    Oooo…..

I might get the new Galaxy Note 7 with this. My partner has been eyeing my S7 edge for quite some time.

    Hi,

I already have ANZ Platinum and received $200, will I still get $200 cashback for the ANZ First Card if I apply and approved?
Need to buy a washing machine asap :(. would be good if I can get $170 back ($200 less $30 fee)

edit: nvm, not eligible as per comment below:

Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or for customers who have been approved for an ANZ credit card and received a cashback or similar payment from ANZ within the previous twelve months.

Did you have any other ANZ credit card prior to getting the Platinum card?

      • just had the Platinum from the previous deal, few months ago. was thinking to get the ANZ First Card.

    • Hi Mate
How long it took for $200 cash back?

Cause i have made eligible purchase of $500 on Anz first for 4-5 weeks .
And haven't got cash back yet..

  • Same as https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/251794 but not sure why it expired on 22 July.

  • guys, we have been seeing these kind of promotions very often. just a question - If we start apply for all these banks, enjoy the benefit and cancel the card, would it not hit our credit history badly ? If its not , then I would say, this is the best offer - not to miss :-)

    • It would, but I'm thinking of signing up to this ANZ Platinum first before switching internally to the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures :)

as long as you pay your credit card bill in full and on time, I reckon it should not affect your credit history?
      Not sure though.

    • i think if you are not frequently apply and cancel you should be fine, by saying frequently one every three months or Six months should be ok.

Unfortunately it does. Every time you apply for a credit product a check is made on your credit profile. Each check decreases your credit score. If left alone without any checks or other negative impacts (eg. defaults) your score slowly goes up over time.

Stupid, but it's the way the system works.

      • australia doesnt use a credit score?

  • Any limits on "eligible"? I was thinking of something from aliexpress!

Would be nice to get some clarification on any impact on credit rating.

    • AliExpress would be fine except for the 3% foreign transaction fee.

excludes Balance Transfers, cash advances as defined in the ANZ Credit Cards Conditions of Use, interest, fees, premiums paid for ANZ Credit Card Insurance, transactions for gambling or gaming purposes, transactions reversed and purchase refunds

Basically every card you apply for reduces your borrowing 'power'. Initially your credit rating will drop, but if you pay your bills on time it will have no affect. Maybe even increase your credit rating if you pay in full on time (but will still reduce your borrowing power for a home loan etc).

    • Trust me all you need to do is take out a personal loan and repay I ahead of time. Citibank won't stop offering me 0% interest free fee free loans!

  • Personally prefer large amounts of QFF points

  • It looks like the Anz platinum card got no fee for the fisrt year. What if i cancel the card after i got the cashback? Is there any penalty? Thanks

    • No penalty mate. Lot of people does that.

  • Should point out that there is no first year annual fee for platinum, and $30 for first.

So basically free $200 for platinum.

  • I need to pay my ATO tax soon. Can this be an eligible purchase, LOL? I suppose if I pay by BPay it's OK?

    • I would also like to know if this could be used to pay the ATO. Would like to use this to pay back $500 of my hecs debt before the government removes the 5% discount.

  • Some BPay payments come up as cash advance which does not qualify and hits you with interests straight away.

  • If you're in SA, this might be better as you get two tickets to the Royal Adelaide Show with the same cash back but with BankSA - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/255922
