whats wrong with Kogan? i need port out of optus next month and considering Kogan because of on sales and port back in with optus..

    • What is it… Vodaphone?

PS Whose mobile service is Kogan reselling here…?

      • Yep, Vodafone 3G. (Kogan 2.0 launched October 2015 on Voda 3G, apparently 4G expected early 2016)

  • +2

What happened to 4G coming in early 2016? Another Kogan empty promise?

  • +5

Discount the yearly by 70% and we can talk.

  • +1

They probably put the price up 70% before discounting it.

  • When did Kogan Mobile start again?

  • Is this a once off discount for the first month or can I buy a whole year's worth at the discounted rate?

    • No the 90days and 360day plan are regular price. The yearly plan at regular price works per 30days to $25.06/3GB and $30.81/5GB

      • Actually I should've rephrased my question:

Could I buy 12 lots of the 30 day plan au the discounted rates?

I did something similar when amaysim first had their discount recharges (I.e. not sim starter pack)

        • +1

Then you'd have to pay the new customer fee 12 times as you'd essentially be signing up as 12 different customers

New customers need one-off sim starter pack for $4.90

Doubt they'd let you stack them on the one mobile number/plan

        • @Firey1989:

          But I wouldn't be a new customer?
I'm trying to see where the discount says it applies to new customers only

        • +2

          @edrift:

Any one incl existing customers can benefit renewing the 30day plan at the discounted rate.

Cannot stack. Data expires on next recharge if earlier than 30days.

          From info & terms
"Unused data expires on next recharge, the beginning of the next 30 day block or expiry date of the recharge, whichever is earlier. For 30 Days Prepaid Plan: data expires after 30 days or upon next recharge, whichever occurs first"

I got a kogan sim back in October last year (they were 0.05$ then!) will try activating the 5GB plan on that later today. $10/m for 5GB is pretty good.

        • @scar4ace:

          Thanks mate!

  • Good to use as a Burner data phone, for extra data 5GB for around $10 is excellent value.

    • What happen after 31/3/16? back to original price?

      • +1

Yep. Deal is to 31st March, although Kogan Mobile website says UNLESS EXTENDED. So who knows. With all the excellent 7GB/10Gb deals flying around for around $40 or less, I think Kogan need to do something to become competitive.

Till then Ive got 5GB for $10 which is pretty good :).

Given what happened to me last time I went to me last time I went to Kogan, I'll pass.

  • +1

I cant believe people would go back to kogan after being burnt the first time.

  • +1

I finally activated on the 5XL plan for $10.95 after managing to find the Kogan nano sim that I got back in October for $0.05. :).

Have to say being on Telechoice for last 2 years, the Kogan sign up/activation experience + their usage app has been surprisingly good.

But I find the Virgin $40 deal good value to replace my TC. The kogan will be secondary for couple of months.

  • $4.90 for the sim is the deal breaker.

    • +1

SIM price is back to 5c delivered.

  • I just saw this.
Apparently VF network is pretty good these days though not sure if I'd jump on with 3G only.
Network coverage should be a bit better with 4G, as well as speed of course.
$8.95 for 3GB is about the best you can get these days but I still have HEAPS of data saved up on my Telstra prepaid mobile BB SIM.

Anyway, I got 5 Kogan SIMs for 25c late last year when they were on sale so I might activate a SIM to is in a mobile WiFi router.

Is FV 3G mostly 900 Mhz these days or still mostly 850?
I have a Telstra Buzz so not sure if I'll get anything on 900

  • Just ported from Lebara to Kogan — the port literally took 10 min. Very impressed. Thanks OP

  • Just to double check, since they've now extended this deal another month - at the end of the 30 days do we need to port over to Optus/Telstra and back to get another $10.95 or will a recharge work at that price? ie is $10.95 the first month only?

EDIT: - can renew for discounted rate as long as before deal expiry (currently 31/03/2016)

Looks like my question is answered, nice! BTW, Offer extended to 31/04/2016

    • +1

29/04/2016 is the correct new expiry date. I wouldn't be surprised if Kogan continue to extend this for the next few months whilst they get a customer base again.
