    Good price, get it.

Can get it cheaper with gift cards via cashrewards or via entertainment book. 7.5% off giftcards currently via entertainment book

  • Would Myer price beat?
Never tried before and have a heap of gift cards to use.

    • Depends on how much the difference between the prices (IMO) if Myer will price match. If it's $10, yes.. If it's $100, no

    • They will match if it isn't under their purchase price.

  • Anyone know if it's possible to use a file explorer on ios? Pretty useless to have 128 gig if you can't even transfer files without iTunes tbh

    • Theres no file explorer on ios unfortunately.

    • Steve Jobs was a genius.

    • Umm can't you do it over wifi with certain apps like VLC?

If you've got a NAS box there's probably an app that allows you to download files. We do it with a Synology box (either the synology apps or PlayOn - used to record & watch Netflix offline :-) (Thanks to PainToad for putting me onto this one)

Depends what you need. There is no file explorer but there are plenty of apps that allow you to get files onto the iPad without going through iTunes (not that going through iTunes is that big of a deal anyway).

      • What file formats does itunes restrict you to though? I never even figured out how to get MKV onto there via itunes without converting it and losing my subtitle tracks and dual audio.

        • +1

I use mkv for video and copy files into Infuse to play them usually. This can be done throu iTunes or over wifi from my NAS. No need for any conversion or loss of data. There are other video player apps that do simlilar things like vlc or AV player.

@cnrmlj: This ^^. Cannot rave about Infuse enough. Great program and makes transferring all types of video files so easy

There are file explorers. I haven't found anything as good as ES File Explorer (on Android), though.

Honestly, getting files to and from an iDevice is a nightmare. iTunes is a piece of shit, very limited in what it'll allow you to do, when it comes to transferring files.
I found a decent program called AnyTrans, which is able to get files to and from an iDevice without needing iTunes. Of course, if you want the useful version of AnyTrans (ie. you want to transfer more than 50 files a day), you have to pay… $40USD.
$40USD to do something which is free and easy on a droid. $40 if you want to obtain it legitimately, that is, but we want discuss the alternative method…

There's also free apps like USBSharp, which will allow you to view files on an iDevice, via a web browser. This app is far from a perfect solution, however. For example, a file must be opened in USBSharp, else USBSharp will not recognise it is on the device.

There are ways to transfer files to and from an iDevice, without iTunes, but it's unnecessarily complicated.

You must have pretty soft nightmares. I have zero issue getting any of the files i need to get across to my iPad / iPhone. Takes seconds to set up the transfer.

      • I am a windows/microsoft person (using windows phone as main, iphone as spare) and if you are using windows OS, then connect your iPad/iPhone and whatever you want to transfer (videos, music, documents) - drap and drop in folder

music —> Add to itunes library

And files will come up on your itunes. Either you have the option to sync everything in selected folders or sync selected files.

IOS app, its control and data files are in a sandbox. A (system-wide) file explorer doesn't make sense in such context - it cannot be implemented in an 3rd-party app, and hence doesn't exist.

      • Just get up with it and jailbreak the beast. The world is then your oyster with a jailbroken I device

        • Can't jailbreak latest iOS

    • I have no idea if this will work but perhaps try SHAREit. I just downloaded it on android and it looks promising, and there appears to be a version for iDevices. Could work?

  • Last time I checked (late Feb), Costco was selling these for $899 (Gold colour, but not sure if that makes any difference?). Anyway, not a bad price from Big W, especially when combined with other gift card deals as Arsi mentioned above.

Had 2, terrible vibrating speakers, light bleed, screen distortion, worst iPad yet hardware wise.

    • Got yours from AliExpress? :)

    • +1

Air 2 has decent speakers, don't know what you expect from a tablet.

      • -1

        known problem vibrating sound.

  • It's end of life since the pro had been released so that's why it's cheap

    • They are different lines.

Having said that, I wouldn't pay full price for 2 year old tech.

      • Yeah but the 128gb model is now end of line. Hence clearance

      • I wouldn't say it's that bad. Most Android tablets use older generation SoC and Apple does make SoC for tablets. A8X was a good SoC and other than that and few bits and pieces, I think it holds up reasonably compared to 9.7 inch Pro in my opinion (especially since Pro 9.7 doesn't have 4GB RAM and possibly slightly underclocked version of A9x).

Thanks for the detailed information mate

  • What was the original price when first launched?

    • I bought it for just under 1000$

    • $859 in 2014 according to http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/10/apple-ipad-air-2-ipad-mini…

Not sure if it was increased in 2015 due to the weak AUD (IIRC All Macs and iPhone had a price hike except iPads)

      • $859 in 2014

Two years on, a saving of $70. Nice.

  • I can't select what model I want. Other pages let you choose what colour etc you want, but there's nothing on the Air 2 page. What's up with that?

    • SAME. I want to buy it but cannot select anything or add to cart ?

  • FYI - 64GB was <$600 in recent Kogan sale.

  • Bought mine.

The link to buy is only available after hour. Otherwise, it said not available.
So hope that they will process our order !
