Based in Braeside (nearish moorabbin costco) for those that want to check out some decent TVs first ;). They semi regularly (last one a few weeks ago) have car park sales for quite a bit of stock. For those close by might be worthwhile checking out the refurb for those scratches etc before purchasing.

  • not wall mountable?

  • Considering shipping charger i would recommend pick up for people which live in VIC.

I got excited for a moment. Misread it as "Sony".

  • +2

One of the comments on this unit on the interwebs is that there was a lag between the video and audio which was sorted out with a firmware update. Presumably this would have been addressed when the units were refurbed.
Worth noting too that these are listed at $1799 on Soniq's website but for $1298 on JB's website, so the saving here is around $400.

for less than third of the price of the big brands thats quite tempting.

  • +1

    Cheap!

  • -1

    Astonishing price

  • -1

Can this run any Android app?

  • +1

Just worth mentioning that it's running Jelly Bean so it's not Android TV (or Google TV even) it's Android on the tv.

    • Custom rommable? :p

      • Customisable ROM ;-p

  • -1

    Any good for gaming?

    • Would imagine if they're anything like Hisense that there is considerable input lag when playing games

      • Lol Hisense, can you believe their 55" 4K TV has 200ms input lag, it's ridiculous.

    • +1

Please just buy a Sony if you want to do a lot of gaming, not worth experiencing the input lag of other sets.

  • What would the picture quality be like?

  • tempting, I've got 2 48" Soniqs and no complaints, one for TV one for gaming. On mine I did have to turn the red down quite a bit

  • Quality? Android aside (nothing a cheap Chromecast and similar can't better in time anyway) how's the quality on the TV itself? For 65" it's very cheap.

    Hate refurbs at any price.

  • Suggest everyone walk into a JB Hifi as their the major stockists and should have this model. I dont see Soniq running out of them anytime soon as they have been advertised for the past month or so at this price via their newsletter. I personally dont think it competes with the major top line brands but for 1/3rd the price I wouldnt expect it to. I would like to know dead pixel policy under their warranty terms and if soniq pay for returns etc.

    • +1

For all refurbished products SONIQ CONFIDENCE 18 Month Warranty

however dead pixel warranty is not specified in their warranty terms & conditions

    • The advertised SONIQ models for this price is 65" 1080P & 58" 4K…
      …this is 65" 4K
(Though I wouldn't personally but a refurb TV anyway)

    • Just note as per my post below, the one that's on JB's site @ $1298 seems to be a newer model, as it has a visually different stand, 100Hz and HDMI 2.0. Don't know if the internals have changed or not, but wouldn't buy this TV based on how that one looks.

      • They have this one on there aswell but is marked as out of stock , it's the same features but 3D.

  • I'd get the hisense 58" that's been on here the past few days if I was looking for a tv in this category.

    • Thinking of it, do you have one?

  • +1

Purchased a different tv recently from their EBay store and they were happy to double the warranty to 3years by simply just asking.

Worth a shot to call them or email for extra warranty on this tv

  • +8

Soniq refurbs are absolute garbage and their warranty support are difficult to deal with. If you're going to do Soniq you are much better off going into a JB Hi-Fi who will actually support the product.

They have given many OzBargain members the run around and quite frankly I am surprised that they are not banned.

No issues with the last refurb soniq deal

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/165427

      • +2

You're kidding! There were a few issues with that deal too

    • +1

Gawd I only got sorted out from this debacle in early 2016.

  • -1

    Smart TV lol!

  • Wow look at shipping cost to WA!

  • Was interested, but looking at the manual, doesn't look like there is HDMI 2.0, so no 4K 60Hz support over HDMI.

Also to note, the one for $1298 @ JB Hifi seems to be a model up, which (noticeably) has a different stand, is 100Hz and has HDMI 2.0.

Still a good deal for the price though!

    • Just google the model number it's not hard , this is on the website but been discontinued . It has 100ghz and 3D but only 1.4 hdmi

  • +4

    Had their TVs recently. Rubbish

  • Reviews say ok picture quality but has quite a few bugs which might have been fixed with updates by now , probably explains all the refurbs…

  • The deal ain't that good, its a refurb… you can go to any decent auction house and pickup a good tv for about the same price… i ended up getting a Sharp Aquos 60inch for around $900… cash and carry… very happy with it.

  • Nothing of the sort shows up on the link?

  • Would not having HDMI 2.0 make any other difference to this TV other than not being able to do 4K at 60hz?

  • Had to take this back. Audio was often out of sync on HD TV channels and HDMI inputs would stop working until it was restarted :/
