@tonester: So what if TGG withdraws this offer or amends the exclusion list? They could happen. Too much uncertainty to celebrate at this stage.

        • @PainToad:

so it's misleading because it could be cheaper then?

        • @jkcat:

that could happen with any offer from anyone

is the issue the 2 week wait?

would it be a problem if the credit was given tomorrow or next week?

what's the maximum acceptable lead time?

given that the normal non-sale price is the basis of the deal, imo it's ok

        • @tonester:

so it's misleading because it could be cheaper then?

          You're clearly trolling.

        • @tonester: Note that the cheap Chromecast / NInja slim is not an advertised offer. The credit is one of the prerequisites towards the discounted price, while T&Cs and fineprints etc constitute the rest. The merchants may be wary of their advertised offers since they could be taken to the ACCC for false advertising, but until TGG starts issuing the credits there is no way to tell what the final T&C would read.

Given that the normal non-sale price is double of the discounted price, and given it's rarely sold below the $40 mark, at $33 TGG could be making a loss; although I personally would like to get one that cheap, it's not a surprise if it's not happening.

          @jkcat:
Agreed - for all we know the voucher could have an exclusion for this product. Reckon the mods dropped the ball on this one

    • Misleading deal, is not active yet. have to wait for first and second catalogue in email.

      • +1

I have to agree, hypothetical deals/prices for items to which the original voucher hasn't even been issued yet.

  • Does that mean that if I join the digital subscription today, I can't buy the Nutri Ninja Slim for $25 yet?

    • +1

That's correct. Need to wait for voucher.

      • Bugger. I want the Nutri Ninja Slim… hope it will still be around at that price in subsequent weeks…

  • Does the nutri ninja slim have the same screw on blade as the normal full-size nutri ninjas? I already have a full-size nutri-ninja, this would be a cheap way to obtain a 2nd blade

    • Yes, but the size width won't be the same unless you literally just want to take off the blades? Haven't checked in a while but Harveys and Good guys use to sell extra containers and an extra blade for around 40-50 I believe, possibly a better option for you?

      • Thanks for this. So does that mean the screw on lid won't fit a full size nutri ninja as well?

        • No, it won't unfortunately, it's about 2 cm diameter shorter than the full-size ones.

  • What does a google chromecast actually do? I know I could google it but I prefer the personal touch of a reponse from a fellow ozbargain'er ;)

    • +1

You can stream Chromecast-compatible media onto your TV without cable (e.g. connecting laptop to TV) - essentially turning your TV into a smart TV, works with most major video sites/apps like Youtube, Netflix, Dailymotion, etc

      • Ah ok thanks! :)

    • +2

For SOME people it drains $50 from your bank and you set it up and then it sits in your drawer for a few months till you remember about it and use it for a day then Chuck it back in the drawer.

      • +1

While OTHERS buy a couple of them for close to half the price using OzBargain deals and use both every day.

      • If you're in Melbourne City, I heard you can swap it for a free coffee ;)

    • I use it to stream Netflix from my phone to my t.v

  • +4

Good deal with enough hurdles to warrant an Olympic sport!

  • Dont think you can buy the Nutri Ninja posted by the op as the minimum spend for every $25 voucher is $50.

    • +1

      Thus title says

Nutri Ninja Slim $25 (with $7 Item)

    • +10

      You did it wrong then

    • +7

Can only assume you're doing it wrong or you had a faulty chromecast. I'm still using a 1st gen and it's one of the easiest, most user friendly plug and play devices out there.

    • +1

I have set up 1st Gen Chromecast units with a ton of TVs (mine, family & friends) and even had it working with a 5 year old A/V receiver, which is great if you want to stream music without having the TV on at all times. It's a brilliant piece of tech in its simplicity.

      • I assume to stream music with A/V receiver you need one with HDMI input?

        • In my case that's what I did, but it's not necessary and you just need a Chromecast Audio to stream to an old receiver or even a pair of active speakers. It plugs into the Aux-in RCA input of the device to which you need to stream.

        • @elektron: I see. Unfortunately the Chromecast Audio isn't available for this deal though.

    • +1

It is now a great frisbee for the family dog

What do you think the first Chromecasts looked/were shaped like?

      • +1

        A penis?

        • Yup, comes with a male HDMI to insert into a female HDMI slot which all receivers will have.

        • So this is a downgrade…

        • +1

exactly how it can be described … lol

    • strange my 7 year old uses it with no issues as does my wife who hates gadgets lol .. ive set mine up on an ancient plasma and a newer tv, no probs with any of the 3 routers i've changed and all works over my piss poor internet connection… since the govt in power totally f**ked up the NBN roll out :)

  • +1

I have 2 Gen 1 Chromecasts and 1 Gen 2 at home. I use 2 of them very regularly (Lounge and Bedroom), the 3rd is on a rarely used TV in a rec room, but is handy to have there when needed and was so cheap anyway.

I've been waiting for a good deal to replace the bedroom one with a gen 2 as I prefer streaming using 5ghz.

  • +15

You can't just make a deal out of another deal. Everyone knows how to spend $50 with $25 voucher. It's not like an ebay or thegoodguys voucher.

    • +1

You can't just make a deal out of another deal.

      you can

Everyone knows how to spend $50 with $25 voucher.

      but not on what

It's not like an ebay or thegoodguys voucher.

      it is :)

  • +7

This is not a deal - the "deal" for the vouchers is here:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/259867

And how dumb are people above for not even reading the TOS or the thread.

The 2 x $25 vouchers each require a min $50 spend, and only come after 2 weeks and after 5 weeks' time, after you subscribe to the newsletter.

    • -2

So every item at $50 or little over from good guys can be posted as a new deal here. I don't think it is a normal price and deserve a seperate post sorry.

  • If your thinking about a Chromecast 2 just go ahead and do it. I have two Chromecast 1's then bought a Chromecast 2 for the upstairs tv (better wifi). Also have an Apple TV for the projector room (As that needs a bit more powah). Anyhoo the Chromecasts just work so well straight out of the box, just remember there is no remote you use your phone or ipad which is fine.

    tl:dr chromecasts are great.

  • +4

So many up votes, and not even one has been bought lol

  • +3

Cheapest price for chromecast 2 to date

    And on the date section:

    17 Aug–4 Nov. In 14 days

So which one is it? Cheapest Chromecast 2 to-date, or supposedly in 14 days?

  • Hardly a deal. Not active. Not sure why it got so many +ve votes.

  • Amazing deal on nutri ninja slim I got this on promo from woolies for $44. It's an incredible blender destroys anything u put in it

  • +4

The chromecast 2 is now $47, down from normal price of $58.

    • Those bastards at TGG. will need to find another item to get the total to $50 so i can use the voucher.

      • It's pretty doubtful that the $47 special will still be running when the vouchers arrive, probably will be back at $58 by then. If not it's easy to order online and add a $3 item to get it to $50, like distilled water or something like that.

  • +1

Using a chromecast 1 to stream Optus EPL (auto mode) from my laptop. Quality is decent but it does stutter occasionally when I'm browsing chrome in the background. Would the chromecast 2 improve quality and not stutter? My router is an apple airport extreme and I'm streaming from a Macbook air with AC wifi.

  • Got the first digital catalogue yesterday, so halfway there ;)

  • could "Store Credit" be used online ?

  • +2

They are sending the vouchers to mobile phone number via sms. If you used a fake number , you won't get it but someone else will get a surprise lol

  • +1

Just got the voucher via SMS. Time to get a Chromecast.

    • Same here.

      • Just got a recorded phone call as well telling me about it lol.

    • Bought!

    • got the code as well, when i try to use it , it said invalid code. anyone has same problem?

      • +8

Keep going through checkout. It's not a promotion code, it's entered at the end as a gift card.

        • brilliant. Thanks. Ordered Chromecast.

        • would never have figured that out on my mobile thanks.

      • On another note, their website sucks!
Lags for me in both Chrome and IE.

        • indeed.

        • Use your mobile phone to order.

  • +1

OMG ive been eyeing the Nutri Ninja Slim for a while and waiting for the damn code to arrive and when it does its not available anymore :/
can anyone recommend something similar for the same value?

  • +2

Input the 2 codes received, and get the price down to $8 for pick up! I should registed more mobile numbers!

    • Missed it mate.

    • You don't need to spend min. of $100 to use two codes?

      • No, you could use multiple codes for the order more than $50.

    • Shouldn't work according to the terms and conditions.

      • But it works for me. So do it ASAP before they fix it.

        • Did you get to collect it successfully?

        • @Sage:
Got the confirmation email said it's ready for pick up.

      • did u register with 2 mobile numbers?

        • Yes.

        • @go2home:
Inputting 2 codes not working for me.

Is it working for anyone now?

        • @BellaWii:
Sorry to hear that. They could fixed it. Anyway, $25 discount is still a good deal.

    • I forgot I signed up with the mrs number as well…could have been an $8 buy as well.

  • just got my code

  • TGG website is horrible. Tried paying via paypal and it kept failing. In the end went in-store during my lunch break and bought it. Cant wait to get back home and try it. Thanks OP!

  • Got the chromecast finally!! Patience pays ;) but its back ordered grrr…

At the time of order the store had it in stock but the email says its back ordered. Crap site, and its so slow right now.

  • +1

  • I can confirm two codes still working.. Chromecast 2 for $8

  • +1

    • don't worry - answered above: 'Keep going through checkout. It's not a promotion code, it's entered at the end as a gift card.'

    • -1
