  • No OS, some of the similar products on the page seem like better deals because they include the OS. Good if you are going down the linux (or like) path

    • Description is not clear but if you look down on the Q&A's ………

…Is windows 10 preloaded in this item. The description says it is but the specification says it isn't?
      Yes, Windows 10 is preloaded.
By Jason ord on 28 February 2016

So looks like it comes with Win 10 preloaded

      • Oh right well then it is a significantly better deal

  • Looks interesting but reviews seem poor on both Amazon and Lenovo sites. Main complaints seem to be terrible WiFi speeds and people getting sent used devices.

  • A bit to low spec to run windows 10.

    • Not at all.

    • Not really - I let my my Toshiba Encore 8" [1st model] finally update last week, and it runs smoother and the interface is a lot more useful than 8.1. I'm not a microsoft fan by any means, but once you clear off or stop the `live tiles' rubbish and empty off the junk advert programs [such as "money", "sport" and " get a chance to rent something there are better free alternatives for for $100 a year"] and keep them off it'd be a good way cheap to get a Smart TV that wasn't really a slow moron like the dedicated ones.
Then again, Linux would be quicker for that purpose, but Windows would offer the average user easier compatibility with their back catalogues.

      • Toshiba Encore 8" [1st model]

That's what I based my comment off too!

        finally update last week

        Why did you wait?

        • I wasn't sure how it would go with only 32 Gb storage and Office 2013 installed, so had moved the recovery off and reclaimed the space, then misplaced the card with my recovery - plus I was getting sick and tired of removing the junk programs three or four times before microsoft paused dropping them on for a short while with them on my other boxen!

        • @terrys:

I'd recommend doing a clean install with the ISO.

        • @PainToad: I'm glad I didn't - I ran onto problems with the camera sulking and had to roll back to the 2013 driver that was still on there:-p
Then again, when I say "camera" …

  • I was at a stage about to manufacture a mini box pc. Played with same specs as this product, made various perfect clean no bloat images, and 8.1 on this type of spec performed so much better than 10.

    • Turning the "live tile" crud off in 10 helps quite a lot - especially as each one probably takes its own memory and ticks to tell itself the 'Net isn't available when wi-fi is off given the normal Microsoft way of doing things :-/

  • Can anyone comment on what the media playing experience would be like? Would it be good enough to push out 1080p well…?

    • Yes, definitely. I don't have this particular stick but I have something similar with the same processor, so I'm not sure about potential thermal issues though.

    • i had a Zotac PI320 mini PC which runs the same z3735F processor. i guess it depends what media streaming service you use. i found it to be very quick, but did get hot and had throttling issues.

specifically i used it for streaming from SkyGo (UK) and had constant buffering problems - SkyGo still uses Silverlight if that makes a difference. i switched to using my X230i which runs an i3-3120m and have no issues there.
that said, i didn't experience the same buffering issues when watching bbc iplayer or other content.
