        apparently the dealsmachine version comes with a unofficial ROM, which cant be updated, and fingerprint scanner doesnt work until reflash

    So it is really up to personal preference as Redmi 3 pro and Redmi note 3 pro have virtually same specs.

    The only difference is the screen size. (5.0 inch vs 5.5 inch) as the snapdragon 616 and 650 are very similar.

    Ahh, of course the price is different (AUD$226 vs AUD$266)

      Hmmm, I wouldn't say Snapdragon 616 and 650 are similar, 650 is more or less comparable with 808 in terms of CPU (GPU, Adreno 510 I think was worse than what is in 808… Can't remember how it competes against what's in 616, adreno 405, that said, I wouldn't be surprised if it is better).

        Hi Oversimplified, you are right. There is a big difference between Snapdragon 616 and 650. I have always used Antutu (not perfect but a good guide) to compare performance and features of smartphones. Snapdragon 650 score of 78252 is slightly more than double that of Snapdragon 616 of 33726. Just bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro with 3Gb Ram and 32Gb Rom in Singapore for SGD299 (also around AUD299) which came with international ROM ie Google Playstore etc. I owned few other Chinese made smartphones including Meizu Mi Note, Elephone P7000 and Ulefone Touch 2 and I would anytime recommend the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. My fingerprint scanner works perfectly and superfast as compared to Elephone and Ulefone which also has fingerprint scanners. Please see link for a detailed comparision between a Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro against a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. I would recommend spending more money to get the Redmi Note 3 Pro. It is worth the extra money for a much better processor, screen and camera resolutions.

          How much better is the camera on the pro? I have the redmi note 3 with 2.0ghz octa core processor. I love the phone and the only weakness for me is the low light camera performance.

          My wife's old HTC is showing signs of dying, battery now very poor etc. If I was confident the redmi note 3 pro had a better camera it would be ideal. She takes more photos than me so more of an issue for her.

          @Brianqpr: Hi Brianqpr, please see the link below for comparision between my Redmi Note 3 Pro against your Redmi Note 3. I believe your phone uses the Mediatek Helio X10 MT6795 whereas mine uses the Snapdragon 650. As for the camera, Redmi Note 3 Pro has a better resolution of 16Mpx against the Redmi Note 3 of only 13Mpx. Frankly, I do not know what all these numbers means. Maybe, some of the other Ozbargainers who might have better knowledge of these numbers can provide advice as to whether the Redmi Note 3 Pro has better camera performance than your Redmi Note 3.

        The fingerprint feature (Note 3 Pro) is awesome (at least for me) but only when it works. I noticed if my phone stays idle for a while, the fingerprint don't work and I have to use the "pattern" to unlock it. Kind of annoying. And I believe it's a known problem which the developers are fixing.

    Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro: No AC wireless support. No 4G Band 28 700 Mhz support for Telstra & Optus. No 4G Band 5 850 Mhz support for Vodafone. No Android 6 upgrade? Other than that seems reasonable, especially for the price.

    A few weeks ago I ordered the Note 3 Pro 3GB/32GB - great phone, no problems whatsoever. I needed it quickly, as I was going traveling, so I ordered from VickMall.com. They updated the ROM as part of the service (right on the order page) and sent DHL. I paid more than others here, but not so much more that I wouldn't do it again.

    I note the same seller I used has the Note Pro 3GB/32GB today for USD$220. From memory DHL (which only took ~4 days to WA) was only $15 more.

    It's slightly more than other sellers, but I can vouch for the seller and the delivery timeframe using DHL.

    Is the lack of 700mhz & 850mhz LTE bands a big deal? Is the 1800mhz LTE band available widely in metro areas from all carriers?

    Probably wont buy as I don't want a gold phone and the code doesn't apply to silver/deep gray. I don't really get why the gold Xiaomi's are always so much cheaper than the others. Do they purposely make the most unpopular colour cheap so people are forced to pay a higher price for the colour they want? They all should be the same price in my opinion…
