  • PM at OW… :-)

    • do they beat the price by 5% still?

    • +9

      But then it isn't elite…

    • only $2 difference when they take post in account.

      • They'll match it and then beat it by 5%

  • +8

    1337 stands for elite

    • +3

That reminds me a guy with a green shirt and black sunnies.

      • and a brown backpack?

        • Sometimes yes, sometimes no. But hey, I think we're talking about the same guy. ;-)

  • +3

only Gold is cheaper, the other colours are $2k. and plus $9.26 postage.

all colours are $1349 at office works. only about an extra $2 (when including post) (other models are cheaper at Office works )

  • Which core processor?

    • 1.1Ghz when you look up the model number. Identical to this one: http://m.myer.com.au/shop/mobile/mystore/apple-macbook-12in-…

    • +2

this is the 2015 core m model
      not the 2016 core m3

      • +3

Ahhh thanks.. This is the garbage one then. I just bought a 2016 m7 using Melbourne Uni Edu discount and thought this was a great deal. But its' not.

        • I'm at Melb Uni.. how do you get a discount?

        • +1

          @knackers:

          http://www.apple.com/au_edu_800611/shop

There you go buddy! I don't even go there but you can still use it unless you try to organise interest free.. (then they start asking questions). I still got it on 12 months interest free using my existing Go Mastercard though.. so it's possible.

Melbourne Uni have the biggest discount out of the other uni links too ;)

that laptop is not LEET but the price is

  • No OW stock in Melbourne ? :(

  • I just purchased a macbook air 13' 128GB from JBHIFI for $1393 - was this a good deal folks?

    • They're currently selling for $1548

    • +1

A decent price. I got mine from OW a while ago with a similar price.

    • +1

I bought my MBA 13" 128GB from Futu Online eBay store for $1239 during eBay 20% off promo a couple of weeks ago, very happy with the deal and the notebook, too :)

  • Good price for a little Mac.
However, the 2016 model has better battery life and performance gains (as with all later tech).

    • +1

Yes but not worth the extra money unless you have cash flow or necessity

  • I am looking for 2016 model (Core M3), but I think this will do!

Shipping is $11.7 to me (wow so $0.8 cheaper!) so not really a deal compare to OW… while OW has limited stock near my home, I may try call them and see if PM success~

    • Just called OW dont have ANY stock for 2015 model (Core M), even it said limited stock on website…

  • +1

Is this the silly machine that only has a single port on it, the glorified MacBook Air?

    • +3

Many people don't really need lots of ports. My wife NEVER plugs in her Macbook Pro into anything (except to charge).

We have fast AC WiFi for moving data around and a Time Capsule for wireless backup. Photos from her phone just arrive via the inter webs from iCloud. She just doesn't need lots of ports.

Power users will never be happy with a single port, but this laptop is obviously not aimed at them. It has a beautiful high res screen, its thin and light, it has fast solid state storage and long battery life and that ticks the boxes for many people.

    • Depends on your usage - I'll take portability over ports that I rarely use any day of the week.

      • +1

So you are at uni and want to quickly copy some work from someone else's USB on to one of your USB hdd. How do you do it? I guess you need to buy some sort of usb-c to usb hub so you can plug them in?

It seems like Apple just made this change so they can sell more overpriced accessories. The computer doesn't even have an SD card slot!

        • Sounds like the same argument that was heard when Apple dropped the serial port, parallel port, floppy disk, optical disk…

Get with the program, tech changes. USB-C will be ubiquitous as soon as people let go of their attachment to old tech.

        • +2

@jaxxon: Or when they drop the 3.5mm phone jack from the next iPhone lineup. I'm struggling to understand how we can charge our phone and listen to music at the same time. Not everyone will be using bluetooth audio.

        • airdrop

    • Aparrently it's not an Apple thing, it's expected to become the standard. We consumers like our tech thinner and lighter and this is apparently the way forward. On the surface it seems like it's more hassle than it's worth but if you read into it you might just be convinced.

      • That's correct. I've purchased multiple HP laptops that feature a USB-C port.

  • I cannot find any stock in officeworks all state.

  • Is this comparable to the i5 or i3?

    • +1

Nowhere near. "m" processors are ULV CPUs that don't need a fan but are less powerful.

    • +1

Depend on which gen you're comparing too, and what model. But generally m is slighly less powerful because it's designed to consume less power than the i counterpart

      • +1

Ok. I will aim for the surface pro 4 when they are on sale.
I need at least i5 or better

        • haha, Tempted to sell my SP4 i5 for this!

          I've got a powerful desktop already…

        • @khonfahm: what wrong with the SP4 i5?

        • @congngo:

Nothing! Such a good device! I just never use it. Between work and my desktop PC at home - it very rarely comes out.

If I do use it, it is a step down from my desktop.

That is why I would like the Mac - as it is different. It would have iMovie, Better Lightroom performance(better colour accuracy), and I would like to see what the fuss is about with Mac's and why people seem to love them.

        • +1

          @khonfahm:
I hated macs until I got this
It is really good for touchpad gestures and good to respond to sms if you have an iphone as well

  • Got one with Officeworks special. Great laptop for those who like lightest laptop as possible.

  • The Daughter just wants a Mac - I know some Macbook airs (13inch) have been as low as $1,200 for 1 year old stock. Thoughts about holding out for a $1,400 Air or bite the bullet on this for the same price, but more Storage and better screen.

    • +1

Trust me, the screen on this thing is so much better than an air, plus you won't find a better deal than this on this machine. I've recently bought one for both my father in law and mother via officeworks, and it's more than capable for most practical uses. Take a look at this thread for more real-world use reviews https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/251037

    • this has a smaller screen though and no ports (my son still uses the SD slot and usb on his Air so this machine would be a pain for him)

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3897528/redir say under $1400 for Air at JB.

      • I use SD with this all the time using a Transcend adapter
        http://au.transcend-info.com/Products/No-396
        and a usb-c to usb

        or you could get
        http://au.transcend-info.com/Products/No-733

It is very simple to plug in and out and it is only one extra step and a quick one at that

        • yeah, I know theres work arounds and you can buy adapters, but then it's an adapter you need to carry around, i would rather none.

i just think there should be a few more ports on it - there is room after all and especially the price.

  • How much ram is on this model?

    8gb I assume?

    • +1

Yes 8gb and you cannot upgrade it or at least not easily anyway

    • +1

Yes there is 8GB ram on this model

      Hi Rep,

My order is 'on hold' . What does it mean? Waiting for stock to come?

How long do we need to take for the item to be delivered?

      Thanks

      • Just out of curiosity, which colour did you order? Considering getting one.

        • I ordered a gold one. But it is in an on hold status. I am just wondering whether they have stock.

      • No this does not mean we have no stock. We have plenty of this model, there would be another reason for the "Hold" status.

Can you please give me your order number? I will investigate why this would be on hold.

You can email me at [email protected]

        • Hi,
I placed an order for 2 x Gold on 03/08, have been charged but the order status is still 'processing'. I've tried to call multiple times, with no answer. My order numbers are 100003431 and 100003432, and I'm wanting to know when these are expected to ship.

    Just Phoned Officeworks!

Got them to price match and they beat it by 5%! Paid $1270.15 for Silver!
They don't have others in stock! :(

    • Did you phone a specific store? I tried then and couldnt find stock :(

      • same, called North Ryde NSW no stock… how lucky you are…

    • Indeed, which store did you phone?

  • just ordered can't wait.
    Thanks HN.

  • does this model (which is last years model) have the butterfly switching keys? or is this an improvement in the current 2016 model?

  • Thank you for the deal.
Today I bought one from OW price match at Newcastle West store. Total Price Match Savings: $78.85. They still have 2 in stock.

    Cheers!
