Any good? I have no idea

    • seems ok, since it is a HP

      • it's red so it is no turtle ;)

        • Tortoise! loll

    • Only one of your post is the same as this model, the rest are inferior to this.

So this is actually the best deal for this model it has ever been.

There's something wrong with the sd card slots with these. Lots of complaints they keep disconnecting with certain cards. My 64gb won't work properly but a 32gb will.

And you will need extra storage as the last big windows update requires 10gb of free space which it didn't have out of the box.

How many G left when open box

      • When i was in HarveyNorman, I quick looked same model and it seems like 16.6GB free on 28GB

    • This happens to my Acer as well. It keeps corrupting my 64GB SD, but the 32GB ones work fine. I could never figure out why.

    • Could you let me know how many Gig left free out of box. What does 32GB eMMC (up to 500GB) means? Does it mean I could put additional memory upto 500GB?

      • +1

About 8gb left in mine, no apps installed

        • +1

If you delete all of the bloatware and some of the backups, you can get it to a bit over 10gb free IIRC.

Also, with the sd card inserted, it takes about a minute to boot. It takes a few seconds without the card in, so definitely something going on with it. This is the main thread in the HP forums but there are lots of other people that have opened other threads:

mini review - was cross shopping this last week. decent price, a bit cheaper than Harvey norman last week sale.

I was going to buy this or the asus transformer t100ha, I ended up getting the t100. it has 64gb instead of 32gb, charges through microusb (so I can carry one less cable) and according to reports a slightly better battery life.

however the HP definitely has a better keyboard and trackpad - the asus keyboard is quite noisy and doesn't feel as solid. plus the hp has front facing speakers.

both are great for an ultraportable - my priorities were portability and battery life, not power/performance as I have a desktop for that. Running full windows 10 is great too, but coming from an ipad, the windows 10 tablet mode is far worse.

The spec isn't clear, the good guys stated that the hard drive is upgradeable to 500gb, but reviews I found everywhere said not. It also says to have USB 3.0, but reviews said only 2.0

Haven't seen it in person, I recommend to check it out in person before you decide on a budget tablet/laptop/anything.

    • Heard there are newer model but with the same model number or code. Confusing. Maybe usb 3.0 for the newer…

      • The newer model look like this:

Do you think TGG will honor refund because of false advertising?

        • +1

I can't see anywhere on TGG mentioning USB 3. It either says nothing or USB 2, for the 2 devices in this post.

I think Trent copied those specs from HP (and it's probably for the newer version).

So, no I don't think they will refund for that reason, since it hasn't happened.

        • The article you even linked to explains that the Type C that HP included is not USB 3.

The USB-C port, interestingly, won’t be USB 3.0- or USB 3.1-compliant in speeds. Instead, the Pavilion x2 will run its USB-C port at USB 2.0 speeds.

        • @nismo: It's at the Product Features area, under Uncompromising Productivity.

Yes, even the USBC isnt 3.

I think this is still a decent deal, if you ignore the USB 2….

        • @fm:
OK. I'm on the mobile site & it was collapsed, my bad. But I can tell that section is scraped from HP's website.

Tgg's own info under Technical Specs clearly only states usb 2 so the TGG will happily point this out & blame HP for the erroneous section..

        • Z8300 is newer model than Z3736F

        • @jasonchen59: correct saw z8300 at jbhifi model is hp 10-n108tu

        • @nismo: I got the 365 as well.

          This is a good bargain, at $298, I get n $89 office 365.

It's ridiculously stupid to get the Office 365, simply because HP put no clue at all about it. However after you active the windows, login to your onedrive, and click upgrade, and then you will see office 365 personal option for free.

One advantage of this laptop if this is for your job/study, it's fully tax deductible because it's under $300.
    https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/income-and-deductions/ded…

    • it's an immediate tax deduction.
laptops that cost greater than $300 are still fully tax deductible, you just claim the decline in value for laptop over three years.

      • I don't fully understand tax, but isn't the claim of decline in value doesn't claim the whole value?
What I mean is that, after three years, not the whole value will decline, would it?

        • You claim a percentage each year. More to remember, include etc.

  • I wish I can exchange the colour…

  • Some of these tablet PCs you can open up and there is a normal msata connection inside that you can upgrade the internal storage.

  • Does anyone know if this supports active stylus for handwriting?

  • Damn, bought the N103T from HN deal last week that has slightly slower chip. Im happy with it so far though, lightweight, battery good, and smooth as long as u not multitasking too much

  • Comment removed

  • what's really life battery on the N104TU please?

  • +2

Ok, I actually bought this, I have just pick it up. I was hoping the colour is silver like the picture on the box, however it's still red…

Anyway, the good news is, it does have USB 3.0, I checked the Device Manager, it has USB 3.
The bad news is, there is no sign that Office 365 is anywhere. I'll call TGG tomorrow to ask how I can get it.

So far I'm satisfied with it. It's not bad for $300.

    • Thanks! I wasn't going to get this cause of usb2, but now I will :)

  • From this service manual http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04701754, both RAM and eMMC are chips soldered on the system board, i.e. no easy upgrade. However, inside the keyboard piece, some models (???) may have a SATA compartment.

  • Is there any noticable difference or advantage over the 2 models, Detachable or not?
Or is just a matter of preference?

  • Will this be a good linux laptop?
