    6700K

    That's quite hot.

It is a model number not a temperature.

  • I wish futu would do a bundle pack (CPU,mb,ram) for some of these CPUs before this 20% off ends. The sale makes it cheaper but not by much in Melbourne. If I buy local and need a warranty claim or doa swap I just walk down the road. Posting back to futu will be time consuming.

    • works out well for Sydney people though who can probably just go into KS Computers

      • The deal is not too bad, great if you just need the processor. But some places have nice little combo deals that make it a little bit better if you need something a bit extra.

I would pick this up if I didn't already grab one up last week.

  • looks cheaper here, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Intel-Skylake-Core-i7-6700K-4-0Gh…

    $428-Delivered

why is it worth it too pay 16$ more?

    • +1

Kogan has a terrible rep for screwing up orders and such, Futu is Shopping Express and are pretty good (for next day delivery, etc).

      • serious question any one got a real story about kogan online being crap?

also this CPU was 372$ back in 25/3/2015, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/240544 - looks like there was a price hike since the last sale.

        • Wait til you look at the performance numbers and realise it's not noticeably faster than $300 CPUs from 2011…

@mgowen: maybe wait till zen, still rocking [email protected]

  • AU stock is good, but if you need RMA, do you send it back to futu, or deal with Intel?

  • 1070/1080's too expensive for majority of people unless you like spilling your money down the drain, end of June the AMD RX480 will come out half the price and it will come close to the 1070's in terms of performance and a powerful card which is VR ready. Only time will tell if it's the truth.

    • True. It looks to be the card to beat in value. But AMD's catalyst drivers are not as good as nvidia's. And their TDP and temps are not as efficient.

It's hard to argue with price though.

It remains to be seen how much $200 translates to in Aussie price, and how much Aussie tax they add to it. I would guess maybe $350-400.

  • Can anyone please recommend a heatsink/fan for this CPU? .. (I am not going to overclock)

    • +1

Save your money and get the non k with heatsink, maybe just saying

      • Thanks for response, and a fair point, but considering that the price difference (after tax deducting) isn't very big, and then also re-selling in future - I'd imagine the K CPU will be worth a little bit more.
So still after a HSF recommendation for this one :)

        • You planning to use this CPU for gaming only or media creating also?

Do you have a price limit?

        • @spriggan43:
Will be using it for running multiple virtual machines (vmware workstation) .. no real price limit, but don't want to spend more than required … especially considering won't be OC'ing. Would like the fan to be quiet as possible though.
