Dallas buyers club is in there. Only 5 days till it expires.

They hate people pirating it yet they give it away for free.

      • +8

No, SBS pays a fee for every view.

        • +7

I downloaded it the day it was in the news - shit movie. No wonder they tried to sue people for illegally downloading it, it obviously didn't make as much at the box office as they'd hoped.

        • +12

And then you do, through your taxes.

        • +3

@zo1dberg: There are adds in the movies, probably enough of them to pay for the views.

        • +9

          @Firey1989:

          Budget $5 million
          Box office $55.2 million

        • +4

@Firey1989: there is taste. Then there is what you have….

        • +1

@Firey1989: It's a good movie you just have shit taste in movies.

        • +1

After all the media about pirating and chasing down Aussie downloaders, I'm not watching this movie, so SBS will not have to pay for my view. Boom!

    • +19

Fantastic movie IMO, the acting alone is worth a watch

  • +1

nice find… looks like I might have a Thursday and Friday night in front of the box.

    • i hope that is innuendo you speak

  • Do they put ads in these films, does anyone know?

    Some good films on there.

    • they do.. around every half an hour I reckon.. maybe its 20 min.

      • +2

Mine always has the same Melbourne Zoo Membership ad. It's almost brainwashed me to become a Zoo member.

I use SBS On Demand for "If You Are The One" reruns. Lol!

        • haha.. I like the show too. Well not so much, that I go and look for it on SBS though!!

    • +6

I wish SBS would fix the ads as the app sometimes fails to reload the film after the ad break if you're streaming from an iOS device to Apple TV via AirPlay. Very frustrating.

      • I assume you have the older AppleTV? The new SBS app is available on the 4th Gen model and it is beautiful app looks the part and always plays smoothly other SVod services should take a look to see how it should be done. Its just a great pity that they haven't released it for the older models as well.

        • Thanks for the tip!

      • +1

Same thing happens on my Samsung smart TV occasionally. It's not just an SBS thing, it also happens if you're watching any of the commercial channel catch up services.

    • Ad block is heaven, seamless skip

  • Its been more than 6 months (I think it is) since the other post by TA was made

    So not a duplicate

  • +15

Holy crap Room in Rome is there.
Two young ladies explore their erm "friendship"

    • ayyyy ;)

    • +22

You're not a frequent SBS viewer, are you?

    • +1

Yeah they even put 9 songs and blue is the warmest color there before. I don't know if scenes were deleted. I was just surprised as you are.

    • +12

there are better ways to watch…'friendship' videos on the internet

      • +2

I enjoy the startling surprise of leaving sbs on in the background late at night, looking up and seeing an eyeful.

      • +7

But how are we going to pretend we're watching that for the artistic reasons though?

        • +5

by sitting down son….dont get up!!!

        • +2

Get a pad and take notes for the essay you will write about it later. Strategically place the pad on your lap to hide the effect of your less artistic reasons.

        • Don't put your hand down your pants

    • +1

      Fantastic F****ng movie, literally

    • +13

Can anyone tell me if "Rochelle Rochelle - An Erotic Journey from Milan to Minsk" is included?

      • -4

        uh …do a search?

      • Isn't it "Rochelle Rochelle", a story of a young woman's erotic journey from Milan to Minsk?

      • +1

I seem to recall this movie was mentioned on seinfeld….(although my aging memory is failing)

  • +33

I really like SBS, they're quite welcome to any of my tax dollars that they're allocated! :D

  • +3

    It has ever been thus.

  • +13
    • +2

      Excellent!

    • My name is….NEO!

  • How long free??

    • uhm ….forever. sbs has always been free

  • +23

There's probably nudity in about 107% of these movies

    • +11

      Averaging 17 nipples per movie

      • +15

Is the original Total Recall in there going by that odd number?

      • +1

        Titillating stuff…

    • +1

Nudity! On the Internet! Whatever next?

    • +2

Most of the stories are about lesbian cats with depression disorders who have a sex change and become spiritual through veganism

  • +13

FYI. If you are watching the videos through chrome with add block, there are no adds.

      • +11

it's not illegal to block adds, it is illegal to pirate :)

        • -8

          it is illegal to pirate

What's that got to do with anything?

        • It's not illegal to download. Illegality requires a law to be broken.

        • @tomkun01: Thank you armchair / internet lawyer. Please see my statement again as you are obviously a word pedant - but I'll state it again IT IS ILLEGAL TO PIRATE. I mentioned nothing about downloading, however to pirate over the internet it is inferred you downloaded (even streaming is downloading) the content without permission from the content owner.

There may or may not currently be a specific Australian law for downloading content you have not officially paid for / rented upon agreement from the content owner - but you know what we mean. BS word play and pedantry does not change that.

        • @gizmomelb: It's illegal to call me names that may hurt me. BS word play and pedantry does not change that.

For the same reason, new drugs are legal until banned. Law must be specific, unless you want to live 4000 years ago under high sheep herders' rules.

        • @tomkun01: I'm sure you hurt yourself more than enough just by the effort you've displayed to us by your understanding of exactly what I've typed previously.

That laws must be specific is so that single minded people (like yourself) who cannot understand INTENT, know exactly what they can and cannot do in regards to the rules of society.

This is wrong in regards to new drugs in my opinion, as the whole INTENT of researching a new drug is to replicate the feelings of euphoria / alteration / escape which are caused by known banned substances. As someone who had a heroin user in their family repeatedly cause emotional and financial distress, I am totally against all drugs - and yes, I am almost a teetotaler as well (having also had a different family member suffer through alcoholism).

That there must be a catalogue of specific laws for those who cannot think for themselves and take responsibility for their own actions saddens me, otherwise such simple guidelines like "Be excellent to each other" would be easy to follow and remember and does not exclude any gender, religion or political belief. But if that is too hard and you cannot think of others and how your actions may affect them, may I suggest another simple guideline - "Don't be a dick" - though that may be harder to follow for some.

        • @gizmomelb: drugs save countless lives each day,yet you're totally against them cos someone you know abused one? Great logic

        • @tomkun01: pedantry once again, recreational drugs obviously. You have no reading comprehension, do you?

I wish SBS would invest more money to improve their SBS On Demand client, making it more stable and adding functions like subtitle and chromecast support.

    • I haven't got a Chromecast but just assumed anything displayed in Chrome could be cast to the Chromecast. Do sites explicitly have to support or permit Chromecast, or is it more about an optimised experience?

      • I open SBS On Demand from its Android app in my tablet more often than a Chrome tab in my PC(Firefox default) so I wish I could cast the movie to the TV directly from my tablet.

    • +1

I watch via PS3. App is buggy as hell.

  • +1

A couple of good Japanese and Cantonese movies I've been wanting to watch. Thank for the link op :)

  • +6

…sbs on demand is a deal now? guess its time for an iview deal as well..?

what is going on with ozbargain…links to youtube, sbs since when are these deals? this is online content thats always been FREE….

    • -1

I'm a new user just like you and I'm doing the best I can to find a deal for everyone. You on the other hand are here purely to criticise other people's deals rather than to make a contribution. I suppose in life there are those that do and those that don't.

      • +2

He is contributing by pointing out that some points devalue the site.

        • +2

thats exactly my point….freely available content doesnt qualify as a deal in my books

        • -1

@franco cozzo: This site has been here 10 years. I think the owners know what constitutes a deal. We've been here 5 minutes. I tend to accept their decision over your opinion.

        • +3

@themob: i raised some fair points…freely available film, tv and docos are all over the net. …. a community such as this is based on multiple points of view and the freedom to voice those opinions….no need to take it so personally mate

      • am i here for that am i? :D

im commenting & querying the 'validity' of a deal that has existed freely ever since sbs has been available…

        eg. are these 'deals'?

  • Is there ANY foreign movies that aren't about sex?

    • A lot

    • YES. the answer is always yes!

  • Do they have the Weather woman?

    • bwahahahah

or weather woman 2, erotic ghost story too perhaps? ;)

  • Cool, now I'll make a sacrifice to the gods and pray on my hands and knees that it doesn't keep crashing on me like it always does!

    Thanks OP, good find nonetheless!

lucky it's a slow day at work :)

        • Thanks battler

        • Can you share how did you manage to copy them like this? (I hope there isn't a view all movies with description option that I've missed)

        • @minty:
View page source, parse the html code.

        • @battler:

Ah, why did I not think of this, thanks matey!

      • +1

Is it possible for you to grab their brief description too?

It's hard in some of these movies coz they're often not wearing briefs for long, but I'll try and describe them to you when I watch the next movie

  • Room in Rome shows particular promise.

  • The only irritating thing about SBS on demand is the ads.

Not really about watching the ads, but for my computer, the ads stream at full HD and results in the ads being stuttering and choppy (and lasting 5 minutes), whereas the actual movies are ok

    • i use ff/greasemonkey & this script:
      http://reek.github.io/anti-adblock-killer/#userscript

      ….ads be gone ;)

      • am getting "the movie you are trying to watch is out of Australia region" or something similar that flashed across the screen and then black screen there after.

        Is this normal?

        • no…
          1. firefox, install greasemonkey addon
          2. install antiadblock
          3. subscribe to block list
          4. it should play with no ads, no popups asking to disable adblocking programs etc

  • Nice find, some very good movies there

  • +1

I love SBS on Demand, not just the movies but their TV shows as well. I just wish they would add Chromecast support.

  • So do you jusr watch these through the website or do they have a special topbox?
