The retail price in China is RMB149 (~A$31), for those who are interested.

    • +5

Correct. Unfortunately until Xiaomi sets up shop in Australia we will rely on resellers to buy from. Still a very feature rich product for the price.

      • +6

        These are presale prices.

Once they're on the market with no shortages they'll be around $30.

        • +3

I doubt that will be any time soon. These stores have to make a dollar somewhere and selling overseas and below retail doesn't sound like a money making plan.

        • +4

Give it a few months, probs like Sept-Oct we will see it drop in price when supply meets demand

        • -2

@PR0r: I didn't say anything about it being soon.

But I'll put a note on my calendar in 3 months to let you know.

        • Same thing happened with Mi band 1s. Soon after release, a lot of online shops such as GearBest were selling it for around $25 to $30 when its retail price in China was around $22.

        • @nd12: Xiaomi charge resellers higher prices on new products as the supply is very limited.

        • @PR0r: Well, after one week it's down $10 at this same listing…

EDIT Ah damnit, fooled by that tagged on geekbuying price.

      • -1

        *

    • +7

So we should move to China just to save that $23?

      • +3

Move? Nah just buy a plane ticket on AirAsia and save -$430ish lol. You only need to holiday, not migrate :)

    • If I were to go to China are there specific Xiaomi stores where I can buy the stuff (like an apple store) or do I need to go to an electronics store (like JB Hi Fi or something)

      • +1

You will buy online from taobao …

      • +1

        Or thier official online store

      • +1

They also have physical store presence in major cities, but they sometimes don't carry every item line. Electronics stores in China generally have Xiaomi phones but not the other items. As mentioned above the best way to get their stuff is to buy from the offical Tmall page, taobao sellers or the official website.

        • +2

When I went China, I tried looking for the Xiaomi stores… somewhat hard to find, didnt see much information online either. I gave up and just bought it from a reseller. Can you link the location of physical stores? I went to 10 different cities and kept an eye out for these stores… could not find it.

        • +2

@lux: As per darkage's comment this is the list of store in china: http://www.mi.com/c/xiaomizhijia/
I used to live in China and I tried to make my way to all the stores I possibly could and the one thing I found was that they were extremely hard to locate (i.e located on the 10th level in a office building). I went to the one in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing and then stopped going because it was just easier to buy the stuff I wanted online from their website. Only problem being to buy from there you will need a Chinese address and a Chinese back account or Zhifubao (Alipay).
I had originally though the the stores would have a similar feel to Apple stores, which they do to an extent, but they are more of a showroom to give you a feel of products for you to buy online. The one major plus for going down to the stores is that you can get them to laser engrave on to the power banks.

        • +1

@larryc: EDIT given we are talking about a store in China the locations have changed since I was there. My usual store was the Shanghai one and after looking at the website again http://www.mi.com/c/xiaomizhijia/shanghai.html, it seems they have moved into a shopping centre. The pictures also show a lot more items on the shelves (which again doesn't guarantee them selling them). If you are in Shanghai and interest I would definitely check it out!

      • +1

I'm pretty sure they have Xiaomi Stores in China, in HK (different xiaomi to China, new devices come late), I've been to one and it's like a mini Apple Store but with Xiaomi

      • +1

List of Xiaomi stores here - http://www.mi.com/c/xiaomizhijia/

You can check this link for a 360 view of a Xiaomi Store further down the page. http://www.mi.com/c/xiaomizhijia/shenzhen.html

Looks like a minilistic store that might not have everything in stock. The official website gives you the option of shipping to a local address in china.

You will need a chinese friend with you, since it will be a challenge to find it otherwise and would be easier to purchase online factoring the trouble.

Im currently in china, I'll see if I can make it to one of the stores this week. Wife is the tour guide :)

        • +1

Called up the Shenzhen MI Store this afternoon, after multiple phone attempts in the morning. Was mostly engaged or no pickup.

Asked store if they will have stock on Tuesday and will it be sold out if I don't turn up first thing when Store open ?

Got the response of, we dont have stock yet, its coming but not sure when or how many.

Then I asked if they had Mpad 2 64gig, they only have 16gb instore.

I think I'll visit the store, if they have it then good if not then at least I visited the store. (:

Easier to purchase online since person on the other end of the phone at the store was vague.

  • Looks great.

  • +3

I'll wait for the reviews and in my experience, Xiaomi product tend to have rapid price drop around 3-4 months after they launch the new one. Hopefully they improved the couping issue between band and core part.

  • "I received an email from geekbuying stating they are stocked and ready to ship tomorrow."

Aren't they going to be released June 7th?

    • Yea the 7th is correct. The email I received says they're now instock but website states 7th June. Not sure why I thought tomorrow was the 7th, my bad. :P

      • yep @ 10am on the 7th to be precise. The official website has the buy button greyed out atm.

  • Does anyone know if this has continuous heart rate tracking or not?

    • +2

1s doesn't do continuous heart rate. Given the battery life of 20 days, I very much doubt it.

      • that sucks. would totally sacrifice a few days of battery life for that.

        • +8

There is a app for android called Mi Band tools
you can monitor continuously or set a custom interval I have it set for every 10mins its been a week since i last charged it and the battery is on 66%

          https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak…

        • @waxed:

MI HR is an IOS app that does the same

        • @aldoduco:

Android house here, didnt know about the apple app. Happy to hear that they also have one

        • @waxed:
I would be wary of getting this new band and relying on Mi Band notify or Mi Band tools until offical support from the developers is out in case Xiaomi changed things enough to stop the apps from working.
After saying that these are great apps (i'm on android) for owners of the 1/1S!

    • From what I have seen in the press and Xiaomi's Twitter feed there wont be 24/7 continuos HR monitoring BUT it will activate during running like the 1S does with the Chinese version of the Mi Band software.

    • The device doesn't, but the 3rd party app, Mi Band Notification does enable it by signaling the Mi Band to take a heartbeat measurement every X minutes (you can set the interval) and the app records it down for you. The only downside is that your phone has to be in range of the Mi Band for measurement (not too much of a problem) and it drains your battery life quicker (both the Mi Band and your phone).

  • How are the reviews? Tempted.

    • Hi I did get a referral and signed up. My question is how do you actually get the funds back to your own bank account? The site is in USD all cashback are in USD. How do they pay you back?

      • Paypal or as amazon gift card with 3% bonus

  • Any reviews?

  • Keen. Will wait a couple of months though until reviews are out :)

  • +3

Cheaper at $29.99 at Aliexpress here : http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/New-Original-Xiaomi-…

Plus 7% Cashback from TopCashback and also $5 Amazon GC Bonus for new sign up.

    • Store hasn't been around long, only since April.
I've Been buying from Ali for awhile, I would be wary of it.

    • $29.99 at Aliexpress

Great price, but how reliable is the site and seller? How long it takes to ship to Sydney?

  • +3

gonna wait for price to drop and reviews first

    • +3

yeah I can wait a few months. before being motivated into starting my exercise routine .

  • -1

I got the version 1 of this, but the app was so awful I paid for a Fitbit. Fitbit understand what people want to see and how they want to engage MUCH better than Xiaomi and that in itself is worth more than the price difference. Xiaomi need to completely rethink the app to make buying this worthwhile.

    • +1

I got the v1 too and used the third party app which was fantastic. Much better than official app but also the band was much more useful than fitbit. There were many pros compared to fitbit but the biggest was battery for the band was amazing. Even after more than 1 year of daily use, the battery lasts more than 45 days. The fitbit does not even do a fraction of functions I need for 5 times the cost.

      • what third party app do you use? will it be compatible with this new Band-2 as well?
        Thanks

      • +1

Yeah, same here. I used Mi Band Notification instead of the official app. However, earlier this year, they updated the official app to include notifications. I now have both the 3rd party and official app on my phone. I prefer the official Mi Fit app, but because they still haven't added interval heartbeat measurement, I still have Mi Band Notification running side by side.

    • Can't you just sync the data to the google fit app.

      http://en.miui.com/thread-116968-1-1.html

      Is that a possible solution?

  • Just got my m1s bands a week ago x2 for $45 so I dun think I will jump on this

  • Search - which third party app you used ?

    • purchase the mi band tools

    • See my reply above regarding free apps. They are must have and free.

  • Hi. My order was cancelled for security reasons. they want me to provide them with my driver licence or passport copy. is it safe to provide them my details?
"We are sorry to inform you that we have to cancel your order for security reasons. To make sure your transaction is secure, please provide us with documentation by clicking My Appeal for further verification".

When we receive your documents, we will verify them within 3 business days. If the documents are valid, you can reorder on Aliexpress.

    Did anybody else got this?

    • +8

I will not trust a site asking your driver license or passport details.
      You are only buying items.

  • I had the Mi Band 1S and it's an absolutely great product, it stopped working after 9 months but it did fall off my wrist at basketball and hit the ground a few too many times! lol

I am wondering, how can i tell that the band is genuine and non-counterfeit?

Also is it easier to purchase in store, or online?

For what it's worth, there aren't many other devices at the $50 price point (although HN had the Huawei Talkband 1 for $46 … battery life was really really poor, hence I gave it a miss).

    • Now back to $39.99 USD (~$54 AUD)

  • For those who bite the bullet, did you go with geekbuying or aliexpress? I had terrible experience with Geekbuying before so a bit hesitated to go down that route again

    • I bought from geekbuying, seems more reliable than aliexpress (judging by online reviews not personal experience). And I chose Paypal 'pay on delivery' option.

    • I went with Geekbuying. Only one prior experience with them but it was good. I checked out Ali too but GB's purchasing experience was better - just sign in to PayPal and it was ordered.

  • I have Mi Band 1S. It's well made and reminds me of apple except it's great value. But the Mi Fit app (iOS) needs some work. It shows nothing in the detailed steps view for the current day, says '…just a sec' like it's updating but does nothing and the date in that part is out of wack. I've waited months hoping they will fix it. They do release periodic updates thankfully but the app really is letting their products down. If you buy from geekbuying use a junk email.

  • I really want this but am very weary about buying Xiaomi products as there are so many knock offs.

The store linked for AE is called Umiwe. Do we know if they are a genuine reseller?

  • +1

Do people play sport with these on?

    • +1

i do not know about this particular brand, but I see lots of people wear fitbits & garmin watches when they play general sports. but most football/soccer/basketball leagues will not let you wear them.

  • How does the warranty work with these websites? (yes I know it is a cheap item, but would still like to know)

  • Aliexpress, not to be trusted (depends on the seller you pick). Go read about reputation lol about as bad as buying from gearbest or other dodgy sites. Don't expect to get any reasonable customer service ha. Yes they have payment insurance but be careful which seller you pick.

  • I've ordered through AliExpress through a reseller called Xiaomi Home - can't vouch for their reliability compared to the other resellers, but just placed an order for $41.32 from this link:

Just received a delay notification due to high demand - will see how it goes from here..

      • me too - from Geekbuying. Kinda confusing, no promises about when it will ship, many apologies.

"there are several orders in front of yours have not be shipped yet. here I promise you that we will ship it as soon as possible"

  • So has anyone's Aliexpress order with Umiwe shipped yet?

    • +1

I ordered from MC Tech on the same day for $41.48AUD and mine shipped yesterday via Singapore Post. It's down to $40.90 now but they've had 3,000 orders! :-O

      • Dammit! Should have waited. Classic noon mistake.

    • No not yet :( and I paid for the $6 shipping

      • S31SOR and Steve-o let us know what you think of it after you have received it! Cheers

        • My order just arrived in Australia. Hopefully I'll receive it before the weekend :)

        • @S3ISOR: Well my Mi Band has gone MIA since it arrived in Australia on 16/06. AusPost is so slow these days. I was expecting it last week, but now this week is over I'm just crossing my fingers that it will arrive next week.

        • @S3ISOR: My Mi Band 2 is finally here… sort of. I missed delivery on Friday and it's waiting at the post office. I'll be picking it up tomorrow morning. AusPost is pretty slack, 3 weeks to delivery from Sydney to Queensland.

        • @S3ISOR: I picked mine up this morning. It looks great. It arrived turned on and half-charged. The band feels better than my original Mi Band, and it's overall smaller than I was expecting. Hopefully other people's orders are arriving soon too. Here's a few photos of how mine arrived: http://imgur.com/a/0ZWMe

        • @S3ISOR: Damn, still waiting for mine (original Aliexpress shipper).

        • @S3ISOR: Nice!

      • My order just got shipped

  • -3

anyone who wants to buy from an Australian based company and happy to pay extra, http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/product.php?id=419891

  • -2

Here's another one (black only) for ~$40 AUD shipped
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1000-pcs-arrive-Original-Xiao…

    • Why the negs? Am I missing something about the price? Does it increase once you get to checkout or something?

      • I havent negged, but it says zero available in your link, it also reads to me that you need to buy 1000 pieces.

  • Paid extra for DHL shipping from Geekbuying. The delivery date for stock has now been revised to the 30th of June in the mi band 2 listing. Mine hadn't shipped yet, so I chased it up with live chat, which were less than helpful.

  • Those who ordered at the start you guys are lucky as, buying for around $40-$50. The demand is so much the retailers have increased the price by more that $15-$20. I ordered mine yesterday at $66 from a chinese seller.

  • Geekbuying say mine has shipped, but no luck using the tracking number yet - I will try again in a day or two.

    • +1

Mine still shows as being in transit to Australia, and has been for a week. I am picturing it being on a small boat puttering past a jungle coast, the captain lying back under a straw hat with one foot on the tiller.

      • Still 'in transit to destination country' and has been for 3 weeks.
        THIS IS STRETCHING MY PATIENCE.

      • Arrived in the mail today, after being ordered on June 6th.

Last week, I told a mate I had ordered one, so he ordered one that same day. His came before mine.

  • Hi guys, anyone ordered this from aliexpress?
I ordered on 15th of June and on tracking website it says "The item information was created by the seller" and it hasn't moved since.

    • Same as you.

    • Finally starting to ship (with PostNL now).
