Welcome and thanks for the deal

  • +1

    8 GB Internal

Are we able to move large games to the microSD card in Marshmallow without rooting?
I have a asus tablet with 16 Gb internal memory and its always filling up and cant really move much to microSD.

    • +2

If it supports the new adoptable storage option in marshmallow then yes you'll be able to expand the storage for apps and games without rooting.

      • So now that we know its actually running lollipop it means you will be severely squeezed for space unless you root it.

  • +1

Great deal - Got the kids one of these for their birthday and it was great value until they lost it recently. It was $97 - 4 months back.

  • +4

    now cheaper then last time

Same price as last time - current HN deal
Should be able to price match at TGG, JB etc.

    • +1

My local TGG at North Lakes price matched it yesterday to $75.

    • +1

But this deal included free delivery!

    • +1

Harveys has dropped to $76 online too

      • +2

As posted on 17/06 - commented above

    • Woops my bad, didn't see that one!

      • +1

Your deal originally came with free delivery, so was different, better, & was cheaper if delivery cost was included! Plus had CashRewards.

Good to have choice, so no apology needed, rather congratulations :-)
(I missed the bonus delivery of your deal, so I should apologiseπŸ˜‘)

        🌟🌟🌟Good first deal🌟🌟🌟

Good to see deal active again after revision.

  • +2

Out of stock…. going back to use Cashrewards failed me this time :(

  • +1

$25.95 for Officeworks to ship it to where I am - that's awesome!

    • -5

      Why plus vote it then.

      • +4

Because you can still pick it up in stores easily enough. Obviously the postage is ridiculous.

      • +2

Was a good deal. Still a good price, now just lacking free delivery after selling out on ebay.

    • +2

If ordering through OW site, now that eBay site has sold out.

    • +3

Was Free Delivery - from their eBay site listed in this deal.
Delivery is free for orders of $55 or more (excluding items classified as Big and Bulky) Australia wide.

Just not free delivery from OW site.

      Neg for wrong reasons!
People bought this deal with free delivery.

      • -1

the ebay site says … FREE DELIVERY ON ORDERS OVER AU $55 & 2+ ITEMS

I took that as you need to buy two or more items totalling over $55. Isnt that what it means?

        • +1

Read this deal link under Description - Delivery Policy, as I posted above - no 2 item restriction. States that on mobile & desktop versions of OW eBay site.
Even if a 2 item restriction was applied, just add a pen or other cheap item. No reason to neg deal.

  • +2

Expired?? Just not from their eBay store, with the free delivery.
Still available for $76 at OW online (free C&C) & in stores. Same price at some other retailers.
    But no free shipping.

OP: could change to active deal by removing "free shipping" & change deal link to OW site. Mods can do this.

  • +1

Any cheap 7"tablets around that have a front power/activate button? I know the Samsung does but don't want to spend $150+.

    • +1

      Don't you like side buttons?

      • +1

I want to mount it on/in a wall and the side buttons won't work.

    • you can buy windows tablets and install android onthem now

or buy one of the chinese ones

  • +2

I want to connect both HDMI-out and mains-power at the same time to use this to play micro-SD movie files my TV… can this do it?

(Some tabs seem to have issues or shared/missing ports, so just checking!)

    • Chromecast?

      • I guess?! I've never tried it, assumed it'd lag/skip with these cheap tabs.

(Currently I'm just using an old Pendo Pad with a cable to my old TV, works well as a media centre for playing movies but the Pendo is getting ancient now and doesn't run newer apps/codecs…)

        • +1

I bought a pendo to do the most basic task - display a dash app in my car. It's terrible, constantly crashes

    • +1

Doesn't seem to have HDMI at all.
Mind you, spec page doesn't say it has USB ports either!
And does this thing use a custom power supply/connector?

      • Exactly! I'd hoped someone who had one might know. (I'm hundreds of miles from the nearest shop right now!)

        • +1

So… turns out it only has the basics - micro SD, micro USB, headphone. Otherwise a great unit.

        • @McFly: thanks for the info!

Let me know if you try it with Chromecast!

  • +1

    Sold out

    • +1

You can still buy in store or from officeworks website.

  • -5

Why do people want a 1024 x 600 display and 1GB RAM? I know it's cheap, but have some standards.

    • +4

most likely a tablet for their kids thats what i got

    • +4

Yes its limited in features. But some situations don't need more - eg car installation. I did a similar install with a $27 tablet from Coles (1024x600 IPS, Single Core 1.2 GHz CPU, 1GB RAM) over a year ago - very happy with it ;-)

      • Fair enough.

I've sworn off Lenovo. I bought a flagship K900 phone from them a few years ago. It never got a single Android update. It stayed at 4.2, which why just 0.1 off the requirement for Android Wear smartwatches. I waited, and waited and waited for the update.. just so I could buy a smartphone. They promised it was coming right from the start. Kept it for 2 years, never got an update.

Then I just went and bought a GS6. If they had told me they were never going to update it, I would have changed phone much sooner.

Don't expect any timely updates from Lenovo, if at all. They didn't even bother updating their flagship device, why would they update a budget $76 tablet?

        • +2

Android 5 as supplied, but rumours of 6 soon…
Most will not use this tablet that long, so upgrades are less important. People will have lower expectations of a $76 device.
My car's ancient tablet OS is ICS (Android 4.0.3) & still useful ;-) Not worth upgrading OS on that old tablet - another cheap tablet would be better.

        • @Infidel: Rumors of 6 soon, yes.

As soon as I bought my K900, it wasn't "rumored" to get an update, it was promised by Lenovo themselves. They never delivered. I held off on buying a smartwatch the entire time, waiting for an update first that never came. After 2 years I gave up and got an S6 (and a watch). Never buying Lenovo again. I don't trust them to deliver on a promise, much less a rumor. If they won't do it for a flagship, I can't see them doing it for a $76 low end tablet either.

I had the option of Sony Smartwatch 2 which did not use Android Wear and did not require 4.3+ but I didn't want that watch because it looked el cheapo.

You might be right that most people won't use this tablet long and updates are less important. In my case though, I was on the borderline of support for Android Wear. 4.2 vs 4.3. I just needed one minor update and I would have gotten support.

In the case of this tablet, with 8GB internal memory, you're going to want the Adoptive memory functionality of 6 Marshmallow, otherwise you can only have less than 8GB worth of apps on the phone.

    • +5

Because if a kid breaks these as kids do most parents wont care being so cheap.

As for a kid. Doubt a kid will care for spec so long as it plays dora/high5/wiggles/peppa pig videos and they can play some games.

    • I am still using a s2 phone it works and still does the job ok. Imho higher spec is mainly for higher level usage devices.

  • -7

    $49 item for $76

    • Wow that's a great price, where did you get it for $49.00?

      • -7

        It's only worth $49 retail,why pay $76?

        • +1

So what should I buy that's better for around the same price, preferably from a bricks & mortar store so I get a one year warranty?
All I want is something cheap for holidays to play movies & light internet use. Also to bluetooth to my car stereo.

        • +1

          Link to $49 price?

        • +4

$49 one won't come with GPS. This one comes with GPS and I am using it as a perfect GPS unit.

        • +1

          @bbtlovebbt:
how do you use it for gps? which offline map do you use?

        • +3

@slackme: dont have this tablet (yet) looking to buy some for my nephews.

I have used here.maps from the google play store.

        • +1

          @slackme:
Working perfectly with Igo NextGen - TTS Pro, TMC, and Everything. Better than any GPS you can buy from shops (except professional one which may cost 10k+).

        • +2

          @xoom:
Here Maps does not allow multi point routing. Same as google map.

        • +2

@bbtlovebbt: nice to know. I dare say majority of people use these things for point a to point b and have a preference for offline maps and not bothered by having or not having multipoint routing.

I can see how multipoint routing can be handy for delivery people.

        • +1

          @me3:
Don't know of handy link to a product's subjective worth (It's only worth $49 according to paloverde88), just current price ($76).

        • +3

@Infidel: All the subjective wishing in the world isn't going to buy this tablet for $49. Not even the Tab2 went that low.

        • @xoom:
          thanks for the info.

        • @bbtlovebbt:
          thanks for the info.

        • @bbtlovebbt:
Google maps is the best GPS there is, live traffic blows all the other ones Out of the water, only downside is no route planning (I'm a delivery driver)

  • +3

Typing this comment from this device I picked up from Harvey Norman yesterday. It's good value for the Price, perfect for my daughter

    • +3

Exactly this. Great for kids. If a kid cant look after an item at this price point no chance will i be letting them loose on a $500 galaxy tab s 10.5 LTE.

  • +2

Just bought one for my 2 year old to play talking Tom. In store still in stock

  • +2

I got one from the good guys deal last week, great little tablet. Highly recommend it.

  • Does it have GPS?
Looking for one to use in the car.

    • +2

Has GPS & IPS screen at a good price πŸ‘

      Well suited to car install
See car installation link with photo using it above.
Good screen viewing angles (eg IPS) are important for use in vehicle.

But you don't need high specs for car install - I'm using $27 7" from Coles for GPS, control of head unit, music streaming, movies, etc.

    • Try to find a nexus device, it has gps built in even for wifi ver. I got my nexus 7 2013 32GB for only $100 from Gumtree, it was really a bargain. Perfect to use in car.

      • +1

What features does your $100 second hand Nexus add to a car install, that this readily available cheaper unit with warranty doesn't?

Pretty well any tablet with GPS, IPS screen for the viewing angles found in vehicle use, & can store & run the apps required will do. Bluetooth is good but not vital.

Happily using an old single core 1GB 7" in my car for over a year, bought new for $27 at Coles. But may upgrade old tablet soon. Provides GPS online & offline maps, music streaming & player, movies, YouTube & internet TV, controlling Bluetooth head unit via app, etc. Of course browser is painfully slow, that's why its used in the car where browser access is not usually needed.

        • I had used the Optus ZTE 4G Smart FIT as a GPS (google map) for a while and I can assure you it's a pain in the ***.

        • @ntb:
Every device & app will be different & some report they can be a pita with GPS.

You're comparing a 4.5" phone with a tablet for GPS navigation to start with. That's before considering its use in a vehicle.

Screen type (to avoid screen angle issues, be bright & easy to read from distance) & size are important there.

That phone has TFT screen with poor viewing angles for car or any use where not viewed almost straight on, against good IPS screen on the nexus & this tablet. Even my old $27 tablet has IPS & good GPS.

The question was - what features your tablet has that make it a better choice (perfect as you say) than this cheaper new device for a car installation?

Car use is usually not that demanding & unlikely to ever require the expensive 32GB RAM of your tablet. That's too good for a car ;-) What apps do you use for the car?

I've found no difficulty with only 1GB RAM for the few apps I need.
The car installation using this tablet runs Torque app with obd2 adapter, Google play music, maps, etc on only 1GB RAM. Photo showing the few apps in use, similar to my installation - which uses an app to control the head unit with Bluetooth audio.

Its handy to learn from others experiences. I don't have this tablet or yours, but am interested in different installations to mine, so I can improve / upgrade it.

  • Would a 64GB EVO microSD from this post be compatible with this tablet (to fill with movies)?

    • +2

I've got that exact sd card and I'm planing to use it
Will update this post when I get it (from all accounts should work fine)

  • What is the rom like on this? Is it close to stock android?

If it is or we can put a stock android rom on there I'd grab this in a flash. I did a quick google but couldn't find anything.

  • bought 2 online from Parafield SA store, thanks.

    • Nothing at Noarlunga Officeworks but went to Noarlunga Good Guys and bought the last one on pricematch.

  • +1

Plenty in stock at broadmeadows jbhifi. Price matched office works. So 76$

  • +1

For those that have just bought this tab, can you confirm that it is Android 5 out of the box and a software check still says that it is already on the latest OS?

    • +1

I just picked one up from Harvey Norman and as you say it has Android 5 installed and software check says its already the latest OS. This is dissapointing as this version has user accounts disabled while the Lenovo version of android 6 has the user account functionality. As these are for the kids, the ability to create restricted users is important.

      • +1

Yeah, I was playing with a demo unit at HN. Assuming that all current stocks are the same, the Android 6 mentioned in the description above should be changed.

After HN, I went to OW and there was a demo unit also. It however said that there was a software update pending. The download would have been 16MB. This was the update name.
        lenovo tb3-710f_s000022_to_lenovo_tb3-710f_s000023
Does anyone recognise it? Unfortunately I didn't pay enough attention to the current Android version. It may have been 5.0 and perhaps the update took it to 5.0.1. I'm not sure so…

        • poo .. ill change that .. ive seen them with android 6 on them so must of been a hack or developers preview?

        • @MADBONE89: so there's still hope then???

      • +1

this version has user accounts disabled

        Why would they do this???
As you say, need users for the kids - it's almost a deal breaker.

  • +2

Wow well lots happend since I fell asleep

eBay sold out but Harvey Normans and Officeworks website still has stock? As far as I can see

Thanks for the first post support :)

  • +5

Removed expiry as stores still have stock.
Thanks OP, helped out friends who had asked me to keep an eye out for tablet for their kid. They managed to buy in-store.

  • Mines not on 6.0 …5.0.1 purchased from good guys in the ebay sale thing.

    • +1

So far no reports of Android 6. The item description above needs to be updated so as not to cause confusion or false expectations.

      • +1

In the states, they already have android 6.0. So it's probably not available in AU yet.

        • Excellent! Is the US model a different model number?

  • This is a good cheap product for phantom drone flyers, compatible with DJI GO! Don't have to bother with iPad or iPhone anymore thx for the deal πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

  • +1

I bought it on a whim because it was so cheap and have decided to use it to emulate some GBC and PSX games. Brilliant value!

    • Theres a use i never thought of. Time to load these up with roms.

      • +1

I've been rekindling my childhood with some Pokemon Red and Metal Gear Ghost Babel. At 7" it's a perfect size to hold… and the tablet too.

        • +1

7"…thats not what she said. :-)

my nephews will a fair bit of use out of this tablet since they been bugging me for a gps.
