iPad Pro 9.7 32GB Wi-Fi $839 @ The Good Guys

340

I think this is the lowest price in the retail store for 9.7 pro?

Price matched at Good guys and used Amex deal. I spent another $56 and paid by 3 Amex to get $150 back.
Amex deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248232

The deal is not as good as the previous Kogan eBay deal but we have 2years warranty in Au for local stock.

Update: no need price matching, TGG is doing $844 now.

  • ipad has 2 years warranty??

Yes, if you bought an Australian version. Just go to an Apple Store. They will replace it.

        Warranty 12 month

        No… it doesn't have 2yrs

        • +6

In Australia, they will give 2 years. Ask any guys in Apple Store, they will tell you.

        • @rhyme324:

Ah, I'm looking at Apple sites etc… Apple only gives 12 months on everything. Anything beyond that is up to ACL

        • +6

Apple warranty is 12 months ON TOP of Australian consumer law 12 month warranty. Same with their phones. So 2 years. And if you have to have your device replaced, the 2 years starts again :)

          @narcoleptic-haze:

Which I stated above. To say the Apple warranty is 24 months is a lie and it's only due to ACL that you get up to 24 months.

          http://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/

Note (from the site above) that you have to contact the seller for a warranty repair under ACL, not Apple directly.

Unlike Samsung, who just outright offer a 24 month warranty

        • +2

          @narcoleptic-haze:

Apple gives 2 years warranty, unless changes from ACL.

Guaranteed. I always return faulty items back to APPLE within 2 years and no questions asked, got replacements like new all the time.

        • @Spackbace: Hmm ok. I did have an iPhone 6 that died on me after the 12 months (bought from elsewhere) and they (Apple) happily replaced it on the spot, and told me about the 2 years starting again with the new device.

        • Apple are being dishonest by failing to say Australian law is actually 2 years.

        http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/digital-life-news/apple-k…

The warranty is 2 years, even though Apple will not disclose it. I needed to get my iPhone replaced after 18 months for a button fault, they were initially reluctant to help me, but as soon as I mentioned this article, they replaced it free of charge.

        • Its quite interesting that Apple has changed their warranties for all of their range to 2 years. I remember the big debacle that they got hounded by the consumers for not matching back to the minimum 2 year plans from the Telcos. Hence it pretty much applies to iphones and possibly ipads. But did not know that the Mac's are two years too - considering most laptop manufacturers only offer 12 months as well.

        • It was only 12 for my ipod that fkd up after 13 months

        • @tomkun01:

You fell for their lies. Go back and tell them you will call ACCC or find the website url and ask them to read.

        • @ninetyNineCents: it was years ago. The ipod had a scratch on it. I said i dropped it months before, but it had been fine since. They said i dropped it so they won't cover it. Bought a refurb ipod that died the same way. Understandably, I haven't touched apple since and portable music has kind of died.

        • @tomkun01:

Your reply is confusing and low on details so its hard to judge what happened. Now you mention scratch, you cant honestly expect any warantee claim for a scratch after months of use, previously you said the ipod (profanity) up. Im confused how is a scratch turn an ipod into (profanity) and unusable.

        • @ninetyNineCents: they noticed it had a scratch on it and asked if I dropped it. I said yes. They said no dealio.

I know it wasn't the drop that fukd it because it worked perfectly for months following the drop.

  • Never ever lose your wallet!!! :) +ve just for rorting the amex system.

  • I think you mean "Price matched at Good guys"

Should also mention that Apple is excluded from the Amex deal, even though apparently it still works.

    • They don't know what you bought.

    • I know. But I got cash back every time. Apple product, gift card etc..
Will let you know if credit come though in the next couples of days.

  • Meh, still find it too expensive. This is supposed to replace the Air2? (that could be had for under 700AUD for 64GB shortly after it came out)

    • It isn't supposed to replace the Air 2 as they are still available from Apple?

They are just selling it along side it because it has better specs than the Air 2.

    • They've increased the price of ipad pro 9.7 entry model by $100 USD compared to the entry level iPad Air 2 + Air 2 would've been cheaper in terms of nominal AUD price because of the exchange rate being better than what we face, it has been going down since last few years, probably 20% worse.

  • Popped in at my local Good Guys on the way home. They were almost out of stock of all iPad Pro 32 with only two rose gold units left. Bought one for $840 and scored AMEX rebate.

    Cheers

  • I hate to break it to you, but the American Express Good Guys $50 back offer specifically excludes Apple.

From the terms and conditions of the AMEX offer "Purchases of Apple, ASKO, Miele, Neff, Jennair, Falcon, delivery, installation services or purchases utilising previously earned Store Credits do not qualify for this promotion."

I tried purchasing an Apple iPad from The Good Guys the last time AMEX had this offer and it was not honoured.

    • Must be something wrong. I received Amex email right after I paid. Credit should go though in the next couples of days.

      • That's good. Hopefully you get lucky and you get your credit, but AMEX did not honour my purchase the last time.

  • Any idea how much of the 32 gig is actually free to use?

    • +1

I have one, it was about 25GB or 26GB out of the box. I deleted all the Apple apps I could, which gave me a bit more storage.

  • How did you get $150 cash back?
AMEX Connect says $50 cash back only?
    "The Good Guys
Spend $300 or more, get $50 back"
Did you use three different AMEX Cards?

    • +1

Yes, three different accounts. One main account and two supplementary cards.

  • Anyone know who does the best price on the bigger version ?

  • I got TGG to price match (they would not beat) OW's price on the 128GB in Space Grey over the phone before driving over. I was all excited and ready to pull the trigger but at the counter I was told they wouldn't accept AMex because I wasn't paying ticket price!!

40 minute round trip wasted. Buyer beware.

  • Price drops to $839 now.

  • Question here, if we use 2 Bank Amex issued black cards to pay separately (for the statement credit) for the iPad Pro, do we still get the extended warranty provided by our bank issued Amex?

    • Statement credit offer has expired

      • I think it expires 25/06/16…

        • Oh, yes if you've already enrolled it's still valid. But no new enrollments can be made.
