Here we have Xiaomi's latest power bank released only days ago and in stock.

The most exciting feature of the power bank is that it supports bidirectional Quick Charge 2.0. This means that you can charge your Quick Charge compatible device using the technology very quickly and recharge the power bank itself quickly with the same technology.

There is a USB Type-C port for recharging the power bank and charging a Type-C compatible device like a Macbook. All other devices can use the full sized USB port with a micro USB cable. A Type-C to micro USB adapter is included for charging the power bank itself.

It's only $36.99 US (~$49.76 AU) delivered using the coupon MIPOWER with free shipping.

Oh wow! The only thing that puts me off is having to use an adapter for MicroUSB

    • Just for charging the power bank itself if you don't have a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable handy.

  • have there been any tests reviews on this unit? i'd like to see how much it can actually charge at 12V and 9V.

  • +1

These powerbanks from Xiaomi are fantastic!

My only gripe is the way they rate their powerbanks.

    This is '10,000mah @ 3.6v'.

Which actually translates to only 7,200mah when charging your phone @ 5v.

I still love my '16,000', though!

    • +8

Everyone rates power banks at 3.6V

the phone's battery capacity is also rated in 3.6V. So it converts back

    • +1

Every other powerbank rates it this exact same way. At least Xiaomi also give you the "real" capacity @5V as well, at least it does on my 16000 powerbank.

  • +4

Just wondering, can this do 5V 3A output?
It'd be great for Nexus users.

    • +1

Good question. I'll find out and get back to you.

    • I dont think so. It does 2.1A max.

    • I've only come across 1 type of 3.1amp battery pack there might be more. But most stock the older 2.1a variant

      http://cager.com.my/products/CAGER-S20-10000mAh-3.1A-Output-…

      Might not be QC though

    • We're not completely sure currently. Xiaomi have been very vague and haven't specified if it's 3A or not.

      • Thanks for asking.

The Ravpower one from Amazon referenced by @sk3iron further down does do 3A output over the type-c port but is also more expensive, though it is larger capacity.

  • Does this work with the Moto X Style? I've found the Moto X Style to be very picky with quick charging capabilities.

    • The Moto X Style is a real hit and miss. I can't say for certain without it being tested, but it should work.

    • I have the Aukey (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Aukey-Quick-Charge-2-0-15000m…) one and that quick charges (Turbo) my Moto X Style without any problem, so I assume Xiaomi could be the same.

  • +1

Damn, it's too difficult to keep up with Xiaomi's powerbank. Already have the:
    1) 2x 5000 mAh slim
    2) 10000 mAh
    3) 16000 mAh
    4) 20000 mAh

This is so tempting with the QC2.0 capability.

  • +1

Ok this thing sounds like an amazing powerbank - but surely overpriced. Maybe we're spoilt by the other awesome but cheap xiaomi powerbanks. Has it just been released? Are sellers trying to skim a bit extra off while its new? What's it sell for in China?

    • +1

It's more expensive due to the Quick Charge capability. The other (cheaper) Xiaomi power banks don't have this feature which is very useful for those with Quick Chargeable phones.

    • You are correct. Price is way too high because it is very new (and use Li-Po instead of cheaper and more common Li-Ion 18650 cell).

Actual price direct from Xiaomi China is 149Yuan which translate to approx US$23

149Yuan is the same price with their 20.000mAh Quick Charge (one way only) powerbank.

Compare that price with other Xiaomi powerbank which released a while ago, which only carry about US$7.5 difference between Xiaomi RRP and reseller normal price.
During reseller sale, this price difference can drop to be as low as US$3.5.

  • I'd buy one of these if I didn't purchase 2x20000mah in the last Sale. And if I didn't get stuffed around on my delivery it took Geekbuying nearly 2 weeks to tell me tnt can't ship it so I have to wait another 15-30 days. Geekbuying shouldn't offer tnt shipping on items they already know will be knocked back. And for this price it should have quick charge 3.0.

    • +1

Geekbuying shouldn't offer tnt shipping on items they already know will be knocked back.

Previously TNT would accept power banks and only recently decided to stop shipping power banks. TNT will no longer appear for power banks that cannot be shipped by that method.

      • +1

Yes I learnt that the hard way when I finally received an email today after nearly 2 weeks pretty shitty response time.

  • +3

It's so slim and sexy..and quick charge too. Dear lord how can I resist

  • +2

Damn that's a nice looking power bank.

  • It's overpriced considering the rrp.

    • +7

You can't compare the price in China to outside. Xiaomi products always cost more outside of China.

  • Damn, we're almost there, if it were 20100mAh like the RAVPower at this price and i'd be all over it.

    • can we get that from anywhere that ships to australia?

      • +1

Only one i've found is on fleabay @$83.57 which is way too expensive, it does have multiple outputs though, honestly taking the time to consider both this morning i'm pretty interested in the Xiaomi purely because of the size

        • just bought 1, see how it compares to the 20000 that i also bought the other day.

  • How much charge would you get on a laptop?

    • Is it a Macbook with support for USB Type-C?

      • +1

        Dell XPS with USB-C. :)

        • +1

I read that the XPS can't charge from the USB C port. Do you know if it can?

        • +2

@Michael15286: That's what I've been seeing on reddit and Amazon. Some people reported that the Output needs to be ~19V and this power bank only goes up to 12V.

        • @Clear:

Thanks for getting back to me. :)

    • +1

zero. the laptop pulls too much power to be charged from a power bank

  • How long to charge the Powebank from 0%-100%? I have a QC 3.0 adaptor

    • -5

0 - 100 my African American friend real quick

  • how does this figure with QuickCharge 3.0 devices? They just operate at the slightly slower QC 2 standard i guess?

bit of time before QC 3.0 powerbanks start appearing im assuming?

    • +3

QC3 will just revert back to QC2. There isn't really a speed boost with QC3 anyway.

Manufacturers just need to match the input and output to the QC3 standard to be compatible.

      • +3

I'm not lying to whoever downvoted me. I have association with Tronsmart and that's one of the few brands certified to use QC3 ;)

To elaborate further. Quick Charge 3.0 focuses on efficiency over speed.

The new standard uses an algorithm called "Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV)" which lets the device continually request a power level from the charger, from 3.6V to 20V, in 200mV increments. Quick Charge 2.0 only offered four charging voltages, but 3.0 offers 82 different voltage "sizes" which Qualcomm says results in minimized losses, increased efficiency, and improved thermal performance".

  • Won't quick charge if I charge via USB-C right? Any advantages over the standard 10 000mah Xiaomi Powerbank if I'm only using this with the USB-C port?

    • +1

Quick Charge can be used with Type-C.

  • This is probably a better deal

Nice to finally see a power bank that swings both ways, it's a brave new world!

  • What would be the expected delivery date to Sydney CBD?

    • You're looking at 3-4 weeks with free shipping.

  • So does the type-c port both charge a device as well as charge the power bank itself?

If so can you charge a device from the type C port and the standard port at the same time?

And with a type-c to micro USB cable can you just charge any old device?

    • So does the type-c port both charge a device as well as charge the power bank itself?

      Yes.

If so can you charge a device from the type C port and the standard port at the same time?

I'm 99% certain it can. I'll confirm it.

And with a type-c to micro USB cable can you just charge any old device?

      Yes. An adapter is included.

      • I've tried. It only drains via USB-C (as in it'll charge the power bank FROM your USB c device)

        • So a USB to Type C cable connected from a power adapter to the power bank will not charge?

        • @Clear:

          USB-C to USB-C
e.g. Power bank connected to Phone via USB-C to USB-C cable will drain the phone's power (at least I am currently experience that on my Nexus 6P).

        • @dsar: Interesting. Xiaomi at the time of the announcement said it was possible.

        • @Clear:

It could possibly be just my product itself/cable (tried 2 normal usb-c to usb-c and a micro-usb to usb-c adapter). Currently googling it out to see if there's an option in android to force it let it draw power.

The manual isn't in English so I can't tell if there's an option to switch from charge to power. (I tried holding the button for a bit as well as just tapping it).

        • @dsar: I don't think I even mentioned that you could use a phone to charge the device. The question above for groook refers to the Type C port being used to charge the power bank and to charge a type-c device. Not reversible.

        • +1
        • @Clear:

There's an inbuilt option in the latest nexus series to treat your phone as a powerbank

          http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/nexu…

Yeah. I'd said "there is a USB Type-C port for recharging the power bank and charging a Type-C compatible device like a Macbook" might be a bit misleading.

It possibly only impacts the latest Nexus series.

        • +1

@Clear: It's also confirmed in a review at chongdiantou

          Model: PLM01ZM
          Input Interface: Type C
          Output Interface: USB-A

The USB Type-C port is for input, i.e. charging the power bank, not for output, i.e. charging device.

        • @O O: I'm aware of that now. Xiaomi back peddled on their original statement about it being output as well.

  • Any know if the Xiaomi is worth the extra over the ROMOSS PB10S?
