Must be good. Someone purchased 42.

    • +1

Yeah I noticed that, looks like the stores are snapping up all the bargains lately. Pity they don't cap it on these sales…

    • +1

A guy with 38217 feedback, I wonder what he's going to be doing with them.

    • it's capped - during the Offer Period, for up to 3 transactions and up to a maximum discount of $1000 per transaction.
so, not all the transactions are discounted.

      • Good to know. Saw a store buy up 20 Galaxy s4's @ $200 each as they got the maximum discount of $1000 (50x20). Seems a bit greedy but I guess the store selling is happy as they can move stock faster. Bit of a loss for consumers though.

      • They would be using different Paypal accounts to make the payment. Purchasing 7 at a time gives them the maximum discount per transaction.

Another buyer has just done exactly the same, with 2 lots of 7

    • I don't see 42 in purchase history? Although I could be blind this morning.

      Edit: yep can't add ^^

      • +1

Bit strange why they brought 42… even though it is the meaning of life :)

        • It's obviously another store that's brodening it.

Wirelesss1 did the same thing with the Logitech G602.

        • @CVonC: So annoying how we can't view the store's name either… Probably will see them listed after this sale at $1000 each, nice little profit right there.

        • @CVonC: Wonder how these stores that re-sell them (which I have no problem with) handle the warranty side of things? So buyer sends it back to Store 1 who then re-directs it to Store 2?

  • +1

because it's FHD not just HD and touch screen, so has glass over the screen, easy to clean.

only draw back is 13" screen and 4th gen not 5th or 6th gen I5.

But, its a 2 in one so the screen comes off an use as a tablet ………………

who ever bought 45 of them …… think ram upgrade from 4g to 8 will be tricky, as will the SSD upgrade from 128GB.

bargain if you want a 2in1 with 4gb ram and 128 ssd.

    • +4

Yep you are making some tradeoffs like not having the latest intel processors. But for this price point, I don't think you can find a brand new laptop with features such as an SSD, Full HD Touch display, Backlit Keyboard, i5 processor and reasonable battery life.

  • +2

Weight: 1.05kg (2.3 Pounds) - This is only for tablet, over 2 kg when the keyboard dock is attached.

    • Thanks, have updated description.

    • I can handle the 2kg, can you add ram to it and swap out the ssd ??????

      I'd love to get one

      • 2Kg is heavy for an ultra book. If you need to carry something you need to aim for 1.2Kg.

      • Looking at images on google cant see screws on tablet , might have to pry it open?

So maybe not easy to swap in RAM or new Ssd?

      • +1

The Dell is 1.65kg and Macbook Air is 1.3kg. Granted, this is not an ultrabook, but a tablet. However 2.00KG is quite heavy for this type of laptop.

  • Bought :) Missus needed a laptop and this seems perfect for her needs. I'm assuming this can easily be upgraded to Win10

    • Enjoy the new laptop! Win 10 is easy to upgrade from 8 too :)

  • +1

This isn't ultrabook though. This is a massive 13.3 tablet with a docking keyboard.

    • And not exactly light either.

    • +1

I bought the dell but this looks good but only if I can upgrade the RAM and ssd that sit in the tablet section….dont think you can as easily as the dell.

Weight of both seem comparble but toshi heavier with keyboard.

Dell got latest processer but it an i3 compared to this i5 but older.

Toshi would come with bloatwear and that always annoying

But for me RAM to low on toshi if cant upgrade

      • thanks :)

      • If I download Win10 from Microsoft will that get rid of the bloatware?

        • Upgrading from Windows 8.1 or whatever to Windows 10 would not remove any software that is already installed.

        • +2

If you do a clean install it should

        • In order to keep your licence you'll need to do the upgrade to win 10 through the built in upgrade tool, but then all the software would still be on it. From that point, you're free to do a clean install though if you download the iso from Microsoft.

So yes, but it's a bit more work

        • @yaziyo: Half Right, Half Wrong.
When you do the upgrade using the upgrade tool it gives you the option to upgrade and keep all files and programs, or to upgrade and keep all files only, or to upgrade and keep nothing. This third option is practically the same as a clean install.

      • It is a lower TDP i5 so it is approximately the same frequency with max turbo enabled, but this doesn't take into account the increased features of the newer chipset i.e. much faster iGPU, DDR4 ram..

    • +2

This is a tablet with a docking keyboard and the Dell laptop is a convertible ultrabook. Horsepower of both laptops are roughly same even though Dell has a newly released CPU. So choose whatever you like, though it seems Dell lasts slightly longer than Toshiba according to some reviews.

  • So tempted. Does the keyboard have a separate battery?

    • Unfortunately It doesn't. It is basically a docking keyboard with extra ports.

  • Would this be fine for remoting into work, facebook etc?

    • Almost anything would be fine for that.

    • -6

Should be more than enough. The laptop is about 2 KG in total but that is not that heavy for an average adult male to carry around. My major concern is battery life. It lasts around 5~6 hours so yo shouldn't expect it to last a whole day. This is why people end up going back to Macbook Air after shopping for a cheap alternative. Overall, Apple ticks all boxes.

      • +3

twice the price though and thats being optimistic

      • +1

If you think 2kg is ok to carry around for an average adult male, then surely buying a cheaper laptop + carrying a charger around (200-300g?) is not too much for an average meal either.

Now if the issue is finding a power point then that's a completely different issue..

      • Tablet Mode is only 1.05kg (if keyboard base left at office or at home)

        base on that review:

Toshiba’s Satellite P30W is a true hybrid. At first sight it looks like a medium-size ultrabook, but the screen detaches from the full-size keyboard base and you are left holding a large (331mm by 249mm) tablet with a 13.3-inch, 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution touch screen that weighs 1.05kg. The tablet and base together weigh a hefty 2.05kg.

  • So memory can't be upgradeable? Also Toshiba warranty is one or two years?

    • Just found out for you

RAM slot allocation Memory not expandable

Standard Warranty* 1 year limited international parts and labour warranty, including complimentary courier pick-up and return service in Australia and New Zealand

      http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/p30…

      • damn that's a big con being soldered on. at least with the dell you can change the sodimm

        • Yeah i would have got one had it not been limited to 4gb , so older processor and 4gb ram limit is deal breaker.

But if you can get past that then still great deal.

  • +1

Does anyone know if a stylus can be used on this for handwriting recognition? I don't want to spend the big bucks for MS Surfaces.
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 11 3000, and can't use a stylus on it for handwriting.

    • +1

wondering the same about stylus(active), just googled it and couldn't find anything about.

I would like to go for the surface, but this one is quite appealing at this pricepoint

    • as a past tech zealot, I do not get the handwritten stuff

if a need to take notes, I make it simple

I can type a shedload faster then write

if its long winded, I might record

      • I currently use Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 with stylus and Evernote to jot down notes. Much faster for us non-touch typists. I'd prefer a bigger screen. If the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S had a stylus, I would buy it. Not a fan of the Tab A.
Closest then I'd MS Surface, but too expensive for just keeping notes and tasks for work.

  • I just bought it, how do I go about click and collecting if I can't be bothered waiting till next week for delivery?

    • Contact the store via eBay and see if you can pick it up.

      • Thanks Shameless, I just did, waiting to hear back…
I can't thank you enough, I was about to pull the plug on the Surface 3, which is basically $300AUD more for worse specs (kinda). Anyway, was hunting for sommin around the $500-800 bracket that had full HD screen, so many seem to be only 720p, this is def a great bargain, bravo!

        • Glad I could help. I hate 720p displays on laptops, it doesn't even cost much more for the company to bump it to 1080p. I recently got an iPad Air 2 and comparing it with this laptop makes me regret my purchase haha

  • Its showing up at $699 not $559… Am I missing something??

    • +5

      coupon perhaps?

  • +1

Weight 2050g. They call that an Ultrabook? Joke! My Z930 weighs in at just over half that at 1120g.

    • +1

      Ultraheavybook

    • Eh, I don't care what they call things, stupid anyway. 2 in 1's, hybrids, laptop, notebook, ultrabook… it's all silly and confusing to the consumer. At the end of the day this particular deal is competitive with the Surface 3 (tablet only) and many laptops. They can call it what they like as far as I'm concerned, I just call this a great bargain.

  • All gone!

  • yep , just when i thought i finally found a half decent affordable laptop

    • +1

I still prefer the Dell deal over the toshiba if you're still looking for a half decent affordable laptop https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/237936

      • They sold out last night, now it says one left :S

        • They released more stock today, looks like its sold out again

    • It's back in stock now :)

      • +1

i ended up buying the last dell , thanks for the link maher1992 , although specs are similar i thought the dell was better value

        • Yeah thats fair enough, enjoy your new laptop :)

        • No worries, great to hear

  • +1
    • Pickup only :'(

    • Showing "Ended".

      Missed out twice!

  • Better than pixel C

  • Just noticed that today marks the second year since I joined Ozbargain back on the 9/03/14. It was only fitting that I uploaded a deal today :)

    • +1

Happy anniversary….you should buy a bargain gift to celebrate.

      • Thanks heaps, this site has give me more than enough bargains over the years. Forever grateful for that one day I stumbled upon this site!

I brought some new phone cases today, such a good present haha :)

  • Ahh I keep checking this eBay page to see if they are getting more stock :( Devastated I missed out on this one. :(

  • i've just used it. came with windows 8 and upgraded to windows 10. not liking it tbh, i like my macbook air more

    • How much was the macbook air tho? I opted for delivery for mine, getting it Tues/Weds.

    • -1

Can you please explain a bit more why you aren't liking it?

      • +2

Whenn the tablet is attached, it is a little wonky. Doesnt feel solid maybe because the hinge isnt designed to hold such a heavy screen.
Battery life is a little disappointing, im not getting the stated battery life, maybe because it is still new i dont know.
In tablet mode, the screen keyboard wont pop up if you are trying to type something in flash (or whatever reading eggs/mathletics uses) which wasone of the main reason for my purchase(two kids in primary school).
Updating the software/drivers with the toshiba updater seems buggy as you cant see the updating progress bar.

Windows 10 is taking time to get used to.

        • That's a shame. I remember reading the device was top heavy but this seems pretty common for most convertible devices. I would expect more from Toshiba as we have had two Toshiba laptops and they are bullet proof haha.

  • received the laptop - is it just me or is this laptop super slow??

    • -1

Mine has a screen defect, and crashed once on setup, and yes very slow even at setting up such as selecting country, english lol.

Will be returning and getting refund.

      • Can we return opened items?

        • I sure as hell can if it has a massive screen defect from the get go!

        • @dunker56: oh yeah of course.
mines actually super slow but the wifi keeps cutting out. i think it may be faulty
im still downloading the windows upgrade been over 8hrs :(

        • +1

@havok44: I've arranged to swap mine over for a new one at my nearest Bing Lee. Here's hoping this model doesn't have a faulty screen or crash during setup :S

  • Did anyone get a ready for pickup notice/email?
