For those who missed the previous deal. This would be the better deal with $15 cheaper.

21 book boxset of the classic editions with unchanged text and Eileen A. Soper's original illustrations, featuring Julian, Dick, Anne, George and not forgetting Timmy! There's a shipwreck off Kirrin Island! The Famous Five are on the trail looking for clues to the treasure - but so is someone else. Time is running out for the Five…

I think this deal is worth mentioning in a separate thread. This is the cheapest that I could find…

Good to read with lashings of ginger beer…

Damn! I was going to put that!

If the progressive leftists have their way, these books will be banned in school and public libraries and replaced with books like 'The Gender Fairy' and 'All of Us'.

Please enlighten me, what makes these books right wing?

      • Who said they are?

    • +3

Oh no, but what ever shall we do about Enid Blyton's other series Noddy, which those on the right think contains undertones in his relationship with Big Ears.
      Any more sensationalism?

While this set says its unchanged many of her books have been edited for the modern reader. Personally I have the originals of her stories from many years ago and just explain to the kids how some words and ideas have changed and evolved over time.

      • Just started reading through and I can confirm that the text has indeed been changed from the originals. Names seem to be the same, but the most noticeable change has been queer to peculiar/odd/etc, and a few odd things like shorts to jeans.

  • My favourite recurring line from these books is:

"You're a real prick Julian", said Anne.

    I think I am remembering that correctly…

only one typo away from becoming a NSFK (not safe for kids) story

Would anyone honestly pay RRP $300?

    • I assume they must be counting the cost of buying all the books seperately, which at about $15 each would come to about $300. Kind of false advertising though as Ive never seen this set going anywhere for more than about $80.

In store only? That's a PITA. I was going to buy these for my interstate niece, but I don't want to go and pick them up then have to deal with shipping myself - what is this, the 90's?

Only $8.50 cheaper and your deal is without postage. Do you even math?

  • The Peter Rabbit set is great value too at $50!

  • Can you click and collect? Looks like a great deal although I was always more of a secret seven fan myself.

Secret Seven collection for $50 too on the same page of the catalogue.

Damn you ozbargain! $100. Plus the cost of the shelving. Eh totally worth it.

  • No Famous Five at Mt Ommaney QLD this afternoon. Plenty of stock of the others though.

  • I saw this set at Aldi just today, didnt check price though.

  • Its an amazing price and a fantastic deal. Hopefully its available in your local store…

  • OMG. 10 year old me wanted the entire set more than anything. I've still got a few of them (the ones with photos from the 70's TV series on the cover), but I don't think I ever read all of them.

Trivia: Gary Russell (who played Dick on the TV Series) now lives in Australia :)
