113

I guess the Z5500 deal is finally here.
Fluidtek has it for $339 pick up with stock coming in this afternoon, but you can order now.
Instore only with a max of 2 per customer.
I guess it's time to wait and see what LTS has to offer delivered

MX5500 is $159
Z320 is $39
G13 is $55
G19 is $145 like mentioned in the other post by BC (but if bought with a Z5500 it's only $130)
Harmony 515 is $29

Good indicator of how much the LTS price will be. I wonder how much freight costs to deliver over 20 kilos of Z5500.

  • IMO wit was much better the combo offer from logitechshop: Z-5000 + $50 speakers + freight($40)= $399.
This one is $339 + $40 (pick up in store should not be considered as free)= $379

Is this the good deal everyone was waiting for ?? I was expecting something closer to HT @$199, or just in the middle @$300.

    • where's the combo offer can't find it
and why should u include a shipping fee when there isnt any shipping involved with picking up from the store? makes no sense

      • -5

My time is not free !! The freight is a valuable service that you have to include it in the equation.

        • -1

if u live in sydney it shouldn't take more than an hour or ah hour and a half to get there and home, so unless ur job pays more than 26.70-40 (depending on how far away u are) after tax an hour dont complain
and if ur job is paying as much as 40 an hour u shouldnt complain anyway cause ur raking in the cash at that rate

          • -3

            @Trance N Dance: I found TLS offer: Logitech z-5500+Z320 for $399 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/22798
Anyway, you have to give some value to a free delivery for comparing 2 deals. I gave it $40 that should be a fair price for delivering a bulky and heavy box.
I will keep waiting for a better offer including delivery (usually TLS deals include free shipping)

    • HT price was a clearance item . Your free to contact them and see if they can resell it anyway in the future at that price. other than that your neg is more than welcome :)

      • -1

Of course not. And I am not expecting that you offer a good deal forever. IMO delivered for $299, it's an awesome deal. Count me in w/1 box and the 50 positive votes !! (It will be the most voted deal of the history)

Please don't take my neg personally. You usually have excellent deals in keyboards, but I don't think this is a good one.

        • -6

I think some expectations of the z5500 (after the Harvey Norman and officeworks clearance sales) may be a bit unrealistic. I think $340 is a decent deal. Can't speculate on what the actual cost price is but I don't think it's very far off.

          • @Livert: $340 delivered it's an acceptable deal. But going back to TLS deal and stripping the figures

            Logitech z-5500+Z320+delivery for $399
            - Z320 $50
            -delivery $40
            Logitech Z-5500 = $309 !!! Even w/ delivery @$20, the final price for Z-5000 was $329

The only reasons I didn't buy it at that time were that Z320 were useless for me and I didn't want to sell them on ebay. So the combo, wasn't offering anything interesting for me.

What about this one: z-5500 + MX revolution for $369 delivered ??

            • +3

@SrMoure: Ah well, we'll see. Happy to be proven wrong by BC. I have yet to put in an order for one myself.

A bit of a neg party happening at the moment. Let it be clear that I have not + or - any comment on this thread.

if this is the crazy price for the Z5500, then it's 'No Deal'. simple

    Go Eddie GO!!!

  • +1

I hope logitechshop have a better price than this.

  • +5

These speakers were released almost 6 years ago. Don't know why people still obsess over them?

    from 2004: http://reviews.cnet.com/pc-speakers/logitech-z-5500/4505-317…

  • Come on guys $339 delivered and we have a deal. ($300 pickup)

  • +2

what is this logitchshop every keeps talking about? Is there a store website?

  • -1

So the new trend is to neg the deal and keep requesting a deal that you like and then you will be happy? (and comparing to a clearance price from elsewhere isn't all that reasonable)

    Bad precedent.

    • +4

He just gave his thoughts on the deal, it's not like he said something like "omg stupid deal worst ever neg!!". he explained why he wasn't the biggest fan of the deal.

it's like going into a movie with high expectations, and then the movie doesn't turn out as good as you thought it would. You aren't allowed to criticize the movie? of course you are. same case here, this deal was being pretty hyped, and it's $340 pick up. that'll be around $370-$390 delivered, so people are saving around $10-$30.

guess not gonna buy these any more, now just waiting for the UE's :)

      • +1

Lets get one thing straight this deal here is not LTS shop , and at no time was it ever advertised as LTS . So could the hype be correct , Who knows . A premature Neg if i go by your thoughts , anyhow . I totally agree with the thoughts of Antman76 . Dude . Awsome reply .well said

        • +2

This is true. However I never gave a negative to this deal, and a lot other people who weren't 'satisfied' didn't either. There's only 4 negatives on here. You shouldn't be too focused on negatives and positives anyway, at the end of the day, it's about the sale numbers, because if there are a lot of sales, then it's good for business, and you're clearly making a lot of people very happy :) so no need to make a big deal about neg votes, or positives for that matter.

That said, like Knightelf states below, because LTS and FT are brother companies, and on top of that have also merged, it's hard to not compare the two and assume they'll be different deals. In the past both stores have sold things at the same price, so people probably thought the same with these. Maybe ye, separate the two stores in terms of FB and Twitter, after all, it's not like Coca-Cola Company try advertising Coke and Sprite in the same ad, they have separate advertising campaigns, if you understand what I mean.

I understand the Z-5500's especially are hard to price a bargain at, because of the HT clearance, the cost price and profit margin of the unit, trying to keep everyone happy, and when compared to previous LTS deals.

This is still a cheap price if you live around FluidTek. And I don't expect LTS to be like $199, if it is, great, if not, doesn't really matter. Like you said bc, a bargain should be something considerably cheaper than it is from other stores. And I'm sure LTS can live up to that :)

Sorry for the long post. For the record, LTS/FT have not lost any respect, well, at least not from me.

          • @6pread6heet: Not wanting to get into debate about how good the deal is. Just want to correct a misconception here about the focus on negative votes.

A negative vote can be more powerful than a positive vote as 2 negatives early in the piece (no counterbalancing by a large number of positives) will mean the deal goes silent. It disappears off most peoples screens (this is because the default settings of Ozbargain) So obviously posters are a little more sensitive to this action

  • +1

It is hard to know whether it is LTS or FT… especially on LTS twitter it says you guys have merged… I wouldn't blame people for getting confused!

If they are separate (with different prices) you should start up a different FT twitter & facebook, rather than using LTS accounts to post FT deals~

$339 pick up is not a crazy price!

  • +1

If fluidtech would start to deliver then it would be a decent deal. As if Im gonna drive 40 minutes each way to buy computer parts which I could have delivered for slightly more.

  • +1

    not a bargain

    • +1

Not a bargain as in? A bit more description on why you're voting negative would help others with your negative vote. Please read the voting guidelines.

If there's no further explanation on why this is not a bargain by mid-day, I'm revoking the negative.

  • I thought there would be more savings after having waited so long, but I guess there's a limit on everything.
Maybe the new series would cause a dramatic price drop in the near future.

Someone said above that Harris Technology had it at $199?
That was due to the pricing error and was not actually sold at that price, right?

    • That was due to the pricing error and was not actually sold at that price, right?

      Wrong! ;)
      Few people got it.

  • -1

Just to keep it fair , and like they say , if you cant beat them Join them , i will remove my positive vote as a store rep , i dont think i should vote , on a deal with so many opinions .

    • hmmm .. will LTS be offering anything better?

  • +3

I think if this had been $340 at HN or OW, then it would have far more votes… or $340 including shipping.

Definitely the best price around for the Z5500s but I don't know whether they really are a bargain at this price? At $290 or $300, I think they start to hit "bargain" territory…..maybe 50 or 60 +ve votes on ozbargain.

  • +1

For me to drive out to that store I need a monster bargain. I would give a positive vote for $360 including postage any day of the week.

    • harthagan.

Your vote is valid, in that our minimum negative voting requirement is a clear comment, but I do ask you read the wiki, to understand what we would like people to consider before making a negative vote. The considerations are to look at refraining from voting or a negative vote.

Keeping to the guidelines does assist more people here. Comments are still appropriate and leave it to others to make up their minds. The negative vote is designed to remove deals that have major issues with them like spam, normal price, high shipping costs etc. This is all subjective so its a gray area.

You do seem to be using this to a large extent lately, and I think you might not understand that it is a tool for members for community benefit, mainly a warning, it's not meant to express a personal preference. In those cases a no vote is the default.

Ok thanks for this information. I guess my issue with these fluidtech deals is that they dont offer postage so they are available to a tiny % of people. And even for people living in Sydney like myself it is not worth the driving time. I mean if it was $300 then yes it would be worth it but as it is I think this deal is only a bargain for those living within a very close distance to the actual store. Its only really a bargain if it is accessible to people, out in the middle of nowhere with not postage or shipping provided = not a bargain.

  • +2

So let me get this straight , even though the price of the z5500 Australia wide is over $360 instore not delivered anywhere , whether its static ice , shop-bot or whatever . even though its the cheapest by miles . Its still worth a negative , because someone did a clearance on it last year , with under 50 units in stock . it makes this not a bargain . a bargain as far as i am concerned is a product that is considerably cheaper than other stores at the time of posting the deal .
Please keep in mind i didn't post it . and did not vote (actually did ,then revoked ) but it looks like in everyone eyes or many , a negative based on the above reasons is an OK negative . I'm not here to argue the negative , just to state a few facts . One is very important , This not What LTS is selling it for . and Some negatives were based on those facts . anyhow everyone is entitled to their own opinions , I thank you all and hope you can get them cheaper than that from somewhere , someday .
    Regards
    BC

    • on the matter of voting arent negative votes only given out on price if u can get it immediately from somewhere else, not based on a clearance sale with limited numbers from YONDERS BACK. for those who want one now and not months ago this is the best price available and should be looked at if you want to buy one now, with no prejudice because of past prices.
so like if i want a new tv now that56" pana plasma they had for 2k last year, i wont buy one or consider a similar alternative until i see that price again? no of course not, i'll accept that I wasn't lucky enough to grab the limited numbers they had because it was eol, and look for either that or a similar one for the next best price.
now in this case the old sale is over, those who havent bought were the unlucky ones, and now if they want one this is the BEST price available, and should be looked at that way.

for those who gave the neg's you guys are either pissed off cause you missed the HT clearance, or you guys are living in lala land hoping that they will come down to that ridiculously low price.
they probably won't cause a that price they would probably be cost price or "cost+$1". they had litle stock so they can afford to do that. LTS/FT on the other hand have a shipping container full of em, and continuously selling at that price would not be vaiable on a comercial view point. they would have no incentive to trade if they don't have a reasonable profit.

hopefully LTS will learn how their customers have responded to this pricing and will give us a better price delivered in teh near future

    • Check this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/22798 .

I voted negative, because I don't think it's a bargain. Same price but delivered would have been a positive vote.
I am not based my opinion on a price of $199. TLS offered Z-5500 @ $349 delivered
