20% off on International Flights @ SCOOT (AMEX ONLY)

442
AMEX20

Sorry guys scoot are useless..

Per to singapore showing: AUD 238.00 before sale started and at that time i thought my singapore flight will cost me after amex discount 190.4.

BUT scoot increased the flight prices. Same flight is now costing me after discount 264.49.

So this is not a deal.

I was curious about pricing so tried HK and Taiwan, but can't find any flights. "We're sorry, no flights were found between your requested locations." Why do they bother listing them as destinations if there are no flights?

It's also annoying to read "20% off Any Scoot Destination" which has fine print: "The promotional code… applies to selected base fares only".

    • And that's the nub. The discounted "base" fare may be still be more than the actual ticket price for that particular date, depending on what deal is on offer.

      • Yes, I think that's my point about the contrast between any and selected. So if I understand correctly, it means that their discount is not for any tickets, just for any destination. This means that the deal is really only for some tickets, with at least one ticket going to each destination, but the other tickets to that same destination might not be discounted. Airlines seem to have dozens of base fares so it shouldn't be difficult for Scoot to find some that can be discounted 20% without affecting profits. Seems a bit of weasel-wording to me.

  • Interestingly Scoot seem to have some sale prices already active, just checked OOL-SIN flights that I've had my eye on for a while and they're marked as on sale and are cheaper than yesterday. This is without the Amex code which isn't active until 2 pm

    • extra Savings$$

      • Those sale fares for today only go to 2pm so the code most likely won't work.

        • How do you know that? Sorry, just trying to work out if they will be cheaper BEFORE 2pm with those sale fares, I have a feeling they might.

  • Do jetstar price beat when you use a promo code though? I know the t&cs dont specifically exclude it, but have heard of people being denied a price beat

    • No

They did for me a few weeks ago. I bought two different flights at two different times, both flights were price beaten using a AirAsia 20% off promo code.

Don't keep your hope up, the last time this sale was on, the price is the same as just before the sale which is a normal sale fare as well.

  • Can this be used for the Value Alliance network?

  • Per to singapore showing: AUD 238.00 now. After discount(calculated: 190.4)

I doubt you would get it at $190.40 because Scoot have a "special" at the moment. ($119/one way or $238/return)

Discount will apply to their full price, so the price will be up and discount will just bring it down to the same as previous sale, sometimes even more expensive. These sales are bogus and this is not the first time.

      • Don't worry mate I've been burnt before. Bought tickets thing they were cheap only to have a proper sale a month after

    • let's see what happens and hope we get additional 20%.

      • you clearly don't know how their sales work… now you should understand how it works ;)

        • Correct, this is not a sale. Last week I purchased PER-SIN return for $198 (each leg was $99 - travel is in August). The same flight is now priced at $288 pre-discount and $256.49 after discount.

        • @Reveen: How did you get it at that price? I've only ever bought it when they had their flash sale.

So previously the price was $169 one way to Singapore from Sydney before this awesome sale, so that's $338 return. Now the cheapest I can find is $348. Also for the dates I want to fly (ie Thursday) it's actually more expensive. That's an increase of $10 for bad dates despite the discount. I was hoping for a deal.

      same thing for me.
      Very disappointed.

what a sham.. this is not a deal at all..
worst off with this thing active..

I was looking at dates in Nov, SYD to SIN

      • Should I remove post?

        • you don't need to remove but you can edit your post.

    • Same thing for me! Was looking at F1 dates and boom, prices jacked up.

      • For F1 dates ScootBiz has dropped from $399 to $350 though, that's very cheap considering.

    • I saw the prices increase and couldn't believe it! Glad to know I wasn't the only one.

This definitely needs to go to the ACCC.

  • Any good deals for Thailand or Japan or Taiwan?

    • +1

I just spent 45 minutes looking on your behalf and couldn't find any

Maybe you could try yourself and might have better luck than asking others to do your work??

      • +2

I agree, but maybe you shouldn't have looked for 45 mins…

  • did anyone actually tried to pay with their AMEX? when i entered my details, it said card number not allowed??? tried it for both economy and biz… do i need a singapore amex???

    • I'm getting the same issue… actually found some good prices on Scootbiz for the times I want to go, $700 return. Weird all the way through, told me the AMEX20 wasn't applied to either leg when I confirmed my choices, then when I'm trying to pay it's recognising my AMEX number as AMEX but telling me it's "Not allowed". I'd say someone has stuffed something.

      • +1

Yes, that is what i was getting as well… i thought the $350 scootbiz was pretty good, by the time you option up the flybageat option, select your seat and all that, the difference was less than $100.

        • I can still get through to the payment stage with the same error message happening every time. Ive just spent a fruitless half an hour or more on the phone with Scoot. They can't understand the fault and they can't offer the fare, which I think is false advertising. Asked to be put through to supervisor and was refused. Still really want these tickets but don't know where to go from here - most frustrating thing I've tried to throw money at in my life

  • I have had the same problems with Scoot in the past. Shady business if you ask me.

  • I think its actually unlawful in this country to do fake sales like that
