        that is hilarious

did you think that up all by yourself ?

  • +16

just be careful, these get very flimsy after you remove the sim a few times and can get stuck in the sim tray

You ever tried to repair it yourself?

I broke the the contacts on my old LG phone, but took it apart myself and added in a new SIM module.

      • Yeah but you're Scrimshaw.

      • Had to get the sim reader replaced on my s6 edge recently, I bought it off gumtree and it arrived with half the sim tray stuck in the reader…

    • +4

I bought Xiaomi Mi3 phones for my wife and daughter for (on average) three hundred bucks a pop. They both use the phones as game/facebook devices and left their sim cards in their respective iPhones.

How do you think I feel?! :-O

For future reference, when a sim card/tray makes like it doesn't want to play nice, cut a piece of that clear semi-hard plastic that's used for various retail packaging to the same width as the sim tray and a few centimetres long, and GENTLY wiggle it in over the top of the card and the sim tray until it's past the sim card, then GENTLY wiggle the whole lot out. Saved my own butt a bunch of times with that approach.

  • Got one, thanks OP.

  • +1

    Upvoted for the code lol.

  • got one, lets see if it arrives.
will be handy if say the new phone goes faulty I can then move the sim to the old phone nice and easy (I hope)

    • +1

Be really careful removing from phone.

      • thanks, thats if it is ever used.
How can the damage pins when it is just a pad with contact points?
any photos to show what the problem part is?

        • The risk is of damaging pins inside the phone, not on the sim card.

The slot/socket is designed to receive a pad with contact points as you describe, but when you put adapters, etc, in there, there's various bumps and ridges and sometimes they catch on the pins inside the phone that contact the sim card.

If, when they catch, you're at all forceful about removing them, you'll damage the phone internally by bending the pins inside the phone.

It's not a problem with the product, it's an inherent risk of putting adapters inside a sim slot designed for close tolerances.

If you need to remove a sim and it feels like it might be sticking, use the thin-piece-of-plastic technique that I've described in another comment on this deal.

Anyone confirmed when they made purchase, did your bank charged you for international transaction ? If yes how much was it?

I would say our Oz store are better to buy it from, it will cost only $1 shipped.

  • Thanks so much for posting this! I really needed this!

  • Wouldn't you just contact your network provider?

I got a replacement phone and just went to the local shopping centre and asked my telco for a new SIM.

they gave me a replacement one free of charge with a micro->nano punch out that works on both.

    • +2

How much did it cost you to go to the shops?

    • Yes, the provider will do it for free. I got it for when or if my phone is faulty or I just need my sim in a different phone for a day. Not for a perm change just temp.

    • People who use companies like Vaya have to pay a whopping $20 to change sims.

  • thank you OP

  • +1

    Do i need it?No.
    Did i buy it?Yes.

"We appreciate your shopping! Your order has been submitted successfully, please remember your order number: EE################"

Pretty sure I will not remember that order number, thankfully I have confirmed I have the order number in an email I received, might I suggest this message be changed to "

We appreciate your shopping! Your order has been submitted successfully, please retain the email we have sent you for your order number: EE################"

    • +8

      2 Es and about 16 #s - not that hard to remember…

  • +9

Warning. Do not put an empty sim converter into your phone. You won't be able to get it out of your phone without pulling out the contacts. I know first hand. And it was a brand new phone.

    • +5

Why would you put an empty one in the phone.

      • +2

People get bored sometimes you know.

        • +2

Bought an unlocked S3 from Kogan which uses mini SIM. TPG wanted $20 for mini SIM so I cut the full SIM down. Put it in phone and kept getting sim locked error messages. Kogan swearing black and blue the phone was unlocked and wanted photos and receipts etc etc. I thought maybe I didn't cut it down properly and the only mini SIM I had was an adapter. Drum roll, so I put that in to see how that fit compared to cut down one. Found out later the phone was locked and Kogan gave me the unlock code. Luckily I pushed the contacts back into the SIM reader and the phone worked.

    • +3

If it gets stuck, you can try and get it out by cutting a small thin piece of plastic from e.g. a product package the width of the sim, inserting it in between the stuck sim adaptor and the pins, then pulling the whole thing out, hopefully dragging the sim adaptor along with it. You can use a needle or something similar to help lever it out.

If your phone uses a sim tray, you might be in trouble! It may or may not be possible depending on how much clearance there is.

  • You'd be better off buying the real deal if you need this. More expensive but from experience they are made really well.

  • Nice OP.
Judt Be careful i have had this get stuck in my iphone 4s tray then had to take the damn thing apart to get it out.

  • SHUSH-jv
    Amen to Dat!

  • Or just go to your phone shop and get one for free?

  • I purchased this kit a while back and I have to say that they are well crafted and I have been swapping out my sim between a zte fit and e72 and they haven't faulted.

  • +1

Honestly, i bought different types of adapter from ebay, noosy is the best one, i know it may damage your simcard chip/holder if the simcard thicker than the adapter, but there is a way to remove it without damaging it. Plenty videos on utube, or u may PM me and ill show u how to do it…

I still have 5 of them, paid 50 cents each on ebay long time ago

Thanks OP. Still worth upvote !

  • +1

Keep in mind what you are giving them, and what they are giving you.

You give them all your personal details, mailing address etc, which could be worth quite a bit more than 2 cents for them to on sell.

  • +3

I got a SIM card adapter set last year that looks identical to this.
It got my SIM tray jammed in my phone and didn't even register that there's a SIM card in it.

IMO the best adapters are the ones that come from telcos when you sign up.
They give you that credit card sized piece of plastic that you press the right sized SIM out of. Keep the rest the pieces you can press out as SIM adapters.

  • Wish I had seen these comments before I broke my sim tray a few days ago…

  • ALDI nano sims make good adaptors. They are like babushka dolls of the sim world. Nano Sim inside micro adaptor inside standard inside full size. Even without a backing its a good fit, but for bonus points I sanded a tiny bit off the back and glued on a very thin plastic panel.

  • Jv is cool. There, I said it.

  • got mine today thanks OP

    • you are Welcome :-)

  • I got mine yesterday, thanks for the quick delivery.
