19 inch screen looks hot, for some HD gaming ha ha
or a triple screen setup :)

    • If you're looking at making your own arcade machine, a band-new 19 inch, nearly-square monitor's a pretty good choice, as it's close to what the old arcade games used.

  • The printer is pretty good for laser duplex WiFi at $59

  • RAM : 2 GB
    ROM : 16 GB

    MSY listed wrong specs?

They must have copy pasted from Huawei website for TL09 model.

  • Didn't know they sell phones

Do yourself a favour, put your money towards a better phone. I had so many issues with it. Only positive was the battery life.

    • +3

Can you please tell us what all issues you faced? I've been using this phone for last 8 odd months and is one of the best phones I've owned.

      • +2

How much time do you have? I dont have much time, so here's just a few problems…Phone not receiving about a lot of my calls. Sometimes it makes calls by itself. Lots of lag. Text messages being sent multiple times and received multiple times. Never had these issues with any other android phone I've owned before. I've done a couple of hard resets, with no signs of improvement. I put up with it because it works great with my pebble, which also means I dont need to use it as much (thanks pebble tasker!).

        • +2

Thanks. That's strange as both me and my wife use same phone and never had any such issue. I even recommended it to a few of my friends and they haven't told me of any such issue either. May be you were unlucky to get a dud piece.

Try installing the latest lollipop ROM.

        • @zerocritical: Was that an official lollip update, or a custom firmware? Because the update app on the phone doesn't show me that lollipop available.

        • +2

@Mahogany Granger: it's an official update but not an OTA. You'll need to download it and follow certain steps. Let me find the link and I'll post it here.

Make sure you download the correct ROM.
          TL09 is for 16GB/2GB version
          TL10 is for 32GB/3GB version

          @zerocritical: will do, thank you.

    • Two friends happy with the phone. Details please?

      • +1

See above. Your friends are the lucky ones :) a friend of mine had a very similar experience to me.

    • Completely agree. Hated my Ascent mate 7 and sold it quickly afterwards. Physically the phone is fine, but the OS is just horrible. Freezes, messages lost, notifications never received.

  • The phone is roughly the same price as LG G4 but bigger and better battery life. But would the G4 be a better phone?

    • Better camera and software. I picked LG G4 over MATE 7 at the time when they were the same price. I was quite happy but I don't think I'd regret if I picked the Mate 7, because when I looked at a real phone, It is soooooooooooo beautiful!!

  • Tempted with mate 7 but can't see much bad things on my current galaxy note 3

  • Anyone uses that modem?

  • Is there bloatware? On my Huawei Ascend Y550 from Harvey Norman, there's a couple of ads that pop up every now and then. That experience put me off Chinese phones.

    • I have the y550 too from the HN deal last year. And I did get some ads in Chrome. Reinstalled Chrome and it was gone or use Firefox which is better I think because it lets you install it on the sdcard. Can't move Chrome to the sd card, there's only 4gb storage in the phone.

      • I see. Do you mean pop up ads on chrome?

Mine were uninitiated ads that appeared when I unlocked my screen. The ads were promiscuous pictures of females, dating and games apps ads. Somehow it went away.

        • Yes in Chrome. You may have a different problem then.

        • -1

That experience put me off Chinese phones.

Mate, malware can happen to any phone. Sounds like you just got careless and installed strange apps or sideloaded them.
This can happen to expensive non-chinese brands including iphones.

Try resetting your phone to factory defaults. That should fix your problem. I would do this even if the ads are gone, especially if the phone has been rooted. Rooted devices are a lot easier to compromise.

        • @scrimshaw: I downloaded the same apps on my iPhone and huawei, but only the huawei had those weird uninitiated ads, not the iphone. In fact, there were less apps on the Huawei because of the limited space. Hence my sour experience with Chinese phones.

Also encountered lots of gambling ads on my hongmi note with no installed apps, just for calling/texting. Then again, I suspect this hongmi is a fake having bought it from a "reputable" store in Beijing.

seriously, msy can get things very very cheap.

    • +1

Of course they can. They have branches everywhere to pull off the large volume at better discount off the distributor by eliminating the middle man.

ill hold off on HM7 if i were you, its one of the last phone on last gen SOC a7/a15 arch ARM v7

not that theres anything wrong if you dont care, its just things are moving away to new 64bit Socs and may make alot of incompatibility issues if you intend to keep it for some time.

  • Acer 27" monitor is 224.13 on Amazon…
    (link removed - oops 110V)

    • Looks like it comes with a transformer which can handle 220/240V. All you'd need to do is get a C5 or C13 power cable - whichever it uses.

edit: I'm seeing it priced at ~US$230 shipped anyway, so nevermind.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that this phone is not compatible with lots of 4G networks in Australia. I checked here:
    http://willmyphonework.net/

    • Did you key in the correct model? I got supported for all networks where carrier supports 4g expect telstra and boost. I think only telstra's 4gx is not supported.

      • The model that supports our LTE networks is MT7-L09.

This MT7-TL10 does not support any of our LTE bands.

        • I'm using tl10 and I can confirm using 4g. :)

        • @zerocritical:
Sorry I should mention it doesn't support the primary bands.

About 35% of Optus Sites have Band1-2100MHz and Band40-2300MHz

that's around half of the Optus LTE footprint.

        • @fatty: I'm with vodafone and haven't faced any issues with 4g

        • +1

          @zerocritical:

There are around 70 towers around sunshine Coast and Cairns. http://oztowers.com/Home/Bands

    • the only band the china droids dont have is band 28, so some 4g in some areas, works perfectly fine however! you will still get 4G

  • I need Ozabrgainers opinion here, Is the mate 8 32gb version worth ~230$ more??

  • out of stock
