  • Was interested in this but it really depends on how long the promotion is for

Just remember that their year has 13 months

Good deal if you tick all the boxes in being a customer who is willing to take a risk and not need a lot of customer support. Past deals with Lycamobile have been flamed so YMMV https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/180214

  • $15 - Unlim/Unlim/5GB

    Can't find that?
Also is that just one off 50% discount ie one month only, or forever?

    • It's "All in One 29". One month only of course.

  • Last time I signed up to their 50% off promotion it was gone within a month. Would only sign up again if I knew a definitive end date.

  • The description of the plans above doesn't match what's on the site.

    • Looks fully matching now.
Kudos to hamza23 & JSQUARED for contributions.

Pretty sure this is for the first month only.

    OP, kindly update deal description.

I don't know if this is one, but speaking generally, I am amazed that anyone swallows first month 50% off sucker bait. That is, unless you want one month's worth of something.

But OzBargainer's take the bait and then swim away

Calls to 13XXXX and 18XXXXX numbers are chargeable. No way to send or receive MMS (picture messages) and also last time I was with them there was no way to tether with a wifi hotspot. And to top it all off the customer service was probably the worst I have dealt with. Deal breaker for me.

    • Yeah it was so much fun trying to copy security code from an SMS, then going to a Telstra MMS site, typing in your phone number and trying to paste the security code, all so you could see a tiny, shitty pic from an MMS that had been sent to you. ..

Think very carefully if you want to port your number in. I took up this offer last week and the SIM card arrived pretty quickly. The 50% bundle was given as a recharge code by email that you are supposed to activate - which I think would work if you are using it against a brand new number issued by Lyca.

I made a port in from another provider which also worked within 2 hours or so. Then when I tried to activate this bundle code IT DID NOT WORK. I had made countless calls trying to resolve the bundle activation issue (to great frustration as you'll imagine), and the staff seemed to have difficulties dealing with these 50% off recharge codes, as they are all hooked to the assigned lyca mobile number with the SIM card (which gets overriden by the porting in). Some of their staff told me they are getting high volumes of calls due to this issue, which amplifies the problems in trying to contact them.

This now puts me in a situation where I could not even make any calls or SMS unless I put in more money - not good at all.

This is exactly why I was a bit reluctant to post this deal until I'm reasonably convinced that it would work. Anyway, now that the deal is up already I'll just have to state my experience here for you to decide whether you should take the risk or not.

    • Hopefully, with large amount of users experiencing that issue, they will make their programmers fix the issue sooner than later…

      • I believed they had to resolve my case manually as they had go through some sort of approval process to somehow get the bundle active without me putting through the recharge code. Total wait time after porting in was 3 days and 12 hours so all good if you are not planning to make calls for this length of time.
