  • Warehouse1 has ml10v2 for 159+ shipping which may be atound 25. Slightly cheaper.

Hi, the ML10v2 is come with 1TB and they are selling the diskless model, their 1TB is $269.00

      PC Lan

      • Most buying these will take out the 1TB drive anyway and replace with a larger capacity

        • Since the server has 4 hard drives slot… customer can add more storage later if 1TB is not enough.

      • What price can you do for the ML10v2 with no HDD shipped to Melbourne?

        • Sorry we are doing clearance on the ML10v2 1TB model only, we do not have special price on the diskless model at the moment.

  • Can anyone comment on what the Seagate Cloud thingy is like? Am in the market for a NAS and wondering if this will do the job. Sort of had my heart set on a synology NAS

    • Depends what you expect from "doing the job". Having asked that, i have gone with a Syno NAS and it has been fantastic for my needs as a one stop downloading, scheduling, streaming media centre for movies, music and photos. I thought i needed hardware decoding but it hasn't been an issue for me so far and the apps work extremely well (no need for Plex)…after a year. I bought a DS216J

      • Have seen the 416J for around $400. Might get that instead. I too worry about encoding but reckon I'll just re-encode my media

        • For movies/video I stream to my Sammy TV using DLNA and sometimes via Chromecast using their DSVideo app which is very good. Just drop the raw file in a pre-defined/setup video folder and it will go and find the summary, artwork and other data around the movie or tv show without you needing to do anything and then it is all presented very nicely in the app ready to cast. Nearly all my videos are mkv, mp4 or avi and have never had a problem

        • @halfnhalf71:

Just keep in mind that most NAS are unable to process x265/HEVC files due to the CPU requirements.

Just something to consider if you're like me and stuck on very restricted internet quotas.

        • @halfnhalf71:

I used to stream to my Samsung TV via DLNA as well, until they crippled some of it by removing the licensing/codec support. I then purchased a Raspberry Pi and ran Kodi on that, now upgraded to a rPi2 still running Kodi with the database stored on the NAS. Works very well. I haven't tested it beyond 1080p as I have no devices that support 4k.

I've tried using the DSVideo app and Chromecasting, but found many of my files not compatible with that configuration, so back to the Pi.

I'm using a DS212j from years ago that I should be updating soon as the lack of USB3 makes an external transfer/backup take too long. Been happy with the Synology unit for the most part so will move to one of the newer 4-bay units, possibly a DS916+ even for the expansion capability.

        • @Yekul: Yeah, unfortunately, that is the world we live in these days. You buy for the current and hopefully for the near future knowing full well that in a few years time you will have to upgrade…Having said that, are you talking about transcoding on the fly? My current NAS won't do that well (at all?) but through Videostation, either my Sammy or Chromecast are able to deal with the formats i have sent them so far.

        • @m13: Plex now supports Synology's ARM processors these days if that helps?

        • @halfnhalf71:
My ARM is way too old to do anything. I could however upgrade to a lower model, but I am keen to have some space for extra drives or the option for that. I'll look into it more when I'm ready to buy.

  • Is the ML10v2 any good as a Plex server?
Mainly 1 stream at a time, with a variety of different file formats.

  • Rather have a diskless model, 1tb is crap.

  • So Store Rep, the diskless model, any advice as to the largest HDDs you can install, 8TB isn't enough for me, cheers.

    • Do you mean the ML10v2 Diskless model?

The ML10v2 support 4x LFF Hard Drives and so you can install max. 4x 8TB = 32TB (You can add 2 more slots by purchasing HPE ML10 v2 Drive Enablement Kit)

**8TB is the biggest size now.

      Regards,
      PC Lan

      • Nah, sorry, I meant the diskless Seagate 2 Bay Personal Cloud on your website, wanting to know the biggest size HDD to put in it, cheers.

  • Pic says Xeon, specs say Pentium

    • Thanks for pointing out and the picture is fixed now.

  • Is the supplied RAM in the server, ECC or Non-ECC ???

    • It will be 4gb single stick of ECC ram.

  • grabbed another 2 Seagate 6TB to add to the NAS.

    • Thank you for your order! :)

      Cheers!

  • Hi Ops

Any good deal on Qnap 671 or 471 diskless model ?

    Cheers

    • QNAP TVS-471 and TVS-671 prices are updated on our website.

      Regards,
      PC Lan

  • Can you do a better deal on WD 2TB red Nas on your ebay store, need to use my voucher through ebay :)

    • We are sorry that the WD20EFRX $152 is already the best we can do on eBay.

      Regards,
      PC Lan

  • Rep - what's the warranty on the Seagate Personal Cloud just in case the HDDs die on me?

    • Also been having problems trying to create a new account - after clicking Submit it always takes me back to the Registration / Create New Account Page?

      • We are sorry that there is an issue with our sign up page. At the mean time when we are fixing it, if you are actually making an order, may I ask you to register during check out which is tested working (there are options when you check out at cart – check out as guest / register).

        Cheers!

        • Will try that out thanks

        • +1

Can confirm the Registration is working, but you should tell your Web Devs ( while they're fixing it ) that sending out login credentials (username/password) thru email in plain text is a big NO NO - honestly I'm a bit shocked that some people still do this nowadays.

I hope you salt your passwords too… :(

        • @kevinMario: Scares me how they might be storing credit card numbers

    • Seagate Personal Cloud comes with 3 years warranty, and the HDDs (ST3000VN000) come with 5 years warranty.

      Regards,
      PC Lan

      • Is this a warranty with PC LAN or with Seagate direct? Sorry just want to make sure all my bases are covered ;)

        • We will help you with warranty process, or you can do warranty with Seagate directly.
Just make sure you keep the invoice in a safe place because invoice is needed for warranty process.

  • Any deals on Synology DS916+?

  • Lost my business on principal "2% handling fee applied to PayPal / Credit Card"

    • I still bought from these guys a few times but yeah its very annoying. PC Lan increase the price 2% and offer free credit card handling fee.

    • At least they're transparent and upfront about it. It's a genuine cost to them. Maybe not 2% but they wouldn't be profiting much from it. I think of it as offering a 2% saving if I buy in cash, like the old days where cash was king. Alternatively, they just factor in the cost in their prices and everyone pays extra, whether they pay cash or not. Is that fairer?

So on a $200 purchase, it adds $4. Not a showstopper for me.

  • Another n00b question ( this would be my first ever NAS ) - this thing is built with the assumption that it'll be running 24/7/365 yes? So it'll be perfectly safe to do just that? ( and plug it into a surge protector )

Also any tips / tricks from any tech gurus here that have played around with NAS before?

  • Rep - Whats the difference between Seagate Personal Cloud STCS6000301 and SGPC6TB2B?

    • Seems SGPC6TB2B is a product code created by Officework, and STCS6000301 is the Manufacturer's Part Number. They should be the same thing.

      • Thanks for confirmation.

  • Thanks. Ordered a ml10v2. Dont really need the 1tb but for $25 more than warehouse1s no drive option after delivery is taken into account makes it reasonable.
