  • If only the price can be more competitive. I love the grandfather $20 plan though 1G was a little bit tight.

    • Hey Mily,

We agree that 1GB was a little tight, and the excess data rate on that grandfather plan was unfortunately quite high. For an extra $8 we now give you 1.5GB more and $500 of calls more than that old plan has! Better safe than sorry :p

    Nothing ground breaking here…

  • Isn't this a much better option:
    $40/mth, no contract
    - 10GB Data (6GB + 2GB online only bonus + 2GB bonus when you get a new number or switch networks)
    - Unlimited STD NTL Calls, Text & MMS
    - $300 International Calls & Text Included
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/233199

    • Hey Bcdad,

That one you've posted ends today, these ones are available for a while longer, even to customers not switching from other networks. ;)

    • yes, but not everyone needs 10gb :)The $28 plan looks attractive since it seems like the $1000 cap includes international calls too and you get 2.5gb. 12 month contract though…..

    • +2

Except that's on the Optus network. I don't think you can really compare plans across networks.

  • Typo in $28 plan .. Included Data 2.5MB ?

Also I did the switch to $38-8gb plan last month, is it possible I change my plan to this $28 instead?

    • Hey Thomsont,

That $28 plan definitely has 2.5GB and not 2.5MB ;)

This is available to new and existing customer, although plan changes would depend on your situation - could you please email this message with your account number to [email protected]

      • Seen the webpage still with typo.

Also it seen the new SIM with better reception in some area, also good to hear that all LIVE plan will automatically switch to 4G when it is available.

        Really looking forward.

  • Nice plans. Is it still Telstra 3G network?

    • +1

      Hey Arctan,

While TeleChoice currently uses part of the Telstra 3G network, Telstra has announced that a 4G mobile service will be available to us by no later than June 2016 :D

      • Will everyone switch over to 4G access or will we need to sign on to a new plan?

        • +1

          Hey Scubacoles,

Everyone on a LIVE plan will be moved automatically.

Anyone not on a LIVE plan will need a new SIM. If you are not on a LIVE plan, please email [email protected]

  • Some of my friends have very painful experiences with Telechoice, such as miscalculate data usage, shocking bills, etc. Just be careful. You get what you paid.

    • +1

I was with telechoice 6 months back and i did not have any issue. Data usage reported on TC was almost similar to reported by mobile data usage. If $28 plan becomes $25, i would jump in.

    • Hey Coolbbb888,

We are sorry to hear about their bad experiences. We have been working on our billing and usage platform a lot over the past year - we now have real time usage alerts and the ability to buy $10/GB data packs - data bill shocks are really a thing of the past on our newer, LIVE plans.

  • Do these include international MMS?

I'm already on Telechoice and I've noticed the mobile data is a bit flakey. I'd just be sitting there on the train trying to load the OzBargain front page while everyone around me is facebooking perfectly smoothly. Have tried Vodafone 4G which seemed to be more reliable. Are there any actions we can take if we do not get 4G by June 2016?

    • Hey ChillBro

The $1000 included value on the $28 LIVE 12M plan can be used for international MMS.

Telstra has promised that a 4G mobile service will be available to us by no later than June 2016 - it already being tested as we speak.

      • I'm thinking of upgrading to that plan but can you guarantee we will get 4g by June? And if we don't get it, let us port out with no penalties? I've found 3g on public transport is pretty much unusable.

  • if only this is not a contract…. and can you guarantee plan of that 4g telstra?

    • Hey Eisinwire,

We do also have no lock in plans, but they don't have the bonus data ;)

Telstra has announced that a 4G mobile service will be available to us by no later than June 2016, so you can take that as a guarantee.

      • yeah, but this whole post is about BONUS :)
thanks for the guarantee, will the 4G speed coverage etc etc will be the same 100% with telstra direct customers?
also what will happen after 1 year contract finish, will we still get the bonus and goes to month to month basis ie no contract?

        • Hey Eisnwire,

After the contract period finishes the plan will be the same, without the bonus data or a lock in contract

        • @TeleChoice: ah, thats a deal breaker. sorry i wont join

        • +1

          @eisniwre: +1
This detail should really be included in the deal!

        • +3

          Hey Eisniwire and GreenGuava,

Ive got an update on this one sorry - You actually will keep the bonus data after your contract has finished until you either leave or change your plan.

Hopefully that sweetens the deal ;)

  • Do you guys have a way to track data usage easily yet? I.E. Via an app or mobile friendly website?

    • +2

      Hey Glowstix047.

We have an even easier way. If you are on a LIVE plan, you can dial the code *159# and it'll come up straigh on the screen - no app or website needed.

      • I never knew about that - thanks!

        • no wories ;)

      • I just tried that on my phone and I get USSD Code Running followed by Connection Problem or invalid MMI code. What am I doing wrong?

Also on the usage notification I got this morning it states that usage is up to 48 hrs behind which I'd argue is not real time. Is that still the case or isn't it retrospective to exsisting users?

        Cheers,
        Carl.

        • Hey Carl,

Sounds like your not on one of our LIVE plans. Please email [email protected] so we can organise to move you accross to our LIVE platform

        • @TeleChoice:

Hi, related to this I just sent a message via the members area to request a transfer from the current 'Global Liberty' plan to this along (12month liberty plan expired oct last year so hopefully no cost to change) and the point about requiring a new sim card (hopefully no charge also)

Reference is 5242929 based on the ID in the members area.
Hopefully it gets directed to the right place

        • @TeleChoice:

just wondering if I need to do anything apart from the message I sent via the service desk?
havent had a response today, but your message below indicates 1-2 days. Just want to know that a service desk message is sufficient to get this plan change done

  • Hi rep, quick question- is this plan eligible for existing users. I updated my plan three days ago to the $38 plan with 4gb of data.

    • Hey Trippyfoo,

This plan is to new and existing customer, although plan changes would depend on your situation - could you please email this message with your account number to [email protected]

      • Hi rep, just wondering whats the turnaround time with regards to emails? I sent one yday afternoon regarding our conversation.

        • Hey Trippyfoo,

Response will normally take 1 - 2 working days. If you private message us with your email address I can follow up for you

        • @TeleChoice: thanks for that. Pm incoming

        • @TeleChoice: So i've just received a response from customer service. My understanding reading the email is that they don't have the information to help me? or can't move me across..

          I've pasted the email -

          Hi ….,

Your plan was successfully migrated to Live $38 (4GB) on 9th of Feb 2016 and we just copy your existing contract that will end on 24 Sept 2016. The Live $38 (6GB) Plan is currently not available yet on our system. The update we just received from our head Office was actually informing us that the Live$38 (6GB) plan will be pooling out soon from the website.

Should you have further enquiries feel free to call us at 1300 83 53 24 for immediate assistance or you can also check your Members Area just log-on www.TeleChoice.com.au.

          Thanks,
          - Customer Care

I just signed up for $28 plan (12M) last week for 1.5GB data. Now the promotion offers 2.5Gb data. I called up to get it updated to the new plan. But they said it is only for the new customers only. With me signing up for less than a week, they cannot change it to the new plan. They only want new customers, once you are joined, you are an old customer will get forgotten.

    • see above posts, few people had the same issue and the rep asked them to send email direct to them…

      • +3

Hope this rep has more power over the one on the phone as he wanted to charge $180 to disconnect the 6 days old plan and connect me to the new one. I have email him the detail. I will update the status here.

        • Isn't there a 10 day cooling off period for contracts?

        • Update:
Just called up telechoices again as instructed. I need to pay $50 plan change fee if I want the promotional plan $28 on 12M contract. The charges could be waived if I sign up for 24M contract. I chose the latter as I am looking forward for the 4G Telstra signal.

This is my second mobile number with telechoices. My first number was with telechoices for almost 2 years with no problem. After its 12M contract was over, telechoices offered me a plan for $30, that gives $2000 calls and 3GB data. That is a good deal.

        • Hey Macrocephalic,

There is no cooling off period when you initiate the sign up yourself. What you can do is go with a no-lock in plan and move to a promotional plan when you're happy.

        • @TeleChoice: good! please update your post i believe this will make a big difference, timing is good too as many tpg customers dont like using voda

    • Hey Fatice,

Could you please call us on 1300835324 and press option 1 to discuss further.

  • im with tpg $16.99 no contract, using VODA, $550 calls incl international and 1.5GB data.
would move to $28 plan is a good idea? im close to using 1.4gb data each month but very rare using the calls..

    • Hey Eisnwire,

      Thanks for sharing that :)

  • Hi Rep,
Please can you let me know what the plans would be after 6th March
My Contract Doesnt end until another 45 days atleast
    Thanks

    • Hey Chatterbox,

At this stage, the plans will revert to their amounts without the bonus data (highlighted in bold) after the promotional period.

  • Does the bonus apply to handset plans?

You guys need to get a better range btw!I want a nexus 5x!

    • Hey Jimmej,

Not at the moment, but keep an eye on our website ;)

    Post via Facebook:
Hey Telechoice. I'm with you guys. I love your service. I got Mum and Dad to join up too. I saw online that Telstra is giving all users free data all day Sunday. We use Telstra's 3G network with Telechoice. Do we get free data this Sunday too?

    Telechoice reply:
    Hey Kimberley,
Yes, TeleChoice customers will also get free data this Sunday. This free data will apply from Sunday 14/02/2016 12am AEDT to Monday 15/02/2015 3am AEDT. Please PM us if you needed any more info.

    • Hey Koplik,

Thanks for pointing this out :) An official statement on the bonus data to come.

  • +2

Just emailed you Telechoice Support to upgrade to the new Live $28 plan. Cheers for the post! I love the service. Been with Telechoice 2 years in Darwin. I changed Mum and Dad over too. We call each other for free all the time. The live email and txt when you use half your credit is excellent. Funny the other telcos never do this and then you get slapped with a huge bill!
Thanks Te,echo ice and keep up the great work

  • Why does it say on your website, minimum cost $456 for the $48 plan over 12 months.
    Is that a special deal?

  • Hey Albanyson,

Unfortauntely not ;) sound like a typo. Could you please link the page for me?

  • Hi Rep, what happens after 12 months? Do u lose the bonus data?

    • No, you keep it

      • Hey Dt12,

Yep, Ozhunter is correct, the bonus data will stick with you as long as you stay on the plan :)

  • +1

I have been with TC for 10 months - other than slower customer service, service in general is good. Very good value - especially the 3G network is always available (except that incident few days ago) and speed is quite good.
Glad I have made the switch from TPG to TC!
