      It's generally good quality dashcam with this price but the problem is the form factor. Looks very obvious a big camera from outside. They should follow a118 form factor like Street Guardian.

      Don't worry about the chinese menu.

      I'm had the dashcam version for a few weeks now and it's going fine. I don't read chinese but found translations online of the menu.

      I use it as a dashcam, not an actioncam so I've set it up once and pretty much haven't touched it since. I know it's working because it makes a chime when it turns on and off. It automatically writes over old footage so I don't need to keep wiping it. I'll only need to touch it if I want to get footage off it and then I'll just eject the microsd and put it my laptop so don't need to navigate the chinese menu.

      BTW, I painted mine black with plastidip. Makes it stand out less. The camera came with protective covers over the LCD display and lens so I kept them on so I could spray paint it. Worked out perfectly.

      I also cut out a disc of black label paper to stick over the part that surrounds the lens. That part is especially shiny and stood out a lot. I don't know why the lens housing needed to be so large (or shiny), the actual lens is tiny.

      The dashcamtalk website's negative point was it's wobbly suction mount. I 3D printed a gopro mount for my camera and I stuck the other gopro mount to the windscreen using the flat sticky mount. No wobbly and very low profile.

    I have seen this blog advising that the Chinese version of the Xiaomi Yi camera no longer works.

      I have two Xiaomi Yi camera and both of them are chinese model one bought from Banggood and one from Mushtato. Im using one of them as a dashcam in my car and its working %100 with my iphone. I even was able to install a 200gb SD card regardless of the official claim of 64gb max. Great dashcam with decent quality. I have faced two issue with it so far when i used it as a dashcam:
      1- Battery died most likely either from the heat or from continues use(Never been bothered about the battery as its always connected to the car charger!)
      2- I really hate that i have to turn on the camera every time i get in the car, you will also have to press the record button! Which i tend to forget at 1-3 times a week(Most likely because you have to wait at least 5-10 second before you are able to record).
      Otherwise great camera!

        Great to hear it hasn't been an issue for the dashcam but I meant more specifically for the action camera. The links I provided do not mention the dashcam version so maybe it is only specific for the action cam. Does anyone know if the can be used with an english app and it works?

          Im talking about Xiaomi Yi which is the action camera, its an action camera but im using it as a dashcam because the new Xiaomi dashcam was not released early last year. There is an application on Apple store called "Yi Action" which is used to pair with the Xiaomi Yi action camera; you can download it and try it yourself.
          The issue with the Xiaomi dashcam i believe is it comes with Chinese only app and even the device language is Chinese only.

          It's only an issue if you're the sort of person who can't figure things out. I've had one since launch and can use all features. The app is part english and so is the camera.

          @Maverick-au: I have the dashcam and it is all now in English. The android app is in English as is all the controls on the dashcam unit. It was updated about a month ago with English versions…

          And yeah, if not, there are heaps of tutorials on forums and YouTube to help people set it up with the Chinese menus.

    Looks like the dash cam will live stream to your phone, so useful for streaming or as a reversing cam with a little delay.

      You won't notice the picture delay but the app does take a few seconds to start recording (only way to view the dashcam image).

Latest app version is in English. Both features of ADAS warning system does NOT work at all - I bought it for these features :( Picture quality is good. NOTE: Must use Class 10 MicroSD card which is 80MB/sec or faster, otherwise will NOT allow recording.

    Just an update for anyone interested.
    My Xiaomi Yi action camera arrived today.

    Some interesting finding:
    - Body has been updated and is like the international version. (flat base), Serial number now starts with Z23L…
    - Battery backing plate is still the Chinese plastic version
    - Battery is still the 1010mAh Chinese version
    - Instruction manual is still in Chinese
    - It works with the international English app found on the google play store, so full English support!

    This website is a total gamble, bought my A118C dashcam decide from them 3 weeks ago. The dash cam decided to stop working after two days. I contact their customer service team. They try to offer me a partial refund of $20 USD (credit to use on their site) or pay another 30 USD for shipping another unit to me. If you want to test your luck go ahead and shop with them. Otherwise, you better off buying from a eBay locate seller which you are entitle for a protection.
