Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones Black / Silver $449 @ Apollo Hifi & Audio Trend

490

Stumble on this deal today from Apollo Hi-Fi (283 Victoria Rd, Marrickville NSW 2204)

Bose QC35 Black or Silver for $449 is 10% off from Bose Store RRP $499 + around $20 delivery to Melbourne. However if you live in NSW this is a pretty sweet deal if you are happy to pick it up from their store.

OzBargain user: "breaknout" yesterday found a better deal from Audio Trend (10 Argent Place, Ringwood VIC)

Sweet. I know this just came out but I've already set a target of $400.

    • +1

My target is under $300, optimistic I know. I have QC25 and and QC20 already.

      • +1

under $300, so you can claim on tax return as 'work related expense' straight without depreciating. Old trick.

        • Wait what ? Can you please elaborate ?
I bought the QC25 for $369 so am out of luck I suppose. But for future reference.

    • +1

Buy them and claim TRS and you'll nearly achieve that

  • Bose would have seen how much Beats can retail for and follow the same pricing structure.

    • +1

These are significantly better than beats as well

    • Somehow I cannot see Bose teaming up with the producer (and rapper) of tracks such **** the Police, Real N***** Don't Die, Find 'Em, F*** 'Em and Flee and How to Suck a Good **** to promote these either.

  • +1

I just got 2x QC25 for me and my misses :( Paid 369 for one and 320 for the other but still… I want the latest!

    • Maybe you can try to refund them. If you bought in bose store, they offer 60 day refund with no questions asked.

      • Got then from jb and Myers. Already used them a bit so… Oh well

  • +11

Tried them instore. They blocked out so much of the crowd sound, even without playing any music!

    • thats exactly why I want to get the bose. shame my budget can only stretch to qc25.

    • +1

      Great for parents.

    • +2

Agreed, I was pretty much sold on the QC25s until the Bose sales rep brought out of hiding a set of QC35s from hiding last week and let me have a listen.
The audio improvements on the old one were really noticeable to me.

    • I received mine two days ago from Apollo Hifi and after almost 15 hours of use, I can legitimately say that these pair of cans are definitely worth it.Its portability allowed me to just keep my headphones on all the time and its noise cancellation was amazing from my daily commute.

I do still own a QC25 but the wires were always a burden specially when I commuted everyday.

  • +1

I got QC15 for myself and QC25 for my fiance. Served us really well, especially on the plane.

  • Is it better than Sony MDR-100ABN? I've heard Sony has improved their NC performance.

Own both QC25(A$300) and Sony MDR-1RNC (MKII, got for A$350). QC25 is much lighter with less background noise when noise cancelling is on, but Sony one has better sound quality.

    • +15

You don't buy the Bose for sound quality. You buy it for noise cancelling

      • Totally agree! when considering NC, Bose is the best in the market. miles ahead the other NC stuff, including Sony.

      • +2

if you need quality Buy Other Sound Equipment :)

I agree with the noise cancelling, the NC and comfort of the Bose is unparalleled, you can wear them for an entire flight with no issues.

    • +2

I've checked out reports on both the Sony MDR-100ABN and the BOSE Q35s. The consensus is that the Sony's come very, very close to the BOSE but still not quite there when it comes to noise reduction.

However, some people are finding the Sony noise reduction is a bit more comfortable than that used by BOSE (less of vaccum effect on the ears that some people including me find uncomfortable after extended use).

But the SONY's MDR-100s are highly regarded for their BT sound quality and do have hi res audio capabilities with their BT offering - something the BOSE do not. Not a deal killer for most but is the reason why I went with the SONY's when I made my purchase today (20% off for Sony Headphones at JB Hi Fi).

Should also point out that bymac australia also have the BOSE QC35s for $448: http://www.buymac.com.au/product/bose-qc35-quietcomfort-35-w…

  • +1

Nice! I live right near the Ringwood store!
Thanks for the tip I have been looking to see who would price down.

  • +6

Get Bose to Pricematch for $449 and if you have AMEX you can save another $30 per $100 transaction (once per merchant). Could be a saving of $30.

    Brings it down to $449 - $30 = $419.

    Amex Deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/252728

    • Have you price matched at a Bose store before?

      • +3

Just did this in the Sydney store no problems. Called up and they had no issues price matching. While I was picking up my set just now overheard the salesman on the phone to another customer saying the same.

        • which Sydney store please? Do i need to call up first and request for price match? cheers

        • @OZGE:

Price matched for Q25s at CBD Westfield today no problem $339.15 for black Aiming for TRS as well. Would like to the Q35s but have to restrain myself. I also got a free apple cable because they only that version in stock and I use android. Tried to pricematch in Myer but in a rookie move showed them the price first and the dude came back saying they were out of stock.

      • +1

Yes, and the Sydney store were fine to split the payment over a few Amex cards as well!

        • which Sydney store please? Do i need to call up first and request for price match? cheers

        • +1

@OZGE: Sydney Westfield Bose store - walked in, tried them out then mentioned the price match ($449) and they were fine to do it.

        • @SkyHeron: is that the one at Level 6 Westfield? do they still have stock? cheers

        • +1

@OZGE: Yes, above the food court. They had stock when I was there around 12:30 today. Suggest you call them up to check stock levels - this model was released today.

        • +1

          @OZGE:

I bought one at close of business yesterday, so yes still in stock.

They will price match only Sydney shops so show them Apollo (Marrickville) rather than Audiotrends (Melbourne).

Can split across Amex too :)

    • +2

Tried to price-match AudioTrends at the Bose Melbourne Emporium they would not do it :(

      • Whhaaaa? That sucks :(

        • The salesman insisted this is a new release and after telling him Sydney was price-matching, he defended himself by saying AudioTrends showed it was a pre-order and that his QC35 units were available "now".

        • @gdoubleu:
Aw.. almost went there at lunchtime. Thanks for saving my time. Sucks though, I guess we'll have to wait til they are back in stock?

UPDATE: Eh, wait? It now says in stock? This morning did say "pre-order"

        • +3

          @lyon:
Just got it PriceMatched at the Bose St Kilda store. The guy there did mention that it's odd for any store to discount QC35 like this, so early after release. But he was more than happy to price match.

          Those in Melbourne, enjoy… :)

        • @lyon:

Very good! I'll try my luck again at the Emporium now that it's in stock at AudioTrends.

        • +1

          @gdoubleu:

They now pricematch @ Bose Emporium Melbourne – $449 for a pari of QC35. They can also split payment over credit cards as reported above. Another saving of $120 ($30 * 4).

          Enjoy!

    • +2

Thanks bennib0i, Peetah, SkyHeron, I managed to score one at killer price!! Sydney Bose priced matched + Amex $30 credit x2 split payment + TRS refund = $449/1.1 - $30x2 = $348!! couldnt be happier!! The sale rep i have spoken to is call Ross, give him a call he is happy to price match, he told me they have sold at least 40 units just on day 1 today!!

      • Nice ozbargaining! I assume there is no issue getting TRS back when splitting the invoice over 2 credit cards? Do you just nominate which CC to be refunded?

    • Does Supplementary cards get $30 back as well or just one account per card?

  • Remember Bluetooth has a slight audio delay, so when you watch video, you'll either have to use them in "wired mode" or adjust the audio sync on your video app.

    • +3

maybe in the old days of wireless, but not now. i have the wireless bose non noise canceling, works great with no delay

      • Nothing at all? I stand corrected.

That's a shame, as now I might have to buy these…… And I already own the qc25s and qc20s.

        Bose is an expensive habit.

        • +1

Yeah, that too was a concern of mine before i bought my bose soundlink wireless, but they are perfect. only thing is now i want these with noise canceling but the ones i have now are under a year old so cant really justify it.

        • +2

I'd double-check the 'no delay' thing. Tm15's 'no delay' might not be the same as yours. My headphones and transmitter both use the aptx low-latency codec. This brings latency down to about 30 msec, which is not discernable to most people. If either the transmitter or the headphones do not use that codec, latency is 100ms or more. Some might not notice it. Some will. I don't want to argue with Tm15 or anyone else. Just do your research first if latency is important to you. Of course, there might be some proprietary Bose thing involved… I don't have Bose.

  • +1

Noob question does wireless mean a reduce in sound quality? I'm looking at wireless as all the wired headphones I buy end up dying.

    • +1

It also works as wired, they provide a cable. And yes I think there's a slight reduction in sound quality on wireless.

    • +1

Probably not noticeable unless you're a self professed audiophile

  • If watching inflight movie, can the plane audio jack be used with some pairing device to make it wireless.

    • I'm guessing a Bluetooth transmitter would work.

Something like the Avantree Saturn Pro

    • +1

You can get battery powered "bluetooth audio transmitters" (Google will give you a few options) that will do the trick.
Personally I would use the QC35s with the included audio cable and plane audio adaptor for this situation due to longer battery life and one less gadget to carry (and loose).

      • +1

and not forgetting that bluetooth is a radio transmitter so not allowed to be used on an aircraft. will need to use the included cable

  • Any idea where in Melbourne I can test listen to the QC25 and QC35 headphones? I'm on the fence between latest and greatest, and cheaper :)
I'm guessing JB Hifi or the sort might be an ideal location?

    • Bose shop @ 336 La Trobe street or St Kilda or Camberwell would be your best bet. Alternatively, JB & Myer all would have a demo available for you. Sticking with QC25 for now until there is a pressing need to upgrade ;-)

edit: colleague just told me that there is one in emporium too.

      • Awesome, thanks for the info.

        • I popped by the Bose in Emporium today. They have all the models on display and for trying on. Very helpful customer service too.

  • +1

Buymac is also selling it at the price of $448 in their online and ebay store. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bose-QC35-QuietComfort-35-wireles… With ebay 15 off 100 voucher and cashrewards, you can get it for the price of 448+11-15-4= 440

  • Cheers OP.

When I was looking at getting the QC25 - these bad boys came out within the week! Going to try and get them asap.

  • But I wear glasses dammit…

    • The qc30 might be just what you need in that case

  • I got a westfield gift card so checking which of the Bose Westfield stores have stock.

  • +1

Thanks bennib0i, Peetah, SkyHeron, I managed to score one at killer price!! Sydney Bose priced matched + Amex $30 credit x2 split payment + TRS refund = $449/1.1 - $30x2 = $348!! couldnt be happier!! The sale rep i have spoken to is call Ross, give him a call he is happy to price match, he told me they have sold at least 40 units just on day 1 today!!

    • 2 different cards?

      • Yes two different Amex cards, ask them for split payments. would be better if split over 4 Amex card lol

        • +2

          That's what I did! :)
          $449 + payment over 4 AMEX cards (-$120) plus TRS = 449-120-40.81= $288 :)

Just note: Sydney Bose will only match Sydney stores so don't use Audiotrend. Have to use Apollo Hifi which is based in Marrickville.

          Good luck!

        • @DKC: Still cheaper at $250 with staff discount.

  • +1

Awesome, just picked up 2 for $440 each (minus AMEX, minus TRS).

Without me even mentioning pricing let alone a price match, he told me he could do them for $450 each.
Then as i was checking out, he wished me happy holidays and said he will just make it $440 each!

Will replace mine and my fiance's 2 QC25's, one of them not even used!

Split over 4 AMEX payments and then TRS too!

    • So you have 8 AMEX cards to use 4 times for each?

  • So is the noise cancelling better then on QC25?

    • i say it is slightly better, but the audio sounds much better in my opinion, wider soundstage and more dynamic… although it still cant compare to my B&O H8 :) but the its Noise cancelling is best!!

  • Does anyone know if Myer is likely to price match? If they can do them for $450 then I'd prefer to pick them up there as I've got some CBA credit card points I can put towards them, otherwise I might try Bose Pitt St price match + AMEX $30 credit.

  • Are you able to split AMEX payments twice or three times on the same one AMEX card? Or is it just once per retailer per card? Would love to just do 3 x $100 transactions on one card to take advantage of $90 off.

    • It's once per merchant unfortunately. So you would need two or more AMEX cards and have them all registered with the $30 off 100 promo.

  • Any qc20 deal?

    • Worth checking at Bose store. The guy there did mention they had a deal on the QC20. But as I was there to just pick up QC35, didn't ask for details on that one.

  • -2

Got them for $330 after Amex and I have to agree with what's been said so far: it's comfortable, has great noise cancelling but the sound quality is sub par. Noticeably worse than my $200 Plantronics Backbeat Pros. Guess the acronym "Buy Other Sound Equipment" wasn't just a joke after all.

  • Anyone did pricematch at Sydney city BOSE store recently?
