C'mon TA… I'm waiting for the list of half price specials! it's 5pm already

  • Don't forget your skype credit will expired, if no activity after 6 months..you have to either make a call or sms to keep it active

    • +4

I thought skype credit didn't expire - it only becomes inactive and can be reactivated.

      https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10378/what-do-i-do-about-…

    • are you sure?

      • Yes. It becomes inactive and its a bit of a pain to reactivate especially if you are overseas.

        • I heard is a pain to reactivate expired Credit, anyway the last 50% off deal i felt for, and regret it, as I don't even need to use it.

          @kevin22: Link?

I've reactivated credit in Australia. It seemed pretty seemless. Can't comment on overseas though.

          @kevin22:
I got an email last month notifying me my credit had deactivated (after not being used), all I had to do was click a link to reactivate it. Really simple to do, definitely doesn't expire. Perhaps it's changed since you've had to do it

Finally! I have been waiting for this deal to come back for a while. All my credits are almost used up. Great timing.

  • Isn't it expensive than Viber out as Skype charges connection fee on top of calls??

    • +3

Not when actually pay only half the cost

    • You pay connection fee only when you are on pay-as-you-go plan. Better to go for a monthly subscription.

  • +1

Awesome - subscription expires in Sept. Perfect timing.

  • +2

Forget it! Staff are instructed to hide them all in 2 days.

From Wednesday, you will see all the Etpos $100 card back on the shelf.

I still have the old 300 minutes world subscription that they did years ago. Was about $72 for the year, $43 if you paid up front and combined with these 50% off cost only around $21.50 for the year for calls to 50 countries including calls to mobiles. While they Grandfathered the plans they kept people's subscriptions ongoing as long as you keep renewing it. I'm sure they stopped it at the time as so many people jumped on the deal.

I have their original unlimited calling subscription which was 116$ a year. So it costs me around $60 for that subscription.

They don't offer unlimited calling anymore but people who signed up have their subscriptions still active as long as you top up your account with giftcards before the subscription expery every year.

      • Same here, such an awesome deal since it has unlimited calls to AUS Mobiles which makes it cheaper for relos to call us in Aus.

    • Ive got the 300 minutes too.

  • I saw this AD last Friday in my local woolies. Tried to buy some but was told prom not started.

  • Skype out isn't worth it for casual use if it weren't for these kind of deals. Casual call rates have at least doubled in recent years and the android app has stooped so low it's almost unusable. Maybe it has appeal windows phone users, who knows.

" Maybe it has appeal windows phone users, who knows."

It is OK for iOS users.

  • Damn it, i just shelled out on a bunch.

What's the expiry on them once you scan at register? They only last two years, right?

  • Left around 8 * $25 card on top level in town hall.

  • The Skype instructions on how to use the card aren't clear - It says to enter the "voucher number", but on the card you buy there's a "Serial number", A PIN (under the scrape-off sticker) and two barcode numbers.

The answer is that you need to type in the PIN number as it appears, including the hyphens, eg RL5KS-9JDH3-0DKFJ-AJEH3-DJ134.

    • I guess hyphens are not required. I activated two yesterday.

      • Okay. I tried without hyphens but with lowercase letters and it didn't work, so it must have been the case that was the problem

        • Yaa, most probably.

  • None left at Rockdale, NSW nor Hurstville, NSW

  • so how do I pay using Gift card ?
I have logged into my skype account and trying to add as pay-as-you-go credit.. couldn't find an option to pay using Gift card or Voucher.
    Can someone please help.

      1. Goto www.skype.com/go/prepaidcardau
      2. Log in
      3. Hit the "Redeem" button.

Just did it 2 mins ago.

      • thanks mate

      • hey

I can see on the pack that it is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase - I presume that it needs to be redeemed online within 12 months.
Just wondering if there's any expiry on the credit once redeemed ?

        • No expiry once redeemed but it will go 'inactive' if you don't use any credit in 6mths, see here.
