Optus need to understand their credit is inferior to Telstra'. Stop trying to follow Telstra. They need to give a much bigger discount.

    • Does Optus's $30 amount last for 6 months, if not used?

If so, it might be good to put into an Emergency, before
hiding it in, eg, Home, Car, School Backpack, Cottage,
      Shack, Motorbike, etc.

…just in case you need to ring, after losing your phone
      to theft or forgetfulness.

Even if you use u[ credit, i may still let you ring 1800-
numbers, & phone, by itself (even SIMless) should let
you dial the International Emergency no. (112, I think).

A cheap, always charged phone can save Life, sometimes.

The Telstra that goes down every month or so?

The Telstra that bought the booking system for 30 companies down?

The Telstra where the CEO admitted he needed to spend $200m to stop this happening?

      That Telstra?

  • I have 6 Optus $30 kits that I never got around to using and they expire on the 1st Sept 2016. Is there any way of getting their validity extended or exchanging with it with kits with longer validity? I don't want to see them gone in waste.

using sim 1, start a new optus prepaid plan or if you already have one, request a "sim replacement with credit transfer". this can't be done on their website, but can be done using online chat. when your new sim has been activated, repeat: request a sim replacement with $30 credit transfer, ad infinitum. just make sure that each time you do this, the replacement sim is activated before loading the next.
