  • Have to resist the urge until the Christmas sales. You need to be patient to get the best bargain.

    • +2

Unlucky for me, I want it for UC4. Pressure is caving to have it by launch date.

    • 8 months of patience is a long time

      • +7

        Not for a young grasshopper.

        • +3

1 day to a young grass hopper is like 10 years, I remember wanted a computer game and a month was like 50 years

    • Honestly, Christmas is a while away and this is a decent price.

Saying that I bought one years ago for $400.
But for maybe $30 or dollars saving your not playing games for a long time! Which is OK i guess if you have other gaming platforms.

    • told myself the same thing last year. Will I tell myself again this year?…

    • +1

I'm waiting for ps5 to come out so I can get this for $200

    • It's April

  • +4

Isn't PS4.5 coming out before this Christmas? If so you are right the PS4 price will fall.

    • +2

Apparently yes there is a PS4 with 4K support coming out later this year.

      • +4

which no games will ever support -_-

        • +2

          Or my TV 😊

        • @tomsco: haha that too :P

        • +1

          Or my eyesight 😂

        • +1

People will still buy it, "Because it's a new thing with a higher number than the last thing". Unfortunately.
It will probably lower the regular PS4 prices, but, not by much I'd say.

  • +10

But if you just wait 2 Christmases you can pre order your PS5 Uncharted 7 VR bundle with bonus cortex stimulater or just wait for the slim sexy model…?

    • +1

I'm waiting for a slim sexy model comes to me for a life

  • +1

Wait for PS4.5. I got mine from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227971 for $330.

    • Oh man. Where was I during this?

  • +15

You'll always be waiting if you take the 'I'll wait until it's cheaper' approach because when it does get cheaper you'll think it'll get cheaper again and you'll never end up buying one. I paid $519 for the white Destiny bundle almost 18 months ago. Yeah it's cheaper now and I could have waited that 18 months to get it for $100 cheaper including an extra controller but i've had fun and enjoyed what the PS4 has offered for the last 18 months and have not once thought I paid too much.

Yes, it'll most likely be cheaper by Christmas but that's 8 months away and so much game time missed between now and then!

    • -2

Considering it's been cheaper than this before, I could never justify paying more, for what is now older technology.

There's also a rumored new hardware revision on the horizon.

As for the extra gaming time, 2015 and 2016 releases have been really shitty (unless you like RPGs I guess), so not missing much.

tl;dr: People can have whatever opinion they want, and spent their money whenever they want.

      • +1

You had to do a tl;dr for 3 lines? Are people that lazy? haha

I also doubt Sony will change things up to much with a hardware revision, they might just add 4K support for movies, definitely not games though.

    • +5

I also agree with this approach and add if you don't have a back catalog of games to catch up on and you drive or go out often on weekends you will often save far more money than the extra $100 Slave1 paid, because a tank of fuel or a taxi and some drinks at a bar, just in one night will cost you more money than you save waiting 18 months.

So imagine how much more you end up spending when you decide to go out for the night instead of a gaming sesh at home in an 18 month period because I bet the person who paid more for the console and some games saves a higher percentage of income.

Just my 2cents not to be taken as a literal way everyone should behave.

  • +2

I've been waiting for a good price for the PS4. I never get the current model, always the one before because it's cheaper. But this is a good deal for PS4, plus two controllers!! Not one and a game you probably don't even want.

    • I forgot to add, or a Blu Ray you already have (Jurrasic World - Big w bundle)

      • Or a subscription that you already own (Stan)

  • -1

Not too bad. I got my PS4 about a year ago for $400, so the extra controller here is $29. But you can definitely find it cheaper (i.e. the $330 deal that expired at the start of the year).

I would hold off on this one and wait another few months for a lower price.

  • The rumors about a 4.5K console are all speculation ATM, Sony have no confirmed exactly what it is yet.

    • +1

      If you can't afford this

Why bother waiting for a 4K version, you will never buy one anyway because you will end up waiting for whatever k comes next

      • +1

I think the idea is there will be a price drop in these consoles when the new 4.5 comes out.

        • +1

Did you buy a PS3 when the ps4 came out?

        • +1

@Aceboy884: actually yes I did, then I had it modded and it has sat in the box since and the lesson I learnt from that, is if you wait too long, the tech moves to next-gen, nothing exciting is happening on last gen so the spare time you do have you focus on the newer stuff and never get around to the older stuff.

But that's besides the point, I'm saying people who haven't purchased and are part of the ozB community (therefore after a bargain) are smart enough to realize that if a never revision of the console is coming out there is likely to be a clearance of old stock or at least a reduction in price, so if they have to wait another 2 months for argument sake then it may be worth it.

      • Plus

        I have a 1080p TV

I guess the theoretical increase in processing power could result in better game optimisation. But I doubt they'd fragment the device 4 years into launch

    • No I think they have , though I'm wondering how it's gonna work as even $2000+. Gaming computers struggle to output 4K decently.

      • I heard the PS4.5 co-operates with the VR's computery box thing to enhance the display to work with 4K… But maybe that's just when using their goggle things. As you can tell by my overabundance saying technical jargon like "the computery box thing", you can tell I am well informed.

Is this the one with the bad on/off buttons?

  • When does this deal end?

    • 23/4

  • +1

When does this start? brother went just before and they don't have it. he called up another store and again no luck

  • Not available online, neither at Bondi Junction store.

  • I'll wait for broadband or 4GX plans that can support 4K streaming, before getting a 4K PS4/TV.

Also, usually the first year of games are not great, as the developers are learning to optimise their games for the new system. So not many games yet that make the most of the hardware.

  • Has anyone manage to buy one of these?
are they all out of stock?
Tried going to 3 target all sold out :(

    • i got mine online when this was first posted. sold out pretty quickly i think.

    • Yeah! Just bought one tonight.
The guy was pretty cool with me and let me buy a white PS4 and a black controller. (Mix the colours).
This was because he had none of the white controllers left :(
