4gb ram, this phone is better than my computer!

I think it's disgraceful to ship a phone in mid-2016 with Kitkat. That was OS was leaked almost 3 years ago.. Let that sink in. 3 YEARS.

    • +1

I just bought a kitkat phone but it only cost me $20

      • +3

That's different. In my experience I've found phones of low-end hardware run better on KitKat. Plus, it was $20.

A phone with a beefy quad core CPU and 4GB of RAM needs to at the very least run 5.0. 4.4 is simply unacceptable, even for a spare phone. It's SO dated.

        • Can you do it yourself, by flashing a rom or similar?

        • @BargainQuail: Why bother when you can just buy some other decent Chinese phones? And I believe there is not much of support from the developers either, so most likely you wouldn't find a rom for this phone.

        • There's a 5.0 rom. But given this is an Intel phone you can guess where Lenovo thinks this is heading.

    • +3

Why? I like many others are running Win7 for PC that released 7 years ago. Yet it's stable and does everything you need.

As for this phone, the same applies, it's stable and run alls all the apps you need bar the ones incompatible with intel chipsets.

So what is it that this is somehow obsolete? It is because Google tell you or because it's not the highest number.

Not starting a discussion, just pointing out attitudes towards tech obsolescence.

Why compare Apples to Oranges? Mobile OSs and Desktop OSs are completely different. Not once did I say there was anything wrong with Windows 7, it's still my favourite version of Windows.

Android KitKat is a dated OS, and it doesn't come down to personal preference, unlike versions of Windows. It's just plain old, and just plain worse.

I could rant on about how Lollipop was a complete failure compared to Kit Kat, but I won't, instead enjoy your upgrades.

I've stayed on Kit Kat despite the latest version being available on my phone, and yes it is a 'personal preference' due to removal of features.

        • congrats… you dont seem to want to acknowledge that the vast majority of people want the latest version of android on their devices, if for nothing else but security

        • @tonyjzx: Me, or him? I'm all for the latest versions :P

        • +1

          @deanylev:

obviously him, my reply is directly under his.

Google actually does weird stuff like not allow you to update certain apps because you're on an old version of android.

Hey it aint my fault certain manufacturers dont like supporting their stuff.

        • @tonyjzx: I thought replies are meant to be indented to the side :P

And yep, never any reason to not upgrade, unless of course you're on old hardware and the update will run like ass (my old Nexus 7 2012 ran like a slideshow on Lollipop). Not sure what 'removal of features' he's on about, but frankly I don't care all that much.

        • completely different

No, they are not. One is for your phone, one is for your computer.

Holy crap, those specs are insane! Anyone know of a way to root it to run Marshmallow though? That's the only problem I can see with it, that'd make it perfect…

  • Can this site be trusted?

  • How good are the 4 g bands for Australia?

  • @OP any idea when the lemon x3 will be back in stock?

  • Apparently you can install the Lenovo P90 ROM on this phone (I believe this is Marshmallow) but do your own research before jumping in. http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/lenovo-k80m-roo…

As for 4G bands it looks like it doesn't have Band 28 for Telstra https://www.frequencycheck.com/carrier-compatibility/GgB9Hnl…

  • Intel CPU? Id have thought that would cause some compatibility issues… ??

  • any idea is this single sim or dual sim?? some website says single, some website says dual = =
