Sanyo 2 Slice Toaster - $5 - Coles Mentone (VIC)

400

I just picked up a Sanyo brand toaster at my local Coles (Mentone, VIC) for only $5. 2 Slice toaster with a 12 month warranty. I'm pretty sure this would be the price along all Coles stores, but I'm not sure how many stores would stock them. For the record - the Mentone store is very small, and they had more than 20 in stock.

I thought this was way too good to pass up!

Hoard a few for cheap wedding gifts everybody!

    • Remind me not to invite you to my wedding! :D It might be more suitable for a housewarming gift for an 18 year old moving into their first sharehouse.

  • Just make sure it doesn't burn your house down.

I have bought 3 of these so called cheap toasters and have nothing but trouble. Both of them managed to cause fire before breaking down (lucky i was there both of the times).

      Lesson; never by cheap toasters.

Did you report the faulty toasters to the Dept of Fair Trading? Because if they are a consumer hazard, the DoFT can force the importer or manufacturer to do a recall.

Most cheap toasters are fine, there is nothing so complex in a toaster that would cause it to make a fire unless they did something very wrong.

I purchased my toaster for $8 at BIG W, its been fine so far :)

You bought 3 of these cheap toasters, but only both of them caught fire - did I read correctly?

But seriously, if they did catch fire, either look at what you're doing with them, or else you really should report them to Fair Trading or at least the place you bought them from, because fires from toasters can kill people!

  • Sanyo cooking division was bought years ago by Midea I think the largest small goods manufacturer in China and from the Midea products I have used got to say the best bang for buck. quality and price.
