  • booked dates i can no longer make.. went to change flights and no matter what date i choose it says no fare? any idea of why its doing this or what i should do. if i can't change is there going to be any chance of me getting a refund since they are premium TIA

    • Is there a chance that the dates you are looking at are those which may have been snapped up during this "glitch/promo"? Given the limited seats in that cabin, I would think it would be hard to find a seat….and even if you do, you will have to pay the new prices which are being advertised. You won't get a refund - premium or not - they do not refund for change of mind/incorrect dates…so I guess you just have to consider letting the tickets go…or maybe see if it can be covered by travel insurance?

    • What dates? Maybe you can do a name change if refund isn't an option.

      • apparently there is strictly no name changes

  • Booked last night for Easter 2017. the only remaining date I could find which suit the school holidays. Boo Yeah!

    • What dates did you book? Can't seem to find any…

  • Just got the below email. What are others gonna do? Do you reckon if you reroute through KL it will still be Flat bed?

Indonesia AirAsia X regrets to inform that your AirAsia flight from Sydney (SYD) to Denpasar (DPS) and from Denpasar (DPS) to Sydney (SYD) has been cancelled due to the suspension of the route effective 1 September 2016.

The route suspension is part of a network restructuring aimed at improving operational efficiencies.

Indonesia AirAsia X would like to offer affected guests the following service recovery options:

    1. Move flight to an earlier date before 1 September 2016 without any additional charges, subject to seat availability.

    2. Reroute via Kuala Lumpur on AirAsia flights within 14 days before or after the original flight dates, based on seat availability.

    3. Credit shell – A deposit equivalent to the value of the confirmed booking which can be used as payment for any AirAsia tickets or products, valid up to 6 months (180 days) from the date of issuance.

    4. Full refund equivalent to the value of the confirmed booking and in form of the original payment

    • Not sure and good question, I'm thinking about going in August instead ?.

  • Indonesia AirAsia X is suspending their flights from AU to DPS route after the 1st of September. All flights from then are cancelled.

Too much of a coincidence that this deal applied to flights from October. Time for ozb class action perhaps?

  • Annoying, had onwards flights booked as well with Malaysian (only ~$190 though). If routing through KL still gets you the flatbed, I might do that otherwise probably will just ditch the whole trip.

  • AirAsia's method of market research seems to be to start a new route and see if the customers come. If the customers don't come 'no sweat' just cancel the route!! Very poor form by AirAsia, but they have done it before and they will do it again.

This is disgusting! We have some accomodation and onwards flights booked. I should have got travel insurance but just didnt get around to it before we went away recently. It was literally on my list of things to do this week. Have ZERO interest in going to crummy Malaysia, add all this extra time and layovers. Here goes the hassles of trying to claw money back :(

I have cancelled lots of AA trips and just claimed back the taxes. Also had trips cancelled by them. I have never had a problem with getting the refunds. Just complete their online refund form. Keep the enquiry reference, and if you don't get a positive email within about 3 weeks that it has been approved, complain on their facebook page with the reference number and then they nearly always expedite your case.

      • As far as i can tell the tax is like 20ish% off my onward flights (with airsia too). Getting only 20% would be a terrible outcome.

    • Lesson learnt then eh… always book your travel insurance before you book anything else. Preferably an annual multi trip so you're covered for the entire year!

      • Generally speaking travel insurance won't cover cancellations done by airlines for operational reasons, like this particular case

Dont bother commenting on the SMH article it appears SMH are censoring comments…. fairfax selling aussies down the hole

        • Wouldn't it cover this situation though, for having to cancel other bookings which is what the OP was talking about? (Under cancellations in PDS)

  • anyone having any luck trying to rebook? The aussie and indo numbers just either never ring or don't work. I have probably tried calling hundreds of times and only got through to the indo number once. Apparently the SYD to KL and back leg will still be flatbed, but I didn't go through with the changes as I still have not finalised the dates I want.

Better luck than me. No luck speaking to an aussie, one time i got through it went to a IVR saying leave a mesasage and hung up. No doubt AirAsia have totally thrown their aussie support staff under the bus with this just like us customers. When i spoke to the Indo's they said raise a form online… meh

  • I've just booked Tiger Air flights to replace my cancelled Air Asia flights (Mel to DPS) - pretty much the same times and dates. Cost me a couple of hundred extra for 2 adults and one kid, flights are operated by Virgin Australia International (hopefully should be able to sneak into the Lounge). There were some reasonable Jetstar flights as well. all costing more than my original AA flights, but not devastating to my trip. This is the punt you take booking with discounters. Poor Form, but could be worse off.

  • Tiger Air is offering 20% discount on their flights for affected customers
