Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 takes another huge price drop with it down to only $220 after cashback! Given these were around $270 a few months back, it's a great time to take advantage of this deal.

      It doesn't matter who the seller or shop is. You'll have next to none unless you know someone in China who can physically take the phone in for repair/warranty/replacement. Xiaomi doesn't do postal repairs locally in China either, let alone internationally. If the phone arrives faulty you will usually be offered options to send it back for repair/replacement or receive a partial refund.

      That is the time limit for them to ship it before you can ask aliexpress for a refund I think.

      I buy a lot from aliexpress and they usually send them pretty fast. I hope this guy gets to the post office soon! I am annoyed that I paid for DHL and it hasn't left yet.

          @superforever: I think it came as MIUI Global Stable 7.2. Connected to wifi and it automatically asks you to update to 7.3.5 (LHOMIDD), which is the latest global ROM that people usually prefer anyway. Looks good so far.

          @daveaus: I basically waited for about 1.5 weeks before I got it. First impression: notification bar is very small. Loving the fingerprint reader, which is very reliable. Camera is, as online reviews have said, nothing to boast of. Not much of a bloatware came with the phone, unless you consider some of the MI apps as bloatwares (ie Mi Account, Mi Remote etc).

          ROM is perfectly fine. Connected to wifi and updated automatically to the latest global stable ROM. Hence not planning to do anything to it.

          I just got the message from Aliexpress, they will unpack it and install global ROM.

          In that case I think those received must have already opened, I think the reason why they need a few days before they can ship it out because of that.

        I believe the grey ones are sold out from the start. There's no specifications on the 32g SD card for the bundle deal. Should have press the buy button when I landed in KL when this deal was first posted. Looks like I am too late. I had confirmation that this phone will come with official global ROM when it was USD$180.

      I have changed from iPhone 5s and think it's fine. Still fits in hand snug just wider grip. Get a non slip case to help with grip.

      What I did find with my earlier xiaomi models was the camera settings do need tweaking. Exposure and focus settings in particular. Doesn't make the physical camera any better but does improve out of the box default settings.

      Anyone managed to unlock the boot loader? I followed the instructions and it says oem unlock not allowed.

      Don't try the boot loader unlock. It soft bricked my device. The fix was easy..

      Reboot into fastboot mode (vol down + power 30 seconds). Use this tool to reboot into EDL mode: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/guide-re… then flash the global rom (without the replaced files) which you would have already downloaded as part of the bootloader unlock process.

        Ok I got the unofficial unlock working.

        Under development options there is a "Enable OEM Unlock" option which I missed. This needs to be enabled.

        From there I flashed TWRP from fastboot

        And cyanogenmod is downloading. I hope its an improvement over MIUI, I wasn't a big fan.

    I ordered one of this on the previous deal from this seller with Aliexpress Standard Shipping; Ordered 8/6: 10.30pm, Shipped 10/6: 8.30pm, Received: in the morning 23/6!         I let them update the ROM. It came with the box unsealed with the Global ROM installed.

        It updated OTA to the newest GLOBAL ROM.

        Just hope that your bank chooses to process the payment at a time where that currency conversion rate still applies. You'll probably be ahead, but perhaps not by the same amount if the pound bounces back by the time the transaction is processed.
