Dell S2716DG 2560x1440 144hz Monitor $799.20 Delivered @ Dell eBay

CTEC20

Was $1069 yesterday and now $999 today before coupon.

2560x1440
144hz
g-sync
TN Panel

Also used Cashrewards for 1.25% cashback for the first time so should save extra $10 if it works.

This monitor is a lot cheaper in the US as low as $480USD sometimes, but once you slam on $120USD for postage it comes out to $798.90~ AUD anyway.

Will be a great monitor for gaming, but note it is a TN Panel Not IPS panel, therefore colours and viewing angles not as good apparently, but I'm colourblind anyway.
The benefit of a TN panel is response time 1ms vs 4ms for competitive gaming, and less chance of backlight bleed compared with IPS models.

  • With everyone else bumping up their prices for the sale, it's nice to see Dell lower their price.

  • +1

I wish this was IPS - I hate the gaming look of the Acer and Asus

      • The worst looking Gsync 1440p monitor with the terrible round base and glossy look.

Geeze when I spend 800plus on a monitor I think I have the right to be a little choosy.

I also find it strange that you didn't atleast mention the XB271HU

  • For the same price you could get the Acer XB270HU instead, IPS vs TN, same 144Hz refresh along with G-Sync.

I picked up the XB270HU last 20% off sale, it's a damn good monitor.

    • Did you have any dead pixels or bad backlight bleeding?

Was keen on getting the Dell but I heard there's bad ghosting when you're looking at Web pages

      • Yikes, source?

http://www.overclock.net/t/1577511/anyone-else-excited-for-t… just one of a few. There's more on the Dell forums.

I also wanted the XB271hu but apparently that's been having some sort of firmware issue lately where the screen overlaps in the centre. And then there's the dead pixels etc.
For the amount of money you pay for these monitors you'd think they would be flawless

      • Nope, no dead pixels or backlight bleeding, it does have some of the usual IPS glow but I've barely noticed it when actually using it.

  • Can you notice 144Hz?

    • Simply - if your games are running at higher than 60 FPS, then yes.

        Cinematic 24fps 720p console graphics :P

  • This Dell doesn't review very well: http://www.digitaltrends.com/monitor-reviews/dell-s2716dg-re…

    Poor black levels and contrast
    Inaccurate gamma
    Bland color
Too expensive for its mediocre performance

I agree with the above. Better off with the Acer XB270HU. Same specs, but with IPS panel. Review: http://www.digitaltrends.com/monitor-reviews/acer-xb270hu-re…

Only one DisplayPort (generally not an issue for PC gaming)
    Mediocre contrast
    Very expensive

  • There are glasses to correct colour blindness now!

  • i got this and got rid of it almost instantly and got a acer x34, i could not stand the colours of the dell it was absolutely horrible.
