PSP 2002 Model at David Jones $129 -NEW

600

Just bought a new one from them at David Jones Doncaster Westfield. Some of them have been opened for display & they told me they can give extra 5% off for those. This is my 1st post. Hope someone can benefit from it. They aren't in catalogues so need to check the store. They still have 3-4 left when I bought mine.

    PSP 2002 model hackable?

    • -3

      most probably it's the phat version, then yes it's hackable

    • It's actually the first slim and lite, and it's easily hackabke with a pandora battey (like $9 from dealextreme)

  • -1

    Is this at all David Jones?

  • Sounds like a bargain to me, hope it's available Australia wide though.

  • Just one question, is this the fat or the slim version?
    Thanks

  • Hell yes!! Hackable PSPs new $129!! Buy the console and a decent sized micro SD (plus convertor) and you are set!

  • Hey was just searching about this model and didnt realise that this was the Slim and Lite version, right? I thought it was the old fat ones. It is the Slim and Lite version yerh?

  • +6

    To every idiot who can't google "PSP 2002". ITS THE SLIM VERSION.

  • some versions of the 2002 can be done. not all though. the old ones can.. but the more recent ones (most likely this one cant) my friend has a 2002 that is. so im 100% sure some can be done.

  • Hi,
    I don't really know much about PSP's and was wondering, how can you copy a dvd movie to a micro SD, which can then be played in the PSP? Thanks in advance

  • +1

    The fact that the model no. starts with 2 means it's a slim n lite version.
    1 = phat which are all completely hackable(custom firmware installation).
    2 = slim n lite, only the OLD ONES are completely hackable.
    3 = brite, none of which are completely hackable.
    You can find more info on it here: http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=183671

    The problem is, you can't really tell whether a PSP is the new or the old version of the slim n lite right from the box.
    But fortunately for that price, you can't really go wrong.

    I don't know why people prefer micro SD, but if you get a micro SD card, you'll need a micro SD to pro duo adapter. (so that it fits inside the PSPs)
    I have the old slim n lite, meaning it's fully hackable and I use a pro duo 4gb hispeed.
    And yes you can put movies, songs, pictures and even games (assuming you hack it) onto the micro SD/pro duo card and play it with the PSP.

    • Ok .. so you can put movies. But how?

      Actually you can tell from the box by looking on the side near the barcode. Whether a PSP 2000 is hackable or not depends on what firmware it comes with.

      The letter on the side of the box indicates what firmware it has.
      (No Letter) = 3.60
      A = 3.71
      B = Doesn’t exist
      C = 3.72
      D = Doesn’t exist
      E = 3.80
      F = 3.90
      G = 3.95 (TA-088v1) / 4.01 (TA-088v2) / 4.01 (TA-088v3)

      All PSP 2000's are hackable except the 4.01 (TA-088v3) as this is when Sony changed the motherboard to block hacking. So look on the side of the box for one of those letters up to G.

      I was about to post that same link so people should look there for more info.

    • @ leonheart1 - the reason why people prefer microSD is it is heaps cheaper (have a look on ebay). Plus, I can use a microSD to SD adapter and use it in my camera (most people have SD cameras). Plus I can use a microSD in my Blackberry. They are just more versatile!

    All gone now.

    They had 4 left. Only available at Doncaster apprently. With everyone in front of me buying 2 each (and one guy actually pushed in and snatched 2), I could not get one.

    Anyway, that's how it is with bargains. Would have preferred people buy 1 each and let other people have them.

    Voting postive coz. it is a good deal and the poster actually only bought 1 and let other people have a chance.

  • bought mine @ jb hifi

  • save your petrol as it is all gone and only available at westfield store.

  • damn.

    Only if i didnt buy my PSP 3002 yesterday for $259 at JB :(

  • Any chance they might match this deal in a diff store?

    • +1

      Unlikely, since most stores (e.g. OfficeWorks) will check stock availability before agreeing to price match.

      I asked the staff to check other David Jones stores and was told that it is only available at Doncaster (probably clearing old stock). Really wish it is Australia wide, rather than just one store.

    The $129 price was available at DJ in chatswood but they had no stock left.

    Sigh.

    Impulse buy fail.

  • No go at Robina Gold Coast store, checked today

  • no go at Warringah Mall NSW

  • What Is the latest version of the psp excluding GO, psp 3000, 3001??

  • +1

    no go at burwood westfield nsw

  • I can't believe these many people response on this & I totally agreed that should be 1 per customer. Give other people a chance to enjoy the benefit as well. Anyway, I hope someone can find more stock at another store. I love this site.:)

  • It is not only PSP 2002.
    It is actually for PSP 2002 and older (even PSP 1000, 2000).
    According to David Jones sales, they want to clear the old stock.
    You better ring up and reserve before you go.
    If you are really desperate but no stock left, you can get the display model as well.
    I have PSP 1000 for a long time but I bought PSP 2002 for the following reasons
    1. TV-out so that I can play PSP on 32" LCD TV
    2. 64MB RAM so that I can use the "save state" hack which only available for 2002 and above

    The DJ I went to has 1 PSP1000 and 1 PSP2002 I left.
    I chose PSP2002 for above 2 reasons + PSP2002 comes with 4GB memory stick duo vs PSP1000 comes with 1GB memory sticj duo.

  • i managed to buy the last one at Hornsby DJ, but how do I know if it's hack*able?? it doesnt have the letter that "manbearpig" mentioned…

    All it has near the barcode is:

    POS BAR CODE

    <Barcode>
    711*****5

    POUR ULTILISATEUR

    Anyone know how I can tell if it's hack*able by looking at the box? BTW on the box it also says PSP 2002 PB, Media manager for PSP edition + Includes 4gb memory stick duo…

    • homersyd, what time did you pick up yours?
      I went to Hornsby DJ at 4:20pm and there were 2 left.
      One PSP1000 and one PSP2002.

      • i went prolly about 4:40pm, the guy told me that's the last one. So did you get the PSP1000?

        • +1

          I went there at 4:10pm
          Sales told me that there were 3 left.
          1 PSP1000 and 2 PSP2002.
          I was about to buy the 2 PSP2002 but I decided to leave it for someone else.
          So I ended up getting just 1 PSP2002

          • @tg: hahaha, guess I owe u a "thank you" then…for sharing the love :)

  • Is it just the Psp only or does it come with a memory card as well?
    Going to my local DJ tomorrow, hopefully some left

    • The PSP2002 I bought comes with 4GB memory stick duo

  • My brother managed to pick one up in Sydney. He told me it is the G 3.95 model. This is hackable. I don't believe they are still selling this model.

  • It didn't come with 4GB card. The one I had is brand new & no memory in the box?! Did anyone who bought the display version got the extra 5% off?

    • My brother bought the displayed model and received 10% off.

  • donkeykong which state did you buy from, NSW?
    Anyone here got this deal in NSW

    • Sydney is in NSW.

  • anyone know if theres any in brisbane?

  • Phoned the Brisbane yesterday store they only stock the 3000 model

  • +1

    DJ Parra dont have any left

  • +1

    DJ Newcastle appears to have 1 more. No need to try Burwood NSW, Campbelltown NSW and QVB NSW

  • Went to DJ's at lunchtime today in Pitt Street, Sydney. No PSP 2002 models left.

    But they did have 1 Pink Edition PS2 for $79. I think it came with 2 controllers :)

    Thanks for posting this bat.

  • DJ Hornsby has PSP-1000 for $129.
    They have 2 left.

    • Didn't someone say they bought the last one a few post back?

      • +1

        Yes, me and homersyd bought the last two PSP-2002
        but they still have 2 x PSP-1000 (the Phat version) left for $129.
        If you do not care about the weight, it is good value as well.
        Also, don't bother getting their display model PSP-2002.
        They have 2 display models for PSP-2002.
        One got permanent 0.8cm vertical strip at the right side of the screen.
        The other's screen seems to be damaged; you can see the shape of the thumb in the middle of the screen.
        Someone must have preeesed the screen so hard with his thumb.

    • interesting…tg, I thought after we bought ours, they should have only 1 left…maybe it's a refund?! :)

  • I just went to Myer & they have the PSP 2002 model but I don't know how much they are selling. Wondering will they match price. Someone can try them out if anyone still interested.
