Further note to mod: given that some of those deals you've linked to are up to 3 weeks old, and stock has sold out and been restocked since this latest post, seems a bit crazy to have to refer back to such old deals which should have really been marked as expired.

        • @scrimshaw: yeah I know… and I most likely will… but there is no stock yet

  • Damn you. EVGA SC's out of stock. Not much difference for the FTW I guess.

Thanks op, too many to choose from :) Sorry for the noob question but what's the difference between the all the 1070s ?

For the founders editions, nothing at all. They are all Nvidia reference cards with the same cooler and clock speeds.

The AIB cards will have various different coolers and some will also be factory overclocked on both the memory and GPU timings.
It really comes down to personal preference with that sort of stuff. Everyone is going to have their brand preference in the end for whatever reasons.

      • +1

There is one point of distinction with Founders cards from various brands, which is warranty period and after sales support. This is usually why EVGA is the favoured brand among enthusiasts because they are quite good in this area.

        • Thanks Op :)

  • Coil whine issue with evga Sc 1070,anyone? From the previous deal?

The MSI 1070 Sea Hawk AIO Hybrid for US$509 is a pretty good price, in stock too.

    Guys
may I recommend you to use a tracking site like http://www.nowinstock.net/ to check/track stock level in your graphic card hunting.
This site is very helpful as most of the time both seller like Amazon and newegg only have limited supply each time they restock their product.

    • Unfortunately the Nowinstock Newegg tracker is only for the US site, which won't ship to us. The flip-side is that the NeweggAU site ONLY sells to us so stock is there for a lot longer as were not competing with the rest of the world.

      • it also track Amazon's stock level as well, that's how I got mine.

Give it a try, cos if not we are competing with buyer from the states as well as other country.

Seem they distributing the card slowly to maintain the price level. :(

        • +2

Yeah I've also got an EVGA 1080 on order thanks to nowinstock and Amazon, but they sell out very quickly so you still have to be fast.

NeweggAU isn't tracked by nowinstock so you have to manually check, but that means more stock for us.

    Hmm no rx480 4gb deals :-(

    • Definitely in the wrong deal for those ;)

  • The Gigabyte GeForce GTX GV-N1080G1 GAMING-8GD Video Graphics Card from Amazon is displaying as $764.97 US now.

    • Amazon has sold out of stock, that would be a third party seller price

  • i want to build a rig by battlefield 1 would i be better off now waiting for next years nividia graphics card or buy the 1080?

    • What resolution are you planning on running it at?
Buying a 1080 now will let you run it at 1440p ultra, probably above 90 fps(guessing atm, but shouldn't be too much harder to run than bf4 — gtx 1080 gets around 100-120 fps in bf4 in 1440p maxed settings).
If you want to play in 4k, a 1080 would do it, but, you'd be looking at probably 40ish fps, maxed settings, maybe 50 if you turned off some aa.
2 1080's would probably let you play in 4k Ultra settings @ around 70-75fps.
Those numbers are guesses 'without' overclocking. (Though they should be pretty accurate).

So, it depends on a lot of things.
I'm getting a 1080 ftw edition sometime today/tomorrow, and around christmas I'll probably get the hybrid ftw (for better sli OC; ie, run hybrid as top card so I can OC both without throttling ).

AMD may come out with a better card before the end of this year, but I REALLY doubt it. Like, it would be a miracle. Titan X (V2) has been announced recently, and should be ready to purchase in about a week, but, you probably wont be able to grab one for a month. It's about a 25% performance jump on the 1080 (Apparently), but, due to taxes etc, for us aussies, it'll locally be priced around 2k, and again, because of taxes and conversion rates, it won't be popping below that 1k threshold like the 1080 is, so it wont be cheaper to buy it from amazon or anything either.

Failing that, the next flagship from Nvidia probably won't be seen for at least 6 months, and there's no reason to think it's going to be more than a 30-35% jump on a 1080. It'll probably be more expensive than the 1080 is now too.
The 1080 is a good card, and in SLI, you're looking at about 3.5 times the performance(assuming you keep temps low enough not to throttle/are OCX'ing around 2ghz on both) of a 980 — which itself is still a very good card — ie, runs pretty much everything in 1440p @ultra @ a playable frame rate (ie, witcher 3 ultra HW/off = 42ish fps). SLI 1080's makes 4k possible. 4K is the next big thing, and wont be outdated for a long time. 4K at monitor distance is reaching 'retina' quality pixel density. Expect 4k to last for a long time (10years?). It really all depends on A) what resolution you want to play games at, and B)how long you want to play those games.

      • id really like to have 4k but i just dont think the cards are there yet , everyone tells me just stick with 1440p i just dont want to go out and buy the 1080 when there is a better card just around the corner , id like the best card available.

        • The 1080 is the best card available. Unless money is no object for you; in which case, wait a week and buy 2 titan x(v2)'s.

        • -2

Vega 10 and Vega 11 will do 4k without any issues at THIS SAME $600 PRICE POINT! good things come to those who wait.. but hey! thats the tech industry for you.

          Vega 10
          4096 cores 10.5 TFLOPS, 8-16gb HBM2 1000MB PER SECOND memory bandwidth
          Vega 11
          6024 cores 15 TFLOPS, 8-16gb HBM2 1000MB PER SECOND memory bandwidth

          VS

          GTX1080
          2560 Cores 9 TFLOPS, 8GB GDDR5X 320MB PER SECOND memory bandwidth
          GTX1070
          1920 Cores 6.5 TFLOPS, 8GB GDDR5 256MB PER SECOND memory bandwidth

They will also decimate GTX1080/1070 in Vulkan\DX12 as Pascal still lacks DX12\Vulkan features.
But that no surprise because they will be competing with Nvidia's GTX1080ti and Titan X that will also come with HBM2 ..
They should all come out around the same time towards the end of the year/ early next and drive the price of GTX1080/70 into the mud.. !! :)

I'm so tempted to buy one of these GTX1070's but I'm going to settle for a RX 470 4gb for $149US when they hit the stores until AMD 8 core Zen comes out then i will match that CPU with a Vega 10 or 11 chip!

        • @vid_ghost: You really think we can get Vega for AUD $600 when it is released? I hope so…

        • @edfoo:

Vega 10 with 4096 cores yes.. Vega 11.. probably not :) but we'll see.. it all comes down to how agresive Nvidia is with their pricing of GTX1080, GTX1080ti and Titan.. as these with be competing fo sales with it.

        • @vid_ghost: Hmm seeing how much price gouging Nvidia is with GTX 1080 now, AMD may not have the pressure to price Vega low :(

        • +1

          @edfoo:

Cant be any worse then it is now with Nvidia pretty much having the market for high end cards all to themselves.. we need that competition to drive sales prices down.

        • @vid_ghost:
No matter which camp you sit in, I think we can all agree that the market needs some healthy competition so "we, the consumers" win with better products at lower prices

  • How do I get 1070 FTW for $641.50AU? I add to cart and total says AUD 659.71

    • +1

The estimated AU price is based on using a good international transaction card, please refer to the wiki here:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/cards_with_no_overseas_tra…

Assuming you have one of these cards, you elect to pay your order in US dollars (do not use Amazon's conversion rates) and your card should give you a reasonable conversation rate close to the real spot rate

      • Ah OK yeah I thought that was the case.

Might be time for me to grab one of those 28 degrees cards.

        • Or a Coles reloadable MC, no international transaction fees until 2017, we start paying GST July next year anyway.

        • @CH:

$89 FEE per year — checked online at coles finance website

        • +1

          @vid_ghost:

Not the credit card, a reloadable MC, or prepaid debit card, one off $10 fee.

It was a deal here a month or so ago, I got one when I decided to buy a couple of 1080's from Amazon.

          http://financialservices.coles.com.au/prepaid-cards/coles-re…

  • just picked up the gigabyte g1 1070.. upgrading from at r390, should be a decent step up at 1440p

  • given that this deal is all about the 1070 gtx, what monitor would pair with these. i've been looking at the acer predator 1440 at 144hz but open to the market for other options. any thoughts?

  • Was initially only going to go for the 1060, but Ozbargain always has a way of getting me to consider more expensive options. After spending ages comparing the remaining 1070 options (I've got no clue when it comes to differences in GPUs) I remembered I won't use it enough to notice any difference whatsoever, and bit the bullet and purchased the ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 8GB ROG STRIX.

    • -1

haha I feel you man, My wallet tells me to go 1060 or some second hand card. But every time i go on this site i start looking for 1080s…

  • +1

    In stock right now!
ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX Graphics Card (STRIX-GTX1080-8G-GAMING)

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HDUVJ2M/ref=ox_sc_act_t…

Price: USD$649.99 + USD$16.95 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to Australia

  • Pulled the trigger on an EVGA 1070 SC. Credit card was charged $598au shipped. Cant wait to upgrade from my current Gtx 580 1.5gb sli set up.

  • i just cant wait for the RX 480 AIB, took a bullet and ordered Gigabyte 1070 g1 gaming ( should i get EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0?)
I'm using acer xr341ck freesync, is it ok guys? Do i need to worry about the compatible or any thing?

    Sorry for my noob question.
    Thanks

    • The g1 has a higher OC boost mode, 3 fans on the G1 vs 2 slightly larger on the FTW.. overall fairly similar cards, i too pondered between the 2 of them but ended up on the G1 for $30usd less and a marginally faster clock. I might be wrong but freesync is an AMD feature, you want gsync for nvidia so yes its incompatible afaik

      • Thank you. I am worry about the freesync and Gsync too. When i bought my acer freesync, i was expecting AMD would make some big move, didnt think Rx480 would be their fastest card this year. There is no way rx490 AIB would be available until mid 2017. They may announce it early next year, but it would take awhile before it hit Australia and we have to wait for other manufactures to release their custom cards.

        Its just too long!

  • Gah impatience is killing me, ordered the g1 over the weekend with shipping early next week, was hoping something else would be in stock now so i could cancel my order but alas its not to be.

    • appears the shipping date has moved forward, saying its shipping tomorrow O.o

  • Anyone know where i can get the cheapest 1080? Can't see any stock.

  • Looks like the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 is back in stock but no longer shipping to AUS. Bummer really. Might go the Gigabyte G1 instead. Any thoughts on that one? Im confused by the clock references between the EVGA and Gigabyte one. EVGA says base and OC clock while GB says Boost and OC Clock. Which is supposedly faster?

    • All reference specced GTX 1070's have the following specs:
      Base Clock (MHz) - 1506
      Boost Clock (MHz) - 1683

Anything above that is factory overclocked by the vendor. Both the EVGA and the Gigabyte you mention are overclocked with the Gigabyte card appearing to be slightly more aggressively overclocked than the former.

    • +2

Heads up looks like its back with shipping to Oz!

      • this close to resorting to newegg aus, thanks for the savings!

      • I saw yo post about the FTW edition price drop. Probably going for this instead!

  • Any updates today on the 1070s? Wouldnt mind a good OCed card for <600 aud

    • Never mind just got a strix for about $595 aud! :D

  • Amazon shipping is hopeless. has been sitting on shipping soon for 2 days now

    • A lot of the items are listed as pre-order and awaiting stock to arrive. Once received they should send it out quite promptly. Given people are still waiting for their orders to ship from PCByte through the last ebay 20% off deal, Amazon is far ahead in terms of service efficiency and delivery.

      • Yeah i can understand the whole stock levels thing, it said it was shipping yesterday hence the slight impatience. However in the grand scheme of things a few days wont hurt, once its on the road then it shouldn't take long. I feel for those pcbyte'rs :/

  • +2

The EVGA 1070 SC is shipping to Aus again, just ordered one.

    • Updated, thanks!

    • why not go for the ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1070 for $429US?
or the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB FTW DT .. they both come with cool RGB lighting

      • International no hassles warranty with shipping provided by evga. Worth it for the same price bracket. Asus strix triple fan is just for show.

      • I got the Strix based on the fact it has a slightly different PCB.. gambling for a bit of a better overclock as oppose to the superclocked which is basically a reference card with better cooler

  • I got the evga 1070 sc as it was priced under the $600au i was willing to pay for a 1070 and the international warranty.

Also read an article that stated the ftw dt could possibly be ftw's that didn't make the cut and were rebaged at stock clocks.

I've never had to claim warranty on the 2 asus cards I have owned but what is the process/cost to rma a grey asus card?

  • +3

EVGA gtx 1070 FTW now dropped to 439.99 on Amazon if anyone is interested. However the only good thing is the RGB stuff if anyone likes that. Also for anyone looking at when to pull the trigger on this with price drops. See here for the history of a GTX 970 SC when released in September 2014, RRP of around $350. There was a $10 drop after a month and then its fairly stable until some crazy increase in November. The price drops about $20 after 6 months if you can wait that long. Obviously history can change so who really knows.

    http://camelcamelcamel.com/EVGA-GeForce-Quieter-Graphics-04G…

    • Updated, Thanks!

  • +2

I would jump on that EVGA FTW if I didn't have an EVGA SC on the way.

  • +1

Just ordered the EVGA 1070 FTW, now the wait begins.

    • +2

I too have joined club FTW!

I used parcel point delivery for an extra $1 off. Because I'm an ozbargainer.

    • +VE?

    • +1

bought one too. FTW in games, FTL in wallet! Price jumped now!

  • Any idea on how long it takes for Amazon to restock? Missed the ftw edition :( Was going to wait until payday to buy it (middle of the month).

  • god damn was about to purchase the zotac 1060 mini and it changed prices and doesn't ship internationally now. that will teach me for being slow. legit at 10am when i checked it was fine.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IA9FEOO/ref=ox_sc_act_t…

anyone know of any other mini cards i can look for in the same sorta range? 1060-1070 etc.

  • How long did it take you guys to receive your cards? Just wondering as I bought the evga 1070 sc on Monday with the expedited delivery and it says it'll get here on the 18th
    Thanks.

    • send amazon an email wondering about it and they should bump you to express shipping - they did for me after 2 days of it not being sent!

    • +1

For me it took 3 days for stock to arrive (was a pre-order) and then 5 days for delivery

      • Thanks shouldn't take too long then. I was just a little worried as I've been reading about the courier I-parcel, and they have a bad rep in forums

  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0(amazon.com)
    $649.99 + $14.62 USD Shipped ~ $886 AU

whens this back in stock ?

  • FTW edition back in stock but back to original price of 459.99

  • When i order the asus 1070 it adds 16 on my order even though it says free shipping. Is that import tax?

    Cheers

    • +1

Free shipping only applies to US residents. Anything shipped to Australia attracts a shipping charge

      • Legend, also do you know the fastest way of getting a decent exchange rate? I don't have any of those cards listed above. What's the fastest card/method i can attain of not paying a horrible rate + fee.

        • As far as I know, those cards are the easiest and most convenient. Alternatively contact your current financial institution and ask them exactly how much overhead they charge for purchases in US dollars so you know what you are up for.

  • +1

Evga 1070 sc just arrived via fastaway couriers. Ordered on the 1st and was delivered to Perth today. Pretty impressive for standard shipping.

$598 shipped with international warranty and on my doorstep in 7 days……..good luck to Australian stores trying to compete with that.

    • I'm still waiting on a delivery from JB Hifi from NSW (via Australia Post), been almost 2 weeks. Compared to Amazon my item was shipped and delivered in 5 days.

    • What shipping option did you choose if you don't mind me asking? I also ordered that card on the 1st and I still haven't received it. Tracking last updated last Saturday saying it was entering customs…

  • Got my EVGA 1070 SC yesterday. But WTF!!! It is DOA!!!! I have to return it and all happiness is gone :(

    • Tried a different PCIE 6-pin rail first? Worth a try before going to the effort of sending it back.

1st edit: Wait what?! Just double checked, the GTX1070 requires two 8-pin PCIE rails. Make sure that you give each of them a dedicated PCIE line and not using two off a splitter.

I guess it must be the older GDDR5 that requires more power because the GTX1080 only uses one 8-pin PCIE

2nd edit: It appears that the number of PCIE power plugs varies from card to card, all the FTW EVGA's have two 8-pins while the SC's have one.

      • My SC card only have one 8pin. I tried both the PSU 6+2 connector and the 6->8 converter coming with the card. But both do not work. There is no POST screen after power on. Only gives me a black screen.

        • What sort of PSU do you have?

If your power supply only comes with one 8-pin PCIE rail, I'd take a guess that it probably has insufficient output to power both the graphics card and the rest of your system. Ideally you would want to try borrow a higher rated PSU or try the card in a different computer with a higher rated power supply to rule out the card being the source of the problem.

You could also try removing all add-in cards, disconnecting all HDD's and optical drives and see if that gets you past post. The additional power may be all you need to confirm whether the card is at fault or the PSU.

        • @Cobalt_:
it is Antec New TP-550. EVGA 1070 SC only needs 500W PSU as printed on the box. I don't think it is a PSU issue.

        • @njukiller:

That is running awfully close to the line of the minimum recommended power specs. It is also dependent on the other components you have in your system. I certainly would be investigating further.

The last thing you want to do is send off for a replacement card and have the exact same thing happen when the new card arrives.

        • @Cobalt_:
Thanks for your suggestion. I also would like to do more test. But the bad thing is there is no other box or PSU i can test with.

        • @njukiller:
Also it's worth noting that the EVGA GTX 1070 SC is an overclocked card and draws an additional 20watts over standard reference cards. This takes you even closer to the mark on the minimum power requirements.

Like I said before, try disconnecting all your hdd's and optical drives and removing any PCIE/PCI cards you have installed and see if that allows you to progress past post.

It may be just enough to get you through

  • Looks like prices may be coming down. Saw Lyl's deal on the Gigabyte.

For those that missed out on the EVGA 1070 FTW, the FTW DT is now $419.99.

apparently it is like getting the FTW card, but not the FTW performance.

    • Thanks, updated

    • Nice price! But my PSU only has one 6+2 pin connector while FTW card needs two 8-pin

  • +1

All EVGA 1070 are back in stock. The ASUS 1080 is also back in stock at ~AUD818.

  • Just wanted to say good job OP and those helping with whats in-stock and not.

Hoping my 28 degrees card arrives this week!
