Ah yes banking. The most innocent of all professions. Citibank naturally being one of the Big Innocents.

Anyone received free balance transfer offer lately?

On a free for life signature - about a month ago I got a 6month one at 0% for no cost. Had to call up to ask.

      • gee. i didnt. ok lets call them

        • I didnt get it straight away - it took some persistence (took a few phone calls over a few different days) to get it, but its worth the hassle.

  • Something fishy here. The page says it is equivalent to $400 Myer card. However as the Citi Rewards page, 80,000 point is equivalent to $200 Myer gift card.

In that case , 75,000 points is not even cover the first year fee. Unless there is as different rewards program for this type of card.

    • I actually came across this too a while ago (being a Citi customer), but found out that they're not very consistent with updating their websites. The public link you provided above is true, but when you actually log in to your account, there is a separate rewards website altogether, with points that are much more aligned with the other banks out there, i.e. 18k-20k points is roughly $100 depending on the retailer. So the net value you get from joining this program is roughly $180-$200 (after annual fees), which still wouldn't win me over considering WBC's recent deal.

50k points (after 2.5k spend in 3 months) with no annual fees for the first year. Not the best in the history of free points but probably the best that's been on the market recently if you just wanna claim the points.

This was free annual membership a year or two ago. For LIFE.

The only card I have ever held onto, in all my mortgage transfers, all my credit card points hacking and cancellations - the only constant is my Citibank signature card (and my platinum - both free for life).

Same here. Cards have come and cards have gone. Citi signature (fee free) shines through and lives on as the best in it's class :)

Yup, and the other thing about $0 annual fee is… Free supplementary cards! Even the current ANZ black I'm carrying can't have supp's cos it costs money :(

        • Other than having a free credit card, are there any other benefits for supp. card holders. eg. Can they also get free travel insurance even if not travelling with the primary card holder?

    • Wait you have the Platinum free for life. Amazing work! I happened to have missed the boat.
Only downside to being free for life is you can't get signup bonus points. Which may or may not matter to you.

    • Yes … Thanks to ozbargainer … I got free annual fee for life too …
Very happy with it … claimed few hundreds dollars of giftcards every year.

      Sweet …
