    • Only gold seem to be cheaper, other colours are $10 more.

Edit: for the standard redmi 3

  • Can you get them to enable band 28 in the firmware ?

    • +1

Is that even possible? I thought the hardware to support band 28 doesn't exist in these phones.

    • this is more likely a hardware limitation with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset. However i'm not sure but probably easy to google. :)

  • how the heck did they put a 4000mah battery into a 5inch phone? lol

    • They can use smaller font to fit "4000mAh" on it. ;)

      • hahahaha .. possible.. or its 4000 in another dimension with diff numbering system and 4000 actually = 2000 in this dimension :P

    • maybe the phones an inch thick?

      • 8mm, 5/16"

  • Can this phone get Marshmallow (Android 6.0)?

gsmarena says it only supports 5.1, but it's been wrong before.

    • I think there's a beta MIUI that is based off Android 6, but a Stable hasn't been released yet.

Lollipop for now. It's a pretty popular phone, so I'd be surprised if it doesn't get Marshmallow. I've got this. It's quite worth it for the price (I got mine for just $298). In any case, Google Play services sends out security patches these days, if that's what you'e worried about.

      • Thoughts on the phone?

        • +1

Love it. Photos are a little bland. Needs good light. Other than that, it's a winner.

3GB RAM, 32GB storage, expandable memory or dual-sim, IR blaster… ticks all the boxes for me. I'm on Vodafone, so all my frequencies are covered. If you're on another network, you might be missing band 28 on 4G.

MIUI isn't a bad-looking skin. Works quite well. Their added apps are so-so. Just uninstall or disable the ones you don't want, and hide the ones you can't install in a folder.

    • MIUI7 or 8, whatever is next runs on Marshmallow 6.0,and supports almost all xiaomi devices, coming out in July with the Mi Max launching with MIUI8 prior to July

  • Should I get this or http://www.everbuying.net/product818456.html

Both have 3GB Ram, MI4 is cheaper with 1080p screen

    • Mi4 doesn't have a microSD slot I believe, so the 16gb would kill it for me.

Holy shit, paypal's currency conversion adds $10 to every purchase. Never again using paypal

    • +1

Can't remember how to do it off the top of my head, but you can force PayPal to charge in the native currency and let your card do the conversion. Especially good if you have 28 degrees or the Citibank transaction plus, but may work out better on most cards.

      • It is my fault because I did it quickly but I checked again, you have click on the exchange rate and then go "choose other currency options". I just didn't expect it to be 0.7 ever. What really tricked me is the "continue" button confirmed the purchase. I expected a "confirm purchase" button on the next page.
