  • H790 or H791?

    • H791 is the Au version I got one the other day from expansys has the correct power plug no adaptor needed:)

  • Price aside, upgrading from an iphone 4s - what's a better option this or the LG4?

    • Exactly my dilemma! This or the LG4…..?

      • +2

Stock Android wins it for me.

Dont know if this helps you but I got one for my wife and had to set it up for her yesterday as she has moved from apple. The camera I have to say is pretty good, its light, and being only 5.2 inches helps a lot in a smaller hand:). Seemed very snappy and overall she loved the look and feel of it but maybe thats because it was nice and new:) I have a oneplusone and I feel this camera is way better than mine. Good luck with your choice though.

        • Thanks!

  • Nice, got one :)

No telling if this is H790 or H791. BUYER BEWARE!!!

    • What's the diff between?

      • +2

Long story short, H791 is AU version you want with all the latest 4G bands.

        • Wish I saw your comment before I bought! I might reach out to Kogan to see which model it is.

EDIT: Most likely international version: "This device is network unlocked, international model and may differ slightly from local models. Kogan.com has no affiliation with the manufacturer."

        • This was a sill comment. I have no idea how to delete it!

Thanks for the neg, loser, whoever you are.

    • It's grey import as per item description on ebay so must be non-au.

      • Does that mean not supporting all AU bands? Not sure to get this or LG4

        • Supported frequencies as per website:

          2G Network (MHz)850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
          3G Network (MHz)850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
          4G Network (MHz)1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 26(850), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)

From feedback i heard, nexus is better than other andriod from performance point of view.

          Frequency comparison H790 Vs H791:

        • @b4rgainhunter: Hmm I'm with Virgin:
          2G (900 MHz)
          3G Single Band (2100 MHz)
          3G Dual Band (900 MHz & 2100 MHz )
          4G (1800 MHz)
          4G Plus (2300 MHz)

Looks like the H790 supports 4G but not 4G plus. Is that right? What would this mean?

          Sorry I'm a nube!

        • @sweepy: I am not sure to be honest but to me it looks faster 4G. Check this page:

        • @b4rgainhunter: Thanks!

        • G4 has band 28 if that is important, plus massive expansion possibility.

        • @sweepy:

          2300MHz is supported.

  • +5

I took a few test pictures with a Nexus 5X (from the JB deal), I am liking the camera on these.

  • So this phome doesn't have 4G Band 28 ?

    • +1

no. only the H791 AU model does

      • Thought the H791 was the Internatiomal (which has The Australian bands) :/

        • ok - I thought the H791 was AU.
It sounds like the Kogan one is a different model - they dont show it having band 28 LTE 700MHz

        • @pete2:

Thanks for the reply it is confusing not made any easier by Kogan not specifying!

think Telstra use the band for 4GX etc

  • Hmmm….if this isn't the H791 version, I will be shipping it back and ask for a refund. I thought that there are only two versions of this phone. The H790 (US version) and the H791 (International version). They claim it's the international version so it should be H791? Either way, this lack of clarity is enough for me to claim a refund if it's not the H791.

    • @cya

      Just got this from Kogan:

Your order has now been placed on hold.

Please let me know if you would like to be issued with a store credit voucher for the value of your purchase, this can be used towards a future order from the Kogan website.

We can confirm that this item operates on the following networks:
      2G Network (MHz) 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
      3G Network (MHz) 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
      4G Network (MHz) 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 26(850), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)

Kogan works hard to bring you products from all over the world at the best possible prices. Our products are international models, and we guarantee that all products come with Australian adapters, work perfectly in Australia and the models are equivalent to those sold in Australian retail stores.

All products sold by Kogan also come with a 12 month Australian warranty, which can be extended to 3 or 5 years.

I don't really want store credit.. I want a refund - think we're entitled to this?

You would think that when you're buying a phone from Kogan it would work on Australian networks..

      • +1

I don't think Kogan can do this. Escalate the case with eBay and PayPal if they don't issue with a refund since this is against the policy. Also note that if it's not the H791 model and does not support all the Telstra 4G LTE then this sentence of theirs is false: "we guarantee that all products come with Australian adapters, work perfectly in Australia and the models are equivalent to those sold in Australian retail stores."

I'm guessing this is the HK model ? H798 ?

Would it be ok on Telstra ?

    From Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_5X
    Hong Kong model (LG-H798):
    UMTS/WCDMA bands: 1/2/5/8
    LTE (FDD) bands: 1/3/7/8/26
    LTE (TDD) bands: 38/40/41

  • it may be the h798

  • Might bite the bullet. considering its only a particular band of 4G? Im with Virgin, and have access to the other 3. I understand band 28(700) is the new guy in town and will be pushed heavily, however I dont even turn on my 4G now on my Z1. to save battery.

  • Kogan sent a USB charger with the phone that is not compatible with USBC.

  • Anyone have battery issues. My sons is just burning through power withouT doing much.
