          @striker5950:

Then you need to read news sites with more knowledgeable authors. If PCs costing over a grand can't do solid 4K at 60fps, it should be obvious that the PS4 Neo was never going to do 4K gaming (just 4K video). Every site I've read has stated this since the rumors started.

    • if it does not play games at 4k than what is the point

So it can run games at higher than 30FPS…? If it already played all games at 1920x1080@60FPS, I'd agree with you. But considering the vast majority of games seem to run at only 30FPS (and a lot of those at lower resolution as well?) then this is what the PS4 should have been to begin with.

      • then this is what the PS4 should have been to begin with.

Exactly. Developers have apparently been whinging to Sony and MS that the current generation is too under-powered.

  • +4

Thanks for sharing. Just bought the PS4 bundle for $399 (and Diablo 3 for $29). Will pick up in store today. Excited!!

  • spoke to jb hifi and the XB1 1tb with 5 games is that price for 1 week but the ps4 is on sale for today only.

  • Also GoPro 4 silver edition for $399. Been cheaper but decent price for someone looking

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/cameras/video-cameras/gopro/gopro-…

  • i would deffiently wait for after e3 all the consoles will get a massive price drop aswell wouldnt be surprised if ps4 and xbox one are sub $299

    • +3

i doubt we will see this price till around Christmas..

      • Especially on the 1TB console.

        • you would be surprised

        • +3

@nnolan: I would be surprised if 1TB PS4s were sub-$299 indeed. Very surprised.

        • @theguyrules: yes very surprised

        • +1

@theguyrules: me too. I remember when PS4 was first launched PS3 500gb price was around $399. Took it 3 years to drop to $199 at Target clearance? $299 for a PS4 1tb will take at least 1 year from the daye Neo is launched IMO.

      • Xbox One is $299 (with 3 games) in the upcoming Big W toy sale. PS4 (500GB) is going to be $378.

        • Yeah the PS4 Deal is for 500GB PS4 + 3MT Stan $379 so $20 more here and you get Brand new Game, limited edition console and 1TB, not sure if the XB1 Is 500GB Or 1TB From Big W but $299 with 3 games is good although pretty old games

        • @TRENT86:

Don't know why people keep saying the fact it's "limited edition" is a good point. It's ugly and tacky as hell. Certainly not something I'd want sitting in my living room. Maybe if it was in a cabinet hidden.

        • @PainToad: Opinions are a beautiful thing.
          I reckon it looks awesome.

        • @theguyrules:

Wish I did. It does look better in the videos, more blue than grey.

        • +1

@PainToad: Meh, I wont even be looking at it anyway, it'll be laying down in my cabinet. The controller is the only way I'll see the colour.

        • @theguyrules: exactly.

        • When is this toy sale? Thank you.

    • +5

If you think the limited edition Uncharted 4 console will be cheaper than this post-E3, you're the moron.

      • -7

        wanna bet on it ?

The dumbest dummies would buy a PS4 or XB1 atm.

U literally would have to be a moron a few days before E3.

Anyone who buys a PS is a total idiot atm

        • +4

Yes, chances are I'll bet on it with my own money by buying one of these today.
Clearly we have different definitions of idiot, anyway.

        • +1

You literally just said the same thing, jog on mate.

        • lol, you buy one now, and wait till E3, than you can sell it on ebay for a profit or just return it unopened for the same amount, how is that being an idiot?

        • Come on, man. You can't go around with blanket statements calling everyone "moron", "total idiot", and (my favourite) "dumbest dummies" when your own posts are so barely literate.

    • This bundle has been reduced by $100, I don't see how it could go any lower.

  • This is a good deal on the PS4 bundle. Personally think the color looks great however will hold out for the Neo as I know even if it costs more, I'll probably wish I bought that instead.
No point having 2 PS4s around.

    • +2

Put them on top of each other and have a PS8?

    • +9

You would have been auto-revoked due to so many negative votes, no one considers your opinion to be even remotely useful or worthwhile.
Also the PS4 isn't the only deal in this post, so even if you don't like the PS4 price, it doesn't make the whole deal 'dogshit'.
You're getting way too aggressive over a PS4 man. Chill.

    • +2

      whats wrong with you?

    • And you're going to get penalty-boxed. Good on you, mate.

For the record, the mods didn't remove your neg vote, other users did, by downvoting your ridiculous comments.

    • The Panny was the reason I gave the +1.

500 off is a freaking huge deal for a brand new (2016) and brand-name (Panasonic) tv, and taking the extra 5% off makes it even more enticing. Bargain!

  • Must. Wait.
    PS4.5

  • +1

    Didn't Wait. Bought. Thanks OP!

  • +3

Picked one up from Epping, Vic. The guy said he had been getting calls all morning. Also asked him about cheap games and he said he could dramatically reduce most pre-owned titles. I grabbed a few including

    COD AW - $20
    The Order - $5
    Kill zone - $20
    Infamous second son - $20
    Just Cause 3 - $25

    Happy with my purchases overall!

  • Also EB said they wouldn't price match as they would be losing $80 on it

    • EB at Doncaster VIC said they don't price match console deals… I was hoping to get a "manager's discretion" offer for the black console… ahh well

  • Where's a Target Clearance when ya need one?! Their $499 1TB + Uncharted 4 deal and their 500GB for $429 are blown away by EB and now JB…

    • I submitted a product enquiry on the Target website, highlighting the need for a clearance… no response so far, sad face…

Also went in store (Doncaster VIC) and asked if store manager can use discretion for a deal, but was told nope, all clearance stuff gets dictated by head office…….

So very very tempted to get this JB deal, it's good, just have that itching feeling a 500GB clearance will happen soon… unfortunately I left my crystal ball in my other pants

      • The problem will be finding 500GB in stock at Target.

        • True, but there's a few around and at these prices I don't see them going anywhere……. I like that race in on clearance sale day to see if I'm a lucky one :)

      • +1

        You have crystal balls?

  • Do you guys own both xbox one and ps4 or just the one console?
I have never owned both at same time been a fan of both ps and xbox over years and just went whatever suited at the time.
I have been a xbox 360 and xbox one of late with xbox one only purchased nov last year.
Have went mental buying games but yes reduced/clearance etc so all good, and like all consoles i get end up with tons of games then a newer better model comes out.
I got xbox one being a being a previous xbox360 fan and xbox one backwards compatable.
Been missing from the Playstation for a number of years now.
But been tempted to have one also but any point?
As they both come out with pretty much the same games?
Having just got a sony 65 tv and all the other sony bits im tempted on this but means instead of just buying xbox games im buying Playstation too which becomes a very expensive hobby.
What currently does the Playstation have over the xbox one etc.
And i hear you guys say new Playstation what does this have from current one or dont we know?
And is there new xbox one? No…
If so what does that have over current model as only got it nov last year grrr.
Yes a bit late but no way would upgrade that.
500gb model be ok as a ps4 as a second console if cheap but as said dont like the idea of buying other console games more so the cost of the bloody things.

    • Google:
      * PS4 exclusives
      * PS4 Neo
      * Xbox One Slim
      * Xbox One Scorpio

and all your questions will be answered.

      • +1

        I better not i think

    • +1

I have PC, XBox one, and now a PS4.
I'll buy exclusives that I'm interested in on either console, but otherwise pretty much all games I buy for PC. Yeah it's an expensive hobby, but whatever.

  • Presto lol!

  • +1

Neo doesnt replace ps4. So prices will not go down just up on the neo.

    • -3

Neo replaces the PS4. So prices will go down and the Neo will be priced at the current RRP.

See, I can randomly state thing neither of us actually know, as fact too.

      • Are you stuck on repeat?

        • -3

          Are you stuck on repeat?

      • See, I can randomly state thing neither of us actually know, as fact too.

If we're going to talk about facts, neither of us know for "fact" a Neo even exists. Sony have not said a word on it. All you have is hearsay. But the same hearsay that reported its existence also reported that the Neo will not have any exclusives, so your PS4 will continue to play every game it would have if the Neo never existed.

        That's how useful 'facts' are.

  • +3

Its really simple guys and explained in the earlier comments. Buy this PS4 now, dont open it and return for refund if E3 reveals a price drop. The neo will be great for VR but the update to current and future ps4 games will probably just make it so you can play at locked 30fps/60@1080p, maybe better AA and texture res and or pop. They will not add all these extra gfx features from one version to another and alienate ps4 owners..

  • +1

pc advisor uk site says october launch hmmm not sure i can wait that long to play uncharted 4

  • Finally pulled the trigger. dude at jb also price matched rainbow 6 for $29 and Fifa 16 for $39. I also asked him to chuck in one year online for free. He said no. No harm asking though amirite?? hell yeah I'm right!

  • +1

I got one and I am pretty happy with my purchase. I dont want to wait for NEO and then wait for it to come down during the rumors of ps5 launch. Feeling contended guys

  • I can't believe I'm not buying this due to the fact that I hate the colour. Such a first world problem lol…

    • omg same haha, its looks really bad the colour

      • Honestly looks way better in the flesh, would recommend looking at one if you can.

        • I managed to have a look at the standalone controller. Still not sold on the colour.

  • Sorry for noob question. But will the future VR be compatible with current gen PS4?

    • Yes, but it will need an expensive addon (Neo may too, or may not) and will not run as smoothly.

      • An expensive add-on? Erm..nope.
        PlayStation VR is plug-and-play with a PS4

  • Should i get one? Will they stop making selling games for the ps4 as im so late in getting one and others coming out.
I got xbox one cause its backward compatible on 360 games which i own heaps of as for ps4 dont have any games for it or older Playstation games.

    • The rumor is all future PS4 games must work with the current hardware. The issue is, future games may running at lower fps and resolutions on the older (current) model.

  • PS4 1TB + Uncharted 4 game $389 @ Costco (not limited edition + require membership

    • It begins.

      • Hmmm. Tempting

    • really?? what to do if you dont have a membership, or can you get it and than cancel and get money back?

      • I think so…use it for a year and cancel it just b4 it expires and get the membership fee back.

Also can return the console and the game if u dont like it and want to upgrade to neo later

      • I canceled same day when I found there was nothing worth buying. They give immediate refund but put you on a 2 year ban from making a new Costco membership.

    When this happens, wake me:

    • $250 or less for a regular console; no lame game editions
    • curves in the box design, not Generation 1 School Of Blockyness design from the 80s
    • At least 40 top-selling titles for me to pick up from virtually anywhere for $20 each or less

    Thank you Sony

    • You better keep dreaming then

      • +1

        You better keep dreaming then

You don't know much about console history, do you?
No need to dream about certainties.

        Happened to PS2.
        Happened to PS3.
        Happened to xbox 360.
        Happened to Wii.

All reduced sub $250 (well under) with a crapload of cheap good games under $20.

Early Adopter Taxes are no fun. Especially with Generation 1.
        That rhymes.

        • +2

yeh thats ok if you would like to play ps4 games when the ps5 is out, because thats when you will be seeing those prices

        • yeh thats ok if you would like to play ps4 games when the ps5 is out, because thats when you will be seeing those prices

All the bean-counters need is a signal that sales are slowing down & they'll price accordingly. This happens well before a new generation model is on sale

        • All reduced sub $250 (well under) with a crapload of cheap good games under $20.

Just curious.. what are the dates (roughly) when these happened?

        • Just curious.. what are the dates (roughly) when these happened?

PS3 - well under $250 in 2011. It probably happened earlier, who knows for sure?
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55913
So people had to wait for the first Slim model to get those prices. As far as I know it didn't go this low with the Phats but I could be wrong. At this point in the PS3 lifecycle, the PS3 really cut down on power consumption compared to the phat models. So that's another hidden saving, especially with electricity costs being what they are now.

          Wii - about $100 bucks in 2011 (along with $250 PS3)
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55399
I'm pretty sure that Wii hit the 250 price years earlier than the PS3. It was far cheaper to make. I bought mine for $99 in Kmart in 2011 (the model with no gamecube ports). It probably hit 250 years earlier. Anyway, bargain.

XBOX 360…too tired to look it up. But it was similarly priced to the PS3 most of the time, as far as I remember. These were really competing neck-and-neck.

Plus there were additional savings in the second-hand market at this point too; heaps of second-hand controllers and units available. If you compare these prices to release prices, it's an absolute slashing of price; hardware and software.

        • @cheepwun:

So.. about 5 years then. Enjoy your PS4 in 2018.

        • So.. about 5 years then. Enjoy your PS4 in 2018.

          Will do.

The PS4 refresh is upon us this year.
The XBOX One refresh is upon us this year.

          I don't regret not buying Generation 1.

A discount on existing models may be coming sooner than you think. Silly early adopters get the short end of the stick (as usual) while paying the highest prices for hardware and software. Hundreds of dollars could have been saved in both hardware and software costs by waiting (in other words, they could have bought another console with the savings, or more games). For some people, buying early is worth it. For me, no chance. I have a backlog of games I have yet to try from the PS3 and XBOX 360 so there is no pressing concern to have the latest and greatest.

Let them refine it. Let the games choice get bigger. Let them discount it. Then buy.

        • @cheepwun: That's fair enough.

Are you going to buy a discounted gen 1 console, or are you going to wait for Neo/Scorpio to drop to that discounted price? It's a pretty long waiting game, because when Neo drops to $250, there'll be a Neo 2 or PS4.75, and then you'll want that, and meanwhile your backlog from PS3/360 will extend to PS4/X1 games that you didn't play because you were still playing your PS3 backlog.

        • Are you going to buy a discounted gen 1 console, or are you going to wait for Neo/Scorpio to drop to that discounted price?

Right now I am not interested in Generation 1 at all. But that's not to say at the right price I won't be tempted. I just tend to like the refinements that usually happen with Generation 2 hardware.

It's a pretty long waiting game, because when Neo drops to $250, there'll be a Neo 2 or PS4.75, and then you'll want that

I don't wait forever. I just wait until pricing is reasonable. There is very little tech lust involved in new generation hardware (to me). But I tend to think Generation 1 is almost always the most crude, most rushed, most unrefined the public gets. All that pressure to make that release time window while they battle it out with their competitor(s) and go for the Christmas sales rush.

With my (slim) PS3 I went crazy buying countless <$20 best-seller games years after they were hot stuff. Many still unopened. A lot of these re-packaged 'best sellers' get any patches they need too, which is nice to just play & go. I will probably do the same with the PS4.

    • curves in the box design

Since when does it matter what box it comes in?

      • Since when does it matter what box it comes in?

was referring to the boxy design of the console; ugly as sin. This wasn't my main point though (and everyone has different tastes)

        • +1

Sorry man - misunderstood. I can't say I'm a huuuge fan of the design either. Doesn't bother me all that much though.

  • +2

My son is still enjoying playing cod black ops on the ps4 I bought in the target deal for $315 earlier in the year. This is a great deal though being 1tb and with a top game.

  • Would be greatly appreciated if anyone has a spare 5% code

  • On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence, On the fence…

    • Does your bum hurt?

      • Yeah it did, so did my wallet. I ended up passing on this deal because apart from Uncharted there really isn't anything compelling and the games I wanted to play aren't out till next year anyway. I'll wait for the fire sale around Christmas time. Then I can make an informed decision.. upgrade my PC to Zen or get a PS4 whichever variant is worth getting.

  • Bought the ps4 to replace my launch unit. Will just keep it sealed and return for refund if the 4k is announced at E3!

    • you bought a second one? and here we are contemplating if we should by our first..

      • Well the launch unit is quite loud and I'm always running out of storage, would rather get a new one at this price with the warranty etc than replace my launch hard-drive so not as bad as it sounds haha

    • What if it's not announced at E3 but still releases in Oct?

You going to hold on to it until Oct?

      • If it's not announced at E3 I will hang onto it and sell my launch unit as I figure once the Neo is eventually announced launch unit value will fall whereas this new one should hold price better
