Hi all,

First time I've negotiated my very own deal on OzBargain!

After the awesome deal posted by monty https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/236849 I thought I'd try and organise something for the community.

Becky, the Everbuying rep has come up with a great offer. There are 8 in the Dargo range to choose from. There is plenty of stock for each model.

Pieces include R2D2, Kylo Ren and Storm Trooper.

AU $7.44 for the whole set.

I'm all for LEGO but I'd prefer not to support knockoffs that may be used to scam the uninformed through Ebay, Gumtree etc.

    • -1

i would agree, but this doesnt say 'LEGO' anywhere? It states 'building blocks' not lego

      • +5

It doesn't say 'Lego,' but it does say 'Star Wars' which is a protected IP which is licensed, exclusively, by Lego.

        • +1

Haha interesting. The title of the toy has 'star wars' but the picture has 'space wars'.
          i love it

    • -1

The OP in no way referred to this as Lego, so I don't see your preference as relevant to the deal.

    • +7

Normally I wouldn't bite, but the 133+ users who liked monty's Minion deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/236849 clearly didn't see an issue with it not being official Dreamworks merchandise? Geez some people on here are sensitive folk.

      • +1

However at least one person did point out that it was counterfeit.

Having said that the mods do not have an issue with this product.

    • +5

No one actually got the point - it's the fact that the legit LEGO Kylo Ren minifigure costs ~$20 AUD on bricklink and the fact that clearly, this can be abused by scammers.

      • No, it can't…for starters the Minions model pieces are only about 10% of the size of actual LEGO bricks, so I presume these are equally minuscule! ;)

[edit] Ignore what I just said, I just checked out the unboxing video, it looks like these ones are normal LEGO-ish sized bricks, nice! :)

Not sure why you're getting negged for this comment. This is a case of some pretty blatant passing off. Are we allowed to post $5 Rolex deals too?

If I was an owner of Ozbargain, I wouldn't want to be linked to this dodgy crap.

  • -4

Clearly counterfeit product as box clearly has the label 'Space Wars'. I doubt that would be sufficient to avoid the copyright lawyers when you include BB8.

  • +5

Why didn't anyone made a hissy fit on copyright with the minions building blocks deal?

    • +5

Neg-warriors are coming out the last few days :/

      • -3

Totallly agreed - as Ive said before, if you have any conviction when negging please reveal yourself amd state your case - otherwise it means nothing

        • +2

I just negged you for lolzzz! :)

        • +1

          otherwise it means nothing

Apparently it does mean something, as it seems to be getting under your skin. Negged you for neg-whinging.

        • +1

@johnno07: no, theres a clear distinction between complaining about being negged, an challenging all neggers to show some conviction in their actions.

simple really - anyway props to you for your transparency, upvoted accordingly

Because, to my knowledge there is no thriving after-market for single block, minion brick toys. Compare that with the bricklink page of the Kylo Ren minifigure and you'll see why things like this hurts buyers and sellers of legit LEGO.

I don't care so much for the copyright issues (I don't think it affects me) but as a buyer and seller on bricklink, it hurts the 'trade' overall when you have to deal with fakes.

      • Kylo Ren minifigure and you'll see why things like this hurts buyers and sellers of legit LEGO

paying $20+ for a lego person sounds crazy to me

        • +2

I understand why from an outsiders' perspective it sounds crazy, but with LEGO you're guaranteed quality in their bricks.

        • @jikijiki:

its about 1c of plastic in an injection mould
I'm sure there is 'quality' but its a apart from the head its the same body parts as any normal lego 'guy' with some different decals right
          CRAZY :)

        • @SBOB:
Don't think of LEGO as a plastic toy. Think of it more as a commodity .
These crappy fakes don't fool savvy buyers and investors , but they do trick new people to the market.

    • I've never had a problem with Everbuying - that's why I contacted them in the first place; I trust them.

They have been reliable and most OzBargain users have had good experiences with delivery. My recent Minions arrived before the ETA!

Just keep a note of when to expect your package (I have a note on my computer with ETA details) and contact them directly If something happens with your order.
