please note that this is the "international 3G version".

that's about the only negative feature for this phone.

    A great price for an awesome phone. I have owned one and the build quality is really good. The camera quality is really nice.

    People considering to buy should note:
    (1) This model has no 4G/LTE, only 3G.
    (2) 16GB storage, no memory card slot. (for me it did not matter as I sync all my photos/videos to Google Photos anyway)

      I have the RedMi Note 2 and am more than happy with it. I am looking for another phone and considered the Mi4. The 16GB ROM, no SD slot and 3G is putting me off. It is no doubt a great phone with some amazing specs. But the RedMi Note 2 ticks most of the boxes for me: 5.5" FHD, 4G, 32GB. With MIUI 7 global ROM, it has been great.

    pretty interesting choices between these two AUD 20X devices:

    Mi4: pro: better build, better screen (res and screen tech wise), better camera selfie and front, more ram.
    drawback: No SD card, limits the RAM, Last gen CPU

    Remi note 2: pro: Better CPU (by technical generation standpoint, more efficient etc), bigger screen, SD card,
    drawback: less quality build, 2Gb RAM be limited when Android 7/8 with official multi-task arrive. Standard camera.

    After testing a few 5.5 in phones, I found 5.2 would be the max I accept as the ideal limit one hand operated device.

    hence if buying for those want to have a good grip on phones, 5.0 is better.

        I personally would pick xiaomi mi4, cause it has better build and camera plus more ram, since I don't listen to music on the go no need to load the whole music collection on the go. 5.5 inch devices are too easy to be dropped if operated by one hand.

        I got two 5.5 inch devices to evaluate. Ladies often use BOTH hands to operate their phones, hence even 6.0 inch models are fine with them

        maximum single hand grip for large number of people is about the size of devices maxed out at 5.25 inch in the form factor like xiaomi 5.

        CPU wise, the top of the line 801 CPU will still be better than current gen mid range which is at exactly the price it is asking for now, the CPU should also be better than current gen mid range. Not to mention the screen quality and stuff that be better. Normally a 2014 flagship be a 2015 mid to high end range, then a 2016 mid to low end.

          I'd say 650 is better than 801 in terms of CPU. 650 uses 2 A72 and 4 A53 which is comparable, likely better than, to 808. GPU I think was worse or similar. Not too sure about the performance of the GPU actually.

          Wait never mind. I think it used helios instead of Snapdragon 650 which I think wasn't as good.

          new gen tech should always be better in terms of battery life / performance ratio of the Two types of core design will certainly be better than the single core type at current design trend.

          I fully expect mid range this year would equal the performance in real life to likes of Mi-4 Z3 etc

          @jackau: Snapdragon 650 has better CPU. Snapdragon 808 CPU was 2x A57 core + 4x A53 cores, big.LITTLE core combination. A72 is a successor of A57 by ARM. Snapdragon 650 is on par if not better than Snapdragon 808 in CPU since it uses better architecture for its big cores (GPU is worse, I believe).

          yeap, but none the less, hardware is still far ahead of software much like PC before, if software / OS writers are not lazy, hardware as far back as early 2013 with 2G ram can run perfectly well, just look at windows phone in turns of performance gains between low and high end hardware.

          Hence Mi-4 being 20 months old flagship is not too bad, given xiaomi 4 LTE is a handset that can get official Windows 10 ROM.. makes it special.. (This one at the OP cant run Win10)

        I'm trying to buy this phone but at checkout, when I try to click "Place Your Order" nothing happens. No error message, nothing. I successfully placed an order a few moments ago for the case and screen protector, but I can't purchase the phone. It's not letting me. I tried it with 3 different browsers, and same thing.

        Is there a limit to how many orders you can place in a day? I've made 3 already.

    Also the 4G LTE version which one can install a Windows 10 ROM on it is selling at 233 AUD shipped, however the sting was this version ONLY HAS 2GB RAM!!!
