Obviously it's not as good as the last 20% off eBay deal but if you're in the market for one now it's still a great deal!

I bought it from 20% off Ebay promotion and loving it.

  • +7

Got the LG G4 for the previous $370 deal. Absolutely fantastic phone at that price. Even with slightly lower discount, it is still well worth it!

  • +4

Great price if you can't wait for a drastic price reduction. Also kogan shipping times are really fast, despite what they state.

  • Will this phone get much cheaper? Still rather this phone than the G5. :P

    • Well the G3, which came out a year earlier is only $100 cheaper before discount. It shouldn't go down too much more.

  • +7

Great phone but just make sure that it isn't used if buying from Kogan. Sending mine back was a nightmare and I am still waiting.

    • mine was brand new but had a sticker from kogan saying they opened it to check the contents…really sus actually but it was a "clean rom" from what i could see

      • If it's brand new than it should have sealed sticker from factory and it shouldn't be opened by Kogan. Once it's opened, it could be refurbished/ex demo. Mine one has some dirts on the plastic sealed to cover the lens, (the sealed half broken and crippled), and dirts on the body too. Kogan still claims its brand new. It's really no brainer :( Never buy from Kogan again.

        • Yes, I received it and I was not happy. The phone had dirty marks on it and came with Chinese bloatware as it was made for the Taiwanese market. The battery was unsealed and the battery back door had been opened. The Kogan QA was on there but the original seal was broken. If it is already factory sealed then why did they need to open it again? It doesn't make sense to me. It was suspicious and therefore I sent it back.

        • well unlike robb2002 below

mine had a sealed battery and no bloatware and the phone was immaculate with no fingerprint marks or dust

          so should be fine right

  • How is this compared to the G5 - big leap from the G4 to the G5? Thinking of getting this if its so cheap

    • +6

Yes Its a big leap in price

    • The G5 has the same main camera (plus a nice wide angle secondary sensor), a smaller screen (with some light bleed issues I hear), much thicker bezels, a smaller battery, and some build quality issues. Though the Snapdragon 820 SoC and fingerprint scanner are nice additions, the drawbacks certainly outweigh the benefits I'm afraid. Either grab the G4 or grab something else like a Nexus 6P. The G5 makes sense for absolutely no one I'm afraid :/

      • smaller battery but probably slightly better in battery life than the g4 thanks to the 820 and smaller screen. I hope it ends up with more modules of interest (the camera grip thing was cool until i read somewhere that the extra battery only kicks in when the cameras in use..)
edit: its got usb c and quick charge 3.0 going for it too

      • 6p turns me off because of the price - selling for US$499 in the US and $AU899 here

        • Lots of sales, and cheap on contract.

How is the gps?The Lg 3 gps wont work without internet connection.

    • +1

download the Nokia Here and the Australian maps pack in the app.

      • The issue is not with the map. The GPS wont lock and cant find the location

        • +1

It works fine, wife us using from last 7 months.

          It's a fantastic phone. You won't regret

        • @OzSikhs: Thanks for the reply.

        • I'm having the same problem on my g3! Makes car navigation impossible.

        • I have 3 G3's.
GPS woks fine on all with of without internet.

        • Try GPS Status app to assist with getting a lock.

  • Does this work with 4G for Optus?

    • +1

      yes it does.

      • -3

Don't give out incorrect information, the H815 cannot access Optus 2300mhz band, for that you will need the H815T

        • Will it do Telstra fine?

        • +1

I does give optus 4G connectivity but not 2300

      • +2

Have a look at this by Optus. Seems some say it doesn't seem to make much difference on Optus even.
        https://community.optus.com.au/t5/Network-Coverage/Where-is-…

    • +2

It works fine on Optus 4G network, wife us using it from last 7 minths, never missed a dingle beat since. She is on Optus prepaid. Infact she gets better 4G coverage on her LG G4 ftom kogan than My Australian Version Samsung Note 5. It sounds weired, but I can't understand that too.

But anyway, I would say go ahead. You'll be fine

    • +1

I had this on Optus and never had a problem with it.
Mind you I was with Telstra when I went to Canberra.. As I understand it was only an issue in Canberra.
never had a problem in other capital cities.

  • Does this model come with a built in stylus?

    • +1

      no

      • Thanks SpaceNinja. Can anyone suggest a ~6in phone with built in stylus? Budget <$400. I would be happy with second hand (if in good condition).

        • +1

          Note 4/5 = ebay

  • +2

Price is holding up, i think i paid 370 like 6 months ago. Great phone imo

  • +9

I had this phone. This phone has a bootloop issue that happens randomly (due to hardware defect). Whatever you try, it's stuck on the LG logo. See Youtube for crazy solutions (microwaving the phone, etc.)

    http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-proble…

LG says they will repair the affected device; however if you buy from online sellers like Kogan, they won't honour the promise.

I bought it from Kogan, and I had to send it back to Kogan for warranty/replacement. Still waiting for them to assess the device.

    Just a warning to everyone.

    • +2

This issue has been solved if your phone was produced after June 2015 (506xxxxxx in the serial number). I purchased my LG G4 from DWI in October, and it was the 508 model. No bootloop yet. Knock on wood.

      • +1

Hate to break it to you but I had this problem with my G4 and it was a 508 serial manufactured in September 2015.

      • I have a 506 G4, bootloop started on Friday last week :/ Purchased from eGlobal (LG Australia told me to take a hike) so have kick started the eGlobal RMA process.

    • Mine had the same problem.

Had to send back to qd_au for them to honour the warranty…

That was 6 weeks ago and still no updates.

Shame since I loved the phone!

      • I had to send mine back to QD_AU as well! Hope you get yours back soon.

        • Bugger.
Bought mine at QD in Oct last year……standing by and hoping no issues.

        • @albanyson:

What's the first 3 digits of your serial? The phones that have a high chance of bootloop occur with 505-509 serial. I've heard others in 510+ have got it, but not as much as the 505-509 range.

          Mine was 507…

If you bought in Oct 2015, you should have got at least a 510+.

        • @chuns:
Where do I find the serial number? Only see the IMIE number in settings/about phone

        • +1

          @albanyson:

You'll need to turn the phone off, take out the battery, and you'll see the Serial Number where the battery was.

          Starts with 5.

        • @chuns:
          Ok, thanks.
          I'll take a look.
          Cheers

        • @albanyson:

          Me too, hopefully nothing

        • @albanyson:

bootloop generally happens when you update to marshmellow from lollipop. If you haven't yet updated to marshmellow, then the chance of bootlooping is reduced.

        • @chuns:
I updated to 6.0 when it was released a little while ago

          Oh dear……😖

        • +1

          @albanyson:

oh dear indeed… best of luck to you and hope you got a good build.

      • damn man 6 weeks!? qd_au received mine on 12th April and I just asked them for an update. They responded saying LG are still investigating and/or repairing my phone.

        That was 2 weeks ago.

Thinking I might just grab this one….

    • I recently got the bootloop issue on my Kogan purchased LG G4 that I only got back in September. Tried to send it back to Kogan but they wouldn't do anything about it as I replaced the screen on the phone.

    • I bought my LG G4 through qd_au last August and am about to send it back due to the bootloop issue. Not looking good if they havent provided an update after 6 weeks…

      • May I ask how you are following up with them in regards to your RMA? I am only in contact with them by eBay Messaging.

        • I went through eBay email correspondence, I was given the NSW address that I will be sending off today along with a reference number. Going by others experience the time frame doesnt look very appealing though. I just hope they do actually repair/replace it.
Mine was a 505 Serial number.

      • Have you got your replacement? What date of you phone was built?

        • No replacement as yet, I have only sent it off today. I suspect it will be a repair instead of a replacement. Im not sure on the phones date sorry, prior to August 2015.

      • I bought this through Kogan in Sept last year and it got the bootloop issue. I sent it back to kogan and should be receiving the replacement today…
It should've been last week but Toll absolutely suck. I was around 3 weeks without a decent phone.
I was really happy with how quick and responsive Kogan were… I was having my doubts about buying grey market items through them, but they've come through pretty well!

    • I bought three LG G4 for the previous $370 deal but one of them got a bootloop issue.
I checked the produced date was January 2016 before I sent it back.
So I think LG haven't fixed that problems yet.
Still waiting and hope I can get a good/new one back asap.

  • Does anyone know how this compares to the Motorola X Play?
My little brother is tossing up between the two. The X Play seems to be heavier and have a better battery.
I also heard that the LG G4 can be a little glitchy and a few people have had to send theirs back after upgrading to marshmallow.

    • +3

Apples to oranges really. The X Play is a more basic smartphone (slightly worse camera, no 4K recording, worse SoC, worse display) with monster battery life and a fairly resistant build that's water resistant to boot.

The G4 has nicer features on paper (top of the line camera, better SoC, GORGEOUS display), but fairly average battery life, and a fairly fragile build.

I think he'd enjoy the X Play personally. As long as he isn't playing anything intensive (like Marvel Future Fight), the X Play delivers a (imo) nicer build, MUCH better battery life, a front facing speaker, (basic) water resistance, a much nicer, stock build of Android (again, imo).

The better SoC, and better camera of the G4 are pretty big gimmicks to the average consumer (no matter what differences some people think they can tell). The display is better, but the FHD IPS panel of the X Play is certainly respectable and no slouch.

      • +1

Thank you for the comprehensive review and recommendation, we went with the Moto X Play for my brother.

        • Your welcome, good choice! :)

  • +1

Great phone. Bought one from ebay earlier this month because I got impatient waiting for the next discount to come for this phone. Lol. Anyway I'm loving the phone. Everything is pretty good, but probably not as good looking as the iphone or the galaxy's despite the lovely leather back cover. All in all, I think the bang for buck you get for this phone has got to be right up there with the best.

  • is there still issues of bootloop?

I read that it was a hardware issue. Would this batch of LG g4's have bootloop issues?

I might get this phone if theres no bootloop, overheating, wifi, bluetooth problems x[

But, if there is, how is the warranty with Kogan?

    • +1

How would any of us know if this batch has the issues? Ask Kogan.

The customer service with Kogan isn't great at all, but at the very least this way you have eBay's backing.

  • I noticed the drop and purchased one of these for my wife. She doesn't seem to carry her camera and is disappointed with the photos from current phone. Camera on these seems to rate well. Hoping for the best.

  • Question: does Kogan ship fast?

    • Yes everytime I ordered with them, received it a lot earlier than the given timeframe

    • from the date of shipment yes

      • Received notification ours has been sent. Interesting to see when it gets here.

        • maybe 3-5 days. usually less than a week

        • @kungfu_tofu: Got it today-3 days. Not bad. Must say it seems good. Photo's look great even in lower light. Wife is happy. Had to change language to English. Instructions on YouTube

  • Thanks - my wife deserves an upgrade from the G3

  • I purchased this phone from last sale for $370.

It was a bit too big for my liking so I sold it at CEX for $403.

  • +2

Worth noting that these phones will be Taiwanese country code (TWN), so the bootloader will be locked. You will not be able to replace or root the stock marshmallow OS, (downgrade to lollipop will allow root).

    • are you serious ? will it working with Telstra 4G band, cheers,

      • It will work with Telstra fine and if you don't root your Android phones this may not impact you at all.

  • Bought mine from the ebay20 sale as well, however I have the touchscreen/waking up issue. Basically it requires multiple double taps/power button tap to wake the phone up.
Mildly frustrating at this point, does anyone has the same problem and know any workaround?

  • The biggest problem I had with this phone is that I paid nearly $600 for it….

Otherwise it's a perfect phone and the best part is the camera.

  • +1

i have had battery issues with the phone. heats up quite a bit as well..the interface lags a bit but that may due to too many apps being used..great camera..

Unfortunately, I swapped to Xiaomi note 3. Battery is awesome, no lags. Camera is inferior to g4..

    • I was about to buy Xiaomi Note 3 prime and someone said LG G4 is better, with your experience, Xiaomi is camera is good enough, even not better then LG, cheers

  • +1

Great phone and excellent camera but mine died after 6 months of use. Got stuck in a boot loop at the LG screen and never got it back to a working state.

Here's some info on the issue.
    http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/547864-lg-g4-stuck-bo…
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lg-g4-stuck-bootloop…
    http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-proble…

Many say it impacts units only that were manufactured before Sept 2015 with a 505xxxxxxxxxx serial but my one was manufactured on September 2015 with a 508xxxxxxxxxx serial.

It's sent back overseas for a warranty repair which is expected to take up to 2 months. It's iPhone 5 for me until the G4 comes back from repairs.

    • +1

      Are you me? haha

      I am hating this iphone

    • Whoa wth 2 months?? That's insane!

      Damn….

  • Wow, first time hearing about all these issues. Is this normal for a phone?

    • battery issue is quite common if you go a google search. they have tried to come out with updates, but none worked for me. at best i would get 12 hours of battery and phone would heat up substantially.

  • I bought LG G4 from last Kogan Ebay deal, undoubtedly great phone, However not impressed with the 2900mh battery I don't think its lasts it should be also having issues with its WiFi. It works completely fine with home router but at work it always connects and appears that it has signal but never works.
Please share any view on this, Cheers

    • most of company Wifi networks have the security setting.

      • Does that mean it could be fixed ?

  • +1

Just be careful buying stuff from Kogan. They send the refurbished/used item. My device came with some dirts on the body and it's happened to my friend too. No response from seller and escalated PayPal claim.

    • I've just put in a claim with Paypal too. Any news so far?

  • Just a warning, don't buy G4, the reboot and board issues are there and can't be fixed. Most retailers in HK stop selling them already (that's why I think it is so cheap on Kogan)…

    • It's fixed for later builds of LG G4. Just check your phones serial and if it's above 512xxxxxx then you should be safe.

  • Good phone with a good price.

  • +1

YUK, YUK, YUK on both counts - Kogan & LG. Have bought from both with poor products & even worse customer service.
It will never happen again & anyone I can warn to stay away from these companies will be a gain in them losing customer credentials & future sales.

  • Got one last deal. Once it goes to 350 I'll buy another one… I would have paid this price if could claim GST… This deal that's not gonna happen.
