Standard price is $1599 according to your last post ($1549 with $50 off in last post)… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243943

Edit: nvm, this one includes the M.2 drive. Extras valued at $129, not too bad.

Maybe edit original post to make it clearer the bargain is the bonus M.2 drive, seemed pretty average price until I manually compare the differences to a standard P640RE.

If you remove the SSD from the list, the price comes to $1534, which is $16 cheaper.

      • Better off keeping it and selling it on Ebay for ~$80-90 if you don't want it. Equal to like $50-60 in your pocket after postage and ebay fees.

    • OK thanks for the advice, I have added BONUS into the title. Had to take out some text as there's a limit to the amount of characters allowed in the title.

  • would this be fine outputting via HDMI to tv for gaming , thinking of selling my macbook pro and getting a small gaming laptop to play new tomb raider and quantum break

  • How long does the battery last on this? Like, 2 minutes? But it sounds amazing for portable rendering work I need to do.

    • Yes I don't recommend buying for using for long sessions off battery. The specs are quite beefy.
      The manufacturer claims 290mins.

      Power
      • Full Range AC adapter, AC in 100~240V, 50~60Hz, DC output 19.5V, 9.23A , 180W
      • Embedded 3 cells Polymer battery pack, 45WH
      • Battery life : 290 minutes (with UMA mode, 45WH Battery)

Personally I do wonder how they get these figures. If you're gaming or rendering a lot then it would probably only last 1-2 hours.

      • update
I just spoke with Metabox and they now have an updated BIOS which gives this model an extra 1 hour of battery life. This would be when running in the power saving mode. It would be more like an extra 20-30mins when gaming.

If I had a need for a gaming laptop, I'd be hot on this. Nice.

  • Does this machine utilise Nvidia Optimus technology?

    • Yes it does. It switches between on-board graphics and the dedicated GTX970M graphic card.
      Kris

  • does this come with TPM2.0 chip? In the clevo link you have provided it says this is factory option.

    • +1

Apparently the P640RE is showing TPM2.0 in the device manager.

        Further to this.
The specific product is the "Infineon Optiga TPM" chip, usually shortened to IFX.

        • great news, thanks!

  • Hi rep,

any chance of getting this deal with the ability to pay to upgrade to the 3k screen? I've been looking at getting one of the P640RE for a while.

    • Let me check on this.
      Kris

      • Hi GloveM8,
Metabox said that unfortunately it is only available on the base panel model. Not the 3K panel model, sorry.
        Kris

  • Any chance of a deal on the N150RD coming up soon? This is a good'un but a bit more than I need right now :(

    • I will check on this for you :)
      Kris

      • I just sent you a PM.
        Kris

  • Any chance of a deal on the P650RE coming up soon?

    • Not at the moment, I'll send you a PM.
      Kris

  • yeah was almost tempted with this deal but looking at metabox website directly its not the biggest saving and i already played the division on ps4 and finished it, maybe once no mans sky is out i will look back into getting a gaming laptop but will def keep an eye on kong as does look like best deal if i wanted something right now

    • Hi Spedstyle,
      Thanks for the message.
What do you mean by the Metabox site has a better saving?
Did you mean with the current Boost promotion?
If you click on our OzBargain P640RE webpage you'll see that the Metabox Boost promotion has been incorporated into our deal as well.
      http://www.kongcomputers.com/product-detail/gamers/metabox-p…

Click on the customise menu for "M.2 SSD1" (on the right) and the prices are much cheaper than on the Metabox website, plus we have incorporated the Boost RAM promotion as well.

      Cheers

  • Great deal, I'm very tempted. Though I think I'll hold off for Pascal m-GPUs.

    • yeah I'm surprised there was no mobile GPU announcement when they showed off the new pascal GPU's yesterday as normally aren't mobile GPU's upgraded before regular GPU's as vendors have to get them ready for new laptops? so don't see any coming out till late 2016 at earliest and will be super expensive still i think i will hold out till EOFY for some more sales as I'm in no hurry to get something right now, also Kris i wasn't saying Metabox site had better savings you guys have way better prices just that the bonuses were the same and nothing i actually wanted right now.

      • Thanks, I see now. Cheers :)
        Kris

  • Any more deals coming up for the n150rf?

      • Hi Again petematmcc,

Could you send me a PM and we'll organise that deal for you.
        Cheers
