel.
    • Yeah I'm kinda surprised by these. Not necessarily in a good way. I mean they were a steal at this price but I couldn't imagine paying $299 for these.

I find it very hard to believe these are actually made of leather. Feels and smells more like a synthetic material. I find the head band extremely stiff and tight, they're not very comfortable at all to wear longer than 30 mins. These are my first noise-cancelling headphones. To be fair I'm not that interested in the noise-cancelling part, but I didn't think it would affect the sound so much. These are more like "active" headphones with some extremely heavy-handed EQ-ing and volume boost going on when activated. And when not activated they sound vastly different - dull, mushy and the volume dips significantly.

I'm a big fan of the general design, the case, and the fact they come with 2 different braided removable headphone cables - but I guess I like my headphones to be a little more transparent.

  • Bought a pair. Nice sound, pity the bridge is made for small heads. Not comfortable to wear.

  • I got a pair, nice for the price approx $78 after delivery. With the noise cancellation on the sounds seems better, BUT at the cost of a background hiss which is quite annoying, turn the noise cancellation off the sound is dull. Sound volume doesnt work with a Sony Z5 (Android). After double checking, disappointingly no joints of weed are secreted into the accessory box, how could it be a real Bob Marley "earth friendly" product?!

  • I got mine today, and WTF one side doesnt have sound. I need to jig the mini-adapter around so I can intermittently get the other side working…This is very disappointing! :(

    • Sorry to hear that mate…go to amazon chat and ask them for options you have. They are extremely customer centric and hopefully will gv u a satisfactory solution.
