  • Better do a manual link. Last time they had a glitch on the fashion offer. Still waiting to get my $20 back

    • +3

Email them, I did with a photo of my transaction and got my $20 back that way

      • +1

yeah i used their secured message centre. Their customer service team was quite helpful. Eventually I got $20 refund from Glue Store. They managed doing it via the merchant due to system glitch.

  • +7

Lol good luck finding a bargain with them

    • +1

On ticket prices perhaps, but you can price match with other B&M stores.

      • +3

        For online purchases?

        • +1

Sorry, didn't realise this was online only. I believe you can price match online store by calling, but then it doesn't get charged through the same portal, so no AMEX cashback.

I suppose you could buy gift card online, then price match instore if it's worth the bother.

        • +4

@Jad: I have got a price match with DJ online. I sent a message to one of their contacts listed on the website and they called me to amend the price.

    • +2

Sometimes appliances are competitively priced and free delivery.

    • I enrolled three times in the past, not finding anything worth buying, even with the discount.

      • +2

I've found their additional discount on clearance items, extremely good value.

  • Here's a tip. If you got a friend's wedding coming up, buy them a gift card as a present.

    • -1

The following transactions are not eligible and will not count towards your spend for the purposes of the offer:

      • transactions where you do not spend directly with the merchant (for example, if you buy the merchant’s goods through a third party department store);
      • transactions processed through a third party payment processor (for example, PayPal);
      • transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded;
      • transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher.

      • +1

        You must be new
Oh, I think the gifted expires in 2 years

        • +1

I can confirm they have this nice hidden policy that they will happily exchange your expired gift card with a new one, if you go to talk to them. So these cards are effectively without expiry like Apple Store giftcard. Only catch here is that they have the right to stop exchanging at any time, which I personally don't think will happen.

        • @fan8956: yes, I have done this before with them

      • +2

As Mr unreliable said you must be new. Their system cannot pick your purchase is gift card or what, just buy whatever you want and wait for the credit

        • Ok that's good to know. Thanks.

        • +2

@omygodde: only credit on physical gift cards not egiftcard

        • @grasstown: So they are able to pick whether it's egiftcard or physical card??

        • +1

          @louuisc: yes different carts

  • Double dip with 6% cash rewards.

    • +2

Rewards will not be paid when you purchase a Gift Card/s. Rewards will not be paid at all on any purchase when a Gift Card/s is used as full or part payment of a purchase.

From personal experience, I probably had 1 that got approved, but all the rest of the transactions got cancelled

      • I pay for stuff with egift cards at Dan Murphys and get the CashReward rebate, or do you specifically mean when paying for stuff at DJs?

    • +1

I've had two DJs transactions with giftcards that didn't get approved. Can't argue with them, of course. Invoice shows what was purchased.

But, normal DJs purchases of course do get the cash back.

    • +2

Had all of Qantas points approved (10 points per $1 spend during the double points promotion), effectively additional 10% off. So if you are also collecting frequent flyer points maybe go down that route for higher chance of approval (even though t&c did say gift cards not eligible for earning QFF points)

      • 10% off? Only if you value QFF points at 1c ea

        • Yep, that's right, I think that's the rough average. Even if you value it at 0.5c (5% off), that's still not bad since all gift card purchases were approved for QFF.

      • What double points promotion?

        • The promotion that was running leading up to the Xmas last year, 10 points per $1 spend instead of 5 points.

    • Both of mine got cancelled from the same deal last time so I don't recommend people count on this.

      • Don't see why this won't work. Might not work on gift cards but should work on everything else.

  • What is the cheapest item to add to enable free shipping?

    • +1

      Found these for $2.50-

Maxwell & Williams Grabbers Mini Tongs 18cm Silicone Black

      • Found 1 better-

        Maxwell & Williams
White Basics Round Sauce Dish -$1.00

    • I bought a tea bag squeezer last time for ~$2.20. That activated free shipping with my $200 gift card that I bought at the time!

  • +1

Must be targeted offer. Used to be able to register for these manually when they were not visible on the account. Now takes you to the "Offers Available for card xxx" page. For me, this offer is not available.

EDIT: Ignore that, does work with manual register.

  • Just confirming that this offer will work with cash rewards link?

    • +1

Cash rewards? Dont bother. They will reject it.

      • not necessarily..
i had 2 transactions for last promotion, $200 gift card + $2.50 item
        1 was approved, 1 rejected

      • You talking from past experience? How will they know I'm getting this cashback through AMX?

  • can you use DJ gift card in other stores like Dan Murphy's one? (from their FAQ, seems DJ exclusive)

    • +3

      No

      Source: Current DJs employee

      • thanks mate

  • I have found the DJs site really frustrating. I tried to use this deal last time (spend $75, get $20 back) and they didn't have any of the clothing items online that I liked in store. None of them

    • that does happen, yes. Hence you get hit with delivery, or you can spend $100 instead to get free delivery.

      • No i mean that I literally couldn't get the items (which were available in store) on their website. So I cannot buy them at all online.

For e.g I wanted to get a different size pair of pants, but they didn't even have the pants full stop on the DJs site. Not "sold out". Just not there

        • +3

Buy gift cards online and go buy what you want in store

        • @jamestownfx: Crap i didn't realise that was even an option. In hindsight its so incredibly obvious

  • -4

Nice one. Felt a bit dodgy giving credit card details from a link of Ozbargain but looks legit… Good way to get be to drop 200 !

    • +3

      you must be new here.

  • do they sell iphone? i cant find it online

    • +1

Not since Dick Smith exited DJs at the end of January

  • the black tongs seem to be sold out, any other cheap item qualify for free shipping?

    • Maxwell & Williams
Grabbers Mini Tongs 18cm Stainless Steel - $1.95

      Could of saved myself 50c.

      • Found something cheaper-

        Maxwell & Williams
White Basics Round Sauce Dish - $1.00

      • +1

Did you check if they of stock?

        • At that time I posted they were in stock. Got to be quick.

  • Just logged into AMEX connect and see this if also available for people with bank issued amex cards. Sorry if someone has already mentioned this. :)

  • DJ no longer sells Apple stuff? I can see anything on their website

Just spoke to DJ and they stated they no longer sell Apple Products

Damn I wanted to save $40 too

    • DJs don't sell any more Apple products because Dick Smith left at the end of January

      • Oh so they we linked to DS

        • Yeah. So they don't sell anything you can find in Dick Smith. No mobile phones, Apple, TVs etc.

Don't know if they plan to in the future, either

        • @kerfuffle: They'll be selling Kogan soon :)

        • @kerfuffle: i heard theyre buying back stuff from DS at half the price of their worth. THis is after selling their business to dicksmith at an inflated price to begin with,

          laughin!

  • Purchasing a gift card to get $40 off then using that to purchase goods I'll then be getting Duty back on from TRS…

    EffortMaximus

    • You better make sure that your final invoice has GST in it. It just might be that you pay GST on the gift card, such that the receipt for the item you purchase does not have GST (they can't charge you twice). Also, you have to buy >$300 on one receipt to quality for TRS. That reduces your $40 cashback to 13.3%.

      • Can be multiple receipts.

You can buy several items from one retailer (that is, one Australian Business Number holder, which means there could be several outlets) over a number of occasions in the 60-day period, as long as the total purchase adds up to $300 GST inclusive or more. You may buy goods from several stores, and claim the GST for each of those, as long as each store's tax invoice totals at least $300 (GST inclusive).

      • GST is not charged on purchase of any gift card. It is charged when you subsequently use the gift card to make a purchase.

        • Looked it up, and you're right.
Weird…. so if you don't use a gift card, they get to keep the full amount as profit, and don't have to declare GST on it?

        • +1

          @Make it so:
Yeah true - wasn't enough to save Dick Smith though :-)

        • @Make it so: Yea I suppose? It'll be a liability to them though so to an extent it's not like businesses are huge fans of people buying gift cards.

        • @illumination: Pretty sure Dick Smith was fairly happy to sell them.

  • Pricepal cashbacks have not been paying me since October. They owe me $100. They might be insolvent.

    • +2

Can confirm that I got cashbacks (not from DJ as I have never used Pricepal for it) as recent as 3 weeks ago, so looks ok to me.

  • Thank you! Love my Amex!

  • There is a deal going at Woolworths where you buy a $50 David Jones card and get 10 Woolworths dollars. Works out to the same discount and you can spend it instore whenever you want. Would be good if you only want to spend $50 at David Jones. Downside is that I'd say its only one per rewards card so you'd need a couple of rewards cards to get more than $50 worth.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/242884

    • Definitely more versatile in that it's only $50 as opposed to $200 that you'd have to initially part with (and still an "effective" 20% off), but you can also buy gift cards with this deal as some others have mentioned near the top of this deal (comments).

  • deleted

  • The $40 credit just posted into my account. Also have a 1000 Qantas points coming from purchasing through the Qantas Mall. Another great Amex promotion.

    • You either didn't buy gift cards or didn't get $25 bonus gift card then??? No $25 bonus gift card on gift card purchases.

      • the latter :)

  • -1

Can you use to buy gift cards online?

  • Dyson DC45 $260, thanks!

  • +1

wish they sell mobile phones. my iphone 5s is dying.

    • +2

We only sold iPhones online and we no longer do because of Dick Smith.

Source: Current DJs employee who wishes they still sold phones as well; my HTC One (M8) was from DJs

  • +2

FYI. Just wanted to confirm I got my $40 back after purchasing a $200 gift card and a small $2.95 Maxwell and Williams bowl.

    • Good thinking - buy a gift card and something small. I will be doing that!

  • Been a while since I made use of Amex offers. Would it still work if I use PayPal to pay? With my PayPal account linked to my Amex card.

    • +1

No, this will not work. AMEX will see the biller as Paypal rather than David Jones, so no credit.

      • Ok thanks
