Great tablet - I love mine. I think your first link's description should be S2 instead of just S (different model).

    • +1

The Tab S is a 16:9 10.5" older generation model and the link to the item is definitely for a TAB S2 that's 4:3 9.7“.

  • So would it be worthwhile nabbing one of these at this price or waiting for the next gen version which as far as I can tell has a 200mhz quicker CPU possibly with a massively inflated new tech price tag?

    • I wouldn't pay $250 more for the new (T813N) model.

    • +1

Hmmm? Do you mean Exynos 7420? I've not heard any rumours on next generation tablet (or in fact whether they have a next generation flagship model coming up). Though I'd assume 7420'd be better than just that. At least, GPU would be better for certain, given how it did have 2 more clusters (Mali-T760 MP6 vs MP8). Plus, better finFET, better battery life blah.

I hope they overclock SoC a bit if they release it with 7420, tablets being tablet and all.

Of course, I am ignoring the refresh model that has the name Tab S3 in some countries of course (the one with Snapdragon 652).

    • New model uses the mid-range new Snapdragon, but should be fully 64bit (this one is a 64bit processor, but Samsung decided to run it in a 32bit OS). But initial test only show a slight <10% performance boost.

Not worth it IMO. hence why I got this instead of waiting

  • it's weird going via the ebay 20% link to Bing Lee there's only the $48 no name tablet.

I tried to add to one to the cart & it won't let me.

  • Damn, I'm nowhere near a Bing Lee to be able to claim this :(

    • Buy it with delivery, it's still eligible. You just won't get 20% off delivery however. It worked for my Good Guys items.

      • In-store pickup only according to the eBay item.

        • $9 delivery for me, i'm in WA

        • I must be doing something wrong…

The address specified in your cart is in a location that doesn't meet the seller's postage requirements. You can change the postage address in your cart and try adding this item again, or contact the seller to request an exemption.

        • @KablammoNick: Are you one of these which it says it won't deliver to? I'm guessing they must ship only to Metro areas
QLD Regional, SA Regional, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

        • Ahah! Changed primary address to a friends place in metro Adelaide - I'm SA Regional.

          Cheers!

        • @KablammoNick: Cool :)

    • Ok I got it working. it's 20% of the price. but delivery isn't discounted.
      so I just ordered the Tab A 8.0 it was $249->$199 + $9 delivery = $208

      • How'd you do that?

        • I went via the link above & then on the Big Lee store, I found the Tab A 8.0 for $249
I clicked on Buy It Now
on the Order page, near the bottom I entered Coupon COLLECT & applied
it took $50 off the price
          I selected Deliver ($9)

          Then I paid with PayPal

I think you sorted it out now? (I'm in Melb, so I guess that's in the delivery area)

  • Good price. I bought mine last year for $420, so this is almost as good.

    • Wow so the price for tab S2 holds well! On par with iPads.

      • +1

I think partly due to a drop in Aussie dollar so there was a price increase a few months ago.

      • Because the same kind of people buy samsung stuff that buy iphones.
People who don't really know technology and just buy something that everyone else has told them is good.
Samsung is effectively the brandname and loyalty that Sony had 15 years ago.

    • Me too less TRS. Excellent tablet, fast, light and great screen

      • Yep. Beautiful to use with my DJI Phantom 3 drone.

  • Bought one 9.7" - thanks.

Any suggestion on the tab cover?

Bought this smart case for my s2 last year, works well,

    http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/Smart-Lightweight-Stand-Case-Cover-for-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S2-8-0-9-7-Tablet-Sky-Blue-Galaxy-Tab-S2-9-/111773017767?nav=WATCHING_ACTIVE&skus=Colour:Sky%20Blue|Model:Galaxy%20Tab%20S2%209.7%20inch&varId=410764137436

  • How long does the battery last on these? My 3+ year old iPad mini that I won in a competition seems to last forever - 3 hour flight and it will still be over 95% left. However I'd like something with a bigger screen… And not Apple

  • -6

why is it so expensive for an ipad clone?

  • would this s2 be considered better than the tab s 10.5?
    reading mixed reviews online.

    • :P Depends what you consider as "better". 4:3 and battery life is probably going to be considered to be worse by many people (4:3 probably is more of a preference thing). Tab S2 is lighter and has better performance though.

I personally think it's better to wait at current stage, I am not sure whether Samsung has given up on 4:3 tablets, but Tab A 2016 edition which was released on May this year, was 16:10.
